The reason why there's a ton of speculation is that everything but the Calumet which is bottled by a non distiller producer is obtained in totes. Around 2 years ago, there were Heaven Hill totes up for sale. Fast forward to last year and there was a ton of Beam totes for sale. While I say this, the brokers who are selling the totes do not disclose where they came from. They are sold in totes to prevent non distiller producers from knowing what they are buying. Complete lack of transparency. You're left with pure speculation relying on 2nd and 3rd hand information to know what you're buying. Not a game I want to play. But this is why a lot of these bottlers simply don't know or can't disclose the source. They quite literally don't have the proof themselves. Calumet is a bit different because they have a purchase contract with Barton and have for years. The barrels they have were purchased long ago.
Jules, the true golden god, king of the palette, lord of whiskey and sultan of high proof bourbon.
Jules is the sleeper bourbon expert. Lol
YES. I don’t want to say I caused this video to be posted but I just know I commented on the Calumet 15 video yesterday that you guys should post this and here we are lol
Might be my favorite video so far. Jules’ hidden power has come out😂
I think we met Mr. Jules in this video.
We found out who the real expert is in this one.
Jules is the world's best whiskey taster!!🥃
So happy to have tuned in for Jules’ ascension to one of the best whiskey tasters in the world 😂 Great video guys!
Cheers guys! Glad you enjoyed it!
Jules should start using a gold glen in all reviews
Holy freaking moly!!! I hope Jules went out and bought a lottery ticket!! Damn!
Watched the results 5 times LMAO which in turn woke up my son , so worth it. Just bought Calumet 15 120.00 in NY. Love this channel!
Dillon was AMAZED!!!! LOL
Lol! "And the NEW...!"
Maybe somebody would like a "Savant Golden Glen" shirt?!
Awesome, Jules! Great episode guys!
Haha! Love Jules' reaction! You're the man!
That was so much fun to watch. Way to go Jules!
on the next episode, Jules needs to appear with a gold glencairn and a bag of chicharon! cheers my filipino brotha on this awesome episode!
‘15 Year Borbon’ on the title sequence. Do I win a shirt for catching that?! 😉Awesome run down fellas! Appreciate it! What a rip off for the Zach Snyder bourbon. So happy for Jules.
We actually caught that just after we published the video! We need a better Editor! Cheers!
2:51 in but I've gotta type this before I forget, the Doc Swinson's and Hickory Hill are both 78.5 corn/13 rye/8.5 malted barley which is definitively Beam(I've confirmed this with industry sources). As for the Zachariah, I believe you all stated on the podcast that it's actually from Doc Swinson's, I'd say that makes it reasonable to infer that it's from the same source. As for any semblance they may have to Heaven Hill, which I have noticed myself, HH's yeast is actually descended from Beam yeast. To be clear though, this Beam stuff was not produced to be used in Beam branded products, it was however made in a manner similar to Knob Creek. However...keep your eyes peeled for Hardin's Creek 184 month(15yr) and 204 month(17yr) bourbons . Now back to my regularly scheduled programming.
LMAO, I had paused right before Dillon commented on people making empty claims. Hopefully that was enough detail to satisfy my fellow nerd, if not then feel free to ask, I'm always down to chat.
Definitely appreciate the info!
To expand on this. Most of the 15 year old brands (besides Calumet and Sam Houston) are the same source. It was sold in totes (basically big plastic cubes). That's why the batches are the size they are. Some of the people bottling don't even have the source disclosed to them from the broker when they purchased it. But Fred Minnick agrees that it is Beam produced.
Best episode! Congrats Jules! Awesome video. Need more like this
You guys deserve to blow up, You're guys' palettes are pristine and I now know what GOOD liquor tastes like!!!
I also have a recommendation for a video series: You get all of a type of liquor you own and do a king of the hill
Jules for the win! LMAO
You guys should do these blind challenges for every age of bourbon, start with bottled in bond and just go up from there.
Glad you liked all of them as the only one I have is Knob Creek and one of my current dogs is a Calumet Farms Single Barrel store pick. Kudos to Jules for picking them all!
That was hella fun! Loved the last minute retrying the green with Dutch and Dillon
I always knew Jules was "The Talent" :D
Love it. Gotta love that blind squirrel. Calumet was on my radar and now I can tell my wife that I HAVE to buy it. Thanks!
Get the golden jacket re-sized....Jules is the true whiskey connoisseur!
Love the blind videos fellas! That Calumet looks like it's really good man. I have to find that one
That’s incredible. Jules is legit.
Holy shit that was godlike Jules! Good stuff man 👏🏻👌🏻
Jules is the 15 Year GOAT
Yesss! The Calumet won! And Jules won big time LOL
Spoilers?
@@Fred_Gilbert I was commenting as I was watching it lol
@@taybiztv I hear ya, I almost did too lol. As soon as Dillon started talking about all of the fruit I knew it had to be the Barton, got me all excited :P
@@Fred_Gilbert 😂😂
Nice Jules!
Very entertaining! Thanks for doing this - love the "blinds".
LOLLLL Outstanding Win.
Well done Jules.
The blinds are my favorite episodes!
Love u guys the best! So fun 🤩 to watch u all.. My most favorite u tube bourbon review by far!!
Great video guys!
They all taste the same b/c theyre all beam juice, except the Cal farm, course! Nice going Jules!
Great video, guys. Google "random" and a portrait of Jules pops up...🍀
Came close to how I hoped this would pan out. Calumet 15 is a little pricy, but at $110+tx for a 15 year at the local shop? Been enjoying this more as I've gone back to it. Also hoping Knob Creek 15 drops again. Been sitting on the fence with Doc Swinson - at $180+tx, your results keep me there. Hickory Hill and Zach aren't on my personal map.
Best video ever. Calumet 15 is great too!!
Next up? Low proof battle. Dillon crushes it!
Congrats Jules
I agree Calumet 15 rocks this year
Jules 5 for 5 A+ Mr. Dillon and Dutch 0 for 5 thats a F guys.Wow!
Wow Sensei jules.
Am I wrong for thinking “Unanimity” should be brought back when everyone is in agreement?
Jules is on fire 🔥 STAY OUT OF HIS WAY!
Jules ->> Clutch
Jules is becoming a savant.
I've been considering the Knob Creek and Calumet available at my favorite store, but am not a fan of regular Knob Creek, and know nothing of Calumet. After this, the Calumet seems like a great option for me. Thanks guys!
The calumet 15 is one of my favorites.
Best guesses ever!
Do You Guys Have Any Balvenie ? I Know They’re Not Bourbons But I’d Would Love To See A Review Especially On The 21 Year 🤞🏽
There is another whisky with Velvet mouthfeel at similar price to King George V...it's : "Royal Salute - Hundred Cask select" actually has a 2 stage mouthfeel..(1) Smooth (2) Oily back of pallet - like salad dressing....it's like a Stonkingly good Port😍....($500)...and also Chivas Regal 25 😍....and try Glenfarclas 30!!....it's around $700....but, would be great for your channel 😊....(i haven't tried the Glenfarclas 30, only the 25 yrs old)...... Cheers,...
I would say that Mr. Dillon & Sir Dillon is now Sir Jules!!😉
ata boy julesey
Great comparison! Sadly WA state liquor sales tax is actually the highest in the US. It’s 20.5% plus an additional volume tax. Brutal.
Yeah - we actually will be discussing that on an upcoming podcast!
The income tax was what we were referring to though - possibly why both Doc Swinson and Zachariah Harwoood are based in Washington...
@@CuriosityPublic Makes sense. The lack of income is a big plus. Looking forward to the discussion! Cheers!
Meant income “tax” oops. Haha.
Don't forget the extremely high tax on gas also, in good old Washington State. "Thank you, may I have another"... said while grabbing ankles...
Did you record this before the Calumet review?
Yes, I was thinking the same. Dillon said he did not try the Calumet 15 but he was in the Calumet 15 review.🥃
Surprised you didn’t throw the Dickel 15 year in there. The Dickel 15 year absolutely blew my mind away I drink it over all my allocated bottles. It’s very surprising but batches do very. I heard the 95 proof is horrible but the the 103 is amazing
I didn't know there was Bourbon aged that Long like Irish/Scotch Whiskey
A borbon challenge, huh?
Did you guys try Sam Houston 15? It's my 2nd favorite this year behind Russel's 13
Jules the bourbon master!
where's the pappy 15?
No tax in WA (5:34). Dutch what are you talking about. I would laugh if it didn't make me cry. WA has no income tax, but sales tax is ~10.0% and has the highest liquor taxes in the nation (thanks Costco for pushing that crap bill through). It's so bad I look forward to visiting OR which has the second highest liquor tax, but still well below WA.
What do you guys do for a living? How can you afford this? 😅
Btw that was a great episode
No Sam Houston 15?
Well it was nice knowing Dutch and Dillon
Hawk was Spencer for hire's friend who was a bodyguard.
Love the channel
This means Calumet 15 is on leaderboard guys!
Dutch, Duke is the leader of the G.I. Joe....and knowing is half the battle Jules.
General Hawk was, in fact, the head dude.
@@theakpal Hawk may have been in rank but he answered to Gen. Hollingsworth as well....but Duke was the man.
That was great!
thumbs because of the perfect guesses
Personally Sam Houston 15 is one of my favorites.
Should have threw in the pappy 15 year in this review. That would be interesting if pappy come out on top blind.
Jules was the one pouring, wasnt he? Nothing about random guessing like knowing the right answers ahead of time.
Get the Bourbon King T shirt to your store
Does Pappy 15 beat Calumet 15?
Tough to compare. They have very different mash bills with Pappy being wheated. Very different experiences
Angry Orchard is swBLEEEEP?
Wow! 5/5
Dillion... Let Jules finish... or if you want to be first.....go first............................
AND, Jules... way to go!!!! you need to be on Matt Maddness.....
Jules should retire lol go out on a high note
