I take the train frequently between Bangkok and Chiangmai. Frequently meaning arriving to Bangkok from the U.S. and heading to Chiangmai with 2 suitcases and a carryon to my house just outside of Chiangmai. Sometimes if I’m in a hurry, I take my suitcases to the Bangkok train station and ship them for around 300 baht and then fly to Chiangmai and pick up the suitcases the following day. I can’t sleep on the train because of the noise and the rough ride from the tracks but the views during the daytime are great.
Thanks so much for doing a height test on the beds! Very thoughtful of you, you guys are the first Ive found so far to give any info on this! Subscribed, thanks!
@@AlwaysonaJourney I'm just starting to plan my trip for Thailand soon. I've never been on a long train trip and your video helped me decide to at least try it once. Thanks for the detailed explanation and for showing tips. You guys are wonderful 💜 thanks again!
Thank you. I think it's possible to feel sick because of the motion amd the length of time you'd be on the train. Have you experienced travel sickness during a train journey in the past?
@@AlwaysonaJourney Thank you for your prompt reply! I have not taken an overnight train since I was a kid, but normal train journeys seem to be fine. Does the train sway from side to side?
Great video, thanks for sharing all of the features! If you don’t mind I’ve got a question. At the end of the video, when the beds were made up, I could hear a baby crying a couple of times. I think the door was closed, so did sound really travel that easily through the walls? Did it affect your sleep?
@@AlwaysonaJourney Thanks for that info! I'm a reaaaaaaaly light sleeper. My travel partner can sleep through anything, but that might be difficult for me.
Hi Jerry what Airlines are good to fly internally as we're want to go to Chaing Mai first when we arrive from Australia so we will have to stop in Bangkok and from Chaing Mai to Phuket if there is a straight flight ✈️ to Phuket or we'll have to stop in Bangkok and Fly to Phuket please 🙏 🤔
Hi, Tiger & Gooner.. Thanks for your comments. There are direct flights from Chiang Mai to Phuket. From my experience Vietjet is the cheapest option but unreliable. AirAsia is a budget airline with moderate prices always on time and the last one is Bangkok airways which is full service. Sometimes the price when compared to AirAsia are quite similar. Jerry.
🙏🙏🙏 We trained 1st class sleeper Chiang Mai to Bangkok, hopped of at Don Muang airport flew to Koh Samui arrived 9am. Best experience and fun all the way. Recommend. Love your video👍👍😘😘
Hi, do you know if any rules have changed with covid? Do you still have to do the 7day sandbox or can the quicker 1day quarantine? Im looking to book a trip and feel like im back to square one. Thanks
Im travelling on Train 10 from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, first class sleeper in about a months time. I bought the upper and lower berths so I can have the cabin to myself. Very indulgent, but I want to enjoy my own space......question.....is there food available to buy on the train now covid restrictions have eased??
hi andrew, love your videos! this is a little off topic but do you know if its possible to fly from london to phuket via Kuala Lumpar as the connecting flight? sorry if this is really random! thanks
Hi we will be on this train later this week. Can one get coffee or hot water (to make my own coffee) in the morning? And did you have the train food? How was it?
I was thinking that, the sleeper train should make one for tall people. Especially the beds. The beds should be at least 7 ft in length for when 7 ft people come to sleeper train 🚆.
Could we bought 2 rooms connected …coz i ll bring all da cute thais chicks n Hav a wild party through da journey…….yehaaaaaaaaa ….gosh i miss my midwest Amtrax

I love traveling by train. Sitting for hours and watching the scenery go by is so peaceful and the rocking motion is relaxing
I agree. We didn't get to see a lot of scenery this time as we travelled during the night.
We had the same hostess when we went just recently, she was so lovely! 😍😍
Ah really. Yes, she was very nice. :-)
Be advised if you want 1st class you need to book it almost month out (cause they sold out real fast)
That's good advice.

Welcome to Thailand.
Thank you!
Great informative vid. Thanks. Are all the 1st class cabins meant for 2 people? Or are they some with 4?
Thank you! Yes, I think they are. all for 2 people. If a group of four people are travelling there is a divider between the two cabins that can open.
Hi, love your informative video! Is that a GoPro you're using to record?
Thank you Jeanology, yes you're right, we always use GoPro for many of our videos.

Probably possible with Air Malaysia if they are flying to the UK still

How early do you need to get to the station?
30 minutes before departure is enough.
Hi Andrew, now that you've travelled the route by air, bus and train what is your favourite of the 3? Thanks
By air definitely.
How much luggage can you bring ?
For the 1st class you can have maximum 50kg per person.

Yes, you have to.
