Not even a little bit surprised by the outcome. The green, gold, and 18 is where the value is in JW. Thanks for creating content like this. Sometimes we all need a reminder that whisk(e)y prices are more a function of rarity than quality. And sometimes marketing.
@@royn8032 So I thought this was going to be a more classic DrinkThrough (tm) where they started with three and ended up blinding 8 versions. Red Label for the win.
Dutch and Jules preparing for the tasting: *no-help Dillon walks away* Dillon after doing poorly on guesses: "You guys are wrong. Deep fakes. I question the.. uhh.. ya know" Great content as always gents, this was a funny one!
This video prompted me to pit my Johnnie Walkers against each other: Black v Gold v 21 XR v Celebratory Blend. I was surprised how well the Gold held its own: neck and neck with the 21 and Celebratory Blend. After time in the glass, the 21 edged the 2 out, but just barely, but that's only because I quite like good 18-25 year old grain whiskies (which it very much tasted like) - it was not as complex as the other 2. I also gave the Celebratory Blend the edge over the Gold as it had punchier sweeter flavours (purple grape juice, berries, richer, more peatiness).
I love blind tasting. We did the same thing, it's fun. Its Blue Label, Glenmo 14, , Loch Lomond 18. 3 guys pick the Glenmo 14, 1 guy pick the Blue Label. Thank you guys.
this is exactly the reason Most of us Follow you guys, because of the Honesty and Goofery and Shenanigan's of 3 Guys, and to see Dillons face of DISAPOINTMENT
Balance has been re-established in the universe. I've never understood the hate on the Gold. It's a fantastic dram, and it develops so much in 10-15 minutes in the glass.
I’m just watching this video now in 2024. I’ve always loved JW Gold and couldn’t understand the low ratings. I bought a JW Gold limited edition bottle in 2017 and haven’t opened it yet. It’s beautiful with the shiny gold label. I’m going to open it when I retire in 2 years 👍
Poor Dillon At the end he looks like a shattered shell of a whisky connoisseur. Blinds can really mess your mind up. FWIW, I've drunk multiple bottles of the gold and still cannot warm to it. On my palate it has a candied sweetness (almost an aspartame flavour) which turns me off. I've drunk all the jw's, and if I had to pick only one for the rest of my life, it would be the green Happy drinking :)
Great, fun video guys. So glad Gold won, it is my favourite whisky and I could never understand the single malt snobbery saying that the JW green label is the best of their line. Now I wonder how would the Gold label stand against some of the single malts it is made of like Oban 14 and Clynelish 14. That would be a great blind taste video to watch in the future. Cheers
Gold label is good but....,I love the King George V, actually🥰😍✨....I love watching an outdoor adventures channel - a guy who uncloggs Bever Dams.. .(I'd love to do the commentary ,while sitting there sipping shots of King George V) - and watching angry beavers circle like Sharks!!!!!🤣🤣🤣......"Angry beavers comming in HOT at 9'oclock"🤣🤣🤣🤣
Okay, just buy JW Gold and you're set for this brand. They are only 80 proof so no barrel proof intensity with this line. Enjoyed this video, thanks guys!
I honestly wondered what would have happened if Green Label snuck into the tasting. I would imagine everyone would pick out the Green based on the higher ABV and the flavors.
Hell yes!! Awesome! Lol I'm not goina lie I love gold. And never had any of the crazy expensive blues. I'll stick with gold. Hilarious Check the tapes!!
Like Jules said... fun dude... and so eye-opening.... when you pay out your ass for something, make sure its actually for the contents and not the glass and its marketing. The CPU..... delivering PSA's in spades!
I have 5 bottles of King George V and I refuse to believe that even the 18 year or the gold label are as good as King George. Now I'm gonna have to bust out my scotches and have a good night indeed. EDIT: I also have a bottle of Bicentenary Blend which is even more tasty than King George V.
its ok to admit you got duped bro😋 ... do your own blind with a clean palate and be clinical. Like these lads and their blinds.... when you apply a contextual line-up... flaws and strengths get ultra-highlighted. This is why we be watchin... and this is why the fellas make these vids, and thank goodness if it saves us a few bucks tbh. If KGV is only marginally better or materially worse than JWGold... buy the bottle o gold and rather buy a pour of KGV if you really have FOMO. If I were you I'd sell the unopened KGV's and buy some Lagavulins or other top class single-malts.

Absolutely... The Green is the sleeper.
Dillon's shock and horror face!
Reality shattered 😂
Love the blind episodes.
To be honest I had the same Surprised Pikachu face as Dillon during the reveal.
This is why the CPU wants blinds! Marketing plays into this too much. Also, you guys are the best.
So does this call for a blind of the standard lineup? JW 18 year FTW?
@@royn8032 So I thought this was going to be a more classic DrinkThrough (tm) where they started with three and ended up blinding 8 versions. Red Label for the win.
@@cyama3661 Right so you see my point Red vs. Green vs. Gold etc to see which is really best now

I wish Johnnie Walker tasted as good as their marketing...but then they'd raise the price.
Amazing--love it when you do these blind tastings! The results are so unpredictable. Dutch and Dillion are cheaper dates than Jules!
My fav video by far!! Please more Johnnie walker blinds!
Sometimes denial is all you have left.

I am just glad to see Jules survived the pink lemonade poisioning in Vegas. Gold must have tasted like honey.
Time to for a bit of a "walk"... Cheers Gents, and keep it up.

Outstanding Johnnie Walker video!!
I love this video at 14:30 while I sip my Gold LabelReserve every time for $71 in CA
Blind = objective, takes the marketing out of the equation.

That was awesome!!!! The look on Dylan’s face = priceless!!! Great video!!
You should put the gold up against Benromach 10. Benromach has always reminded me of Johnnie Walker, but it's better imo.
that edit of his face after realizing it was gold had me rolling lolll
Really enjoyed this! Great vid guys 👍🏼
Dylan just never gives up when he's wrong 😂🤪
Platinum comparable?

J.W. Green 15 year is the only one I can tolerate. The rest are about as smooth as broken glass.
Great video. You guys rule! I do not have to watch any other tubers.

Just catching on great channel guys 😂
Johnnie Walker Green Label uses only single malts for its blend. Just saying. Awesome video. Guess I need to add Gold to my collection. Thanks.

You have to put it against green 15yr
So good!
That was awesome very entertaining
I mean Gold is delicious so I don't think this is a bad thing at all
It’s interesting to add gold 18 yo in this test
I believe that other than the gold they tried to hard to live up to the hype and the $$ they were going to charge and in the process lost something .
Blinds are so cool and surprising
I also did blind testing on gold, black, platinum and blue. And I favoured gold over blue followed by platinum
Dillon….come on man
my fav JW is the Green personally. 100% malt helps imo. i love that the Gold won over these super overpriced/ underwhelming blends haha!
I honestly wondered what would have happened if Green Label snuck into the tasting. I would imagine everyone would pick out the Green based on the higher ABV and the flavors.
@@shuboy05 i think it would overpower the rest, making them all taste watered down compared to the green
Bought a gold because of this video and very happy. 🙏
Which ghost and rare was it tho?
Gold vs. the 27 and 32 yr. Dewars.
thx, will buy a case of GOLD.
damn I think I need to go get some gold label. what's the average price for a bottle in your areas?
40$
just go buy the new Foursquare 17 Isonomy that dropped a few days ago for $150 in SoCal. you probably already bought it like me.
Patiently waiting for it to hit K&L or TW up here in NorCal!

Yeah $70 in Colorado

That was crazy
Gold label is good stuff
Lol :D. Amazing!!
Everyone says blinds are the best tests. I don't think so because weaker proofs and subtlety usually lose in a blind
WTF!!
If Johnny Green was in this it would have won... Green is where it's at in the JW line.
Watch their JW Drinkthrough.
I have an old bottle of 18 year Centenary. Tryna make a trade if any J.w. fans out there.

You should be embarrassed. Gold Reserve. At least Jules picked Ghost and Rare as his favorite. LOL Gold Reserve is budget Ultimate 18.
