    I've been wanting to pick up a bottle of anCnoc 18 for a while now. I may have to pick one up now before they go flying off the shelves lol. BTW, if the Bruichladdich were peated, it'd be called Port Charlotte.

  • @jasonmay6565

    Bruichladdich 18 is very much unpeated… I’m very curious how you all picked that one out as the Bruichladdich because “obviously it’s the peated one”?

    • @javieracosta3439
      @javieracosta3439 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The Bruichladdich Local Barley releases I have dont seem to have peat when had alone but as soon as I threw them in a "non-peated" blind, what did I taste? Friggin peat on the finish with those spent embers that hang about way in the background. So I would not be surprised the Laddie 18 has some of that quality that they picked up on when had side by side with other whiskys.

    You had nme at "Best 18!" I love Part I -- there's always the possibility of finding a brilliant dram around the 18yo IMHO. Well done guys!

    Considering a 25 year blind you say? Wish I could join! Some of the 25's I have include The Glenlivet 25 Sample room, Aberfeldy 25 "125 Year celebration Sherry Cask Finish", Balvenie 25, Glenfarclas 25, The Dalmore 25, Arran 25, And if you average my Glenfiddich 26 with the Ancnoc 24 you have another couple 25's between the two. They definitely belong in that lineup!

      @@theftprevention It's definitely a superb dram for the price! I've got the Glendronach 21 Parliament and a Glendronach 28 year cask bottling of the Sherry Puncheon bottled at 52.5% ABV, one of 664 bottles in the world. It's to die for!

    When you said peated and funk, i thought that it would be the scotia. Think bruichladdich is unpeated

    • @CuriosityPublic
      @CuriosityPublic  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah - I realize that now. I think it was the briny aspect making me think of peat.

    • @javieracosta3439
      @javieracosta3439 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CuriosityPublicI have a few Bruichladdich Local Barleys that, when had on their own dont exhibit any noticeable peat. BUT, when placed into a non-peated blind, there is a residual ashy, old campfire note that absolutely shows up on the finish. So not surprising the Laddie 18 has those traits when had against other whiskys.

    Is Bruichladdich 18 peated like Dutch was saying? I heard it was the 18 year version of the Classic Laddie which is non-peated. I thought the Port Charolette 18 was their peated 18 year old.

    • @Silentchaosdk
      @Silentchaosdk หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      i own that bottle, and I can confirm it's NOT peated. it's the 18yr aged of the classic laddie as you mentioned. if it was peated, it would be a part of the port charlotte line.

    What bothers me is keeping any of the bottles in their tin/box/sleeve... you can just toss the Bruichladdich sleeve once you open the bottle, same as the Aberlour tin, the Arran tin, and the Glen Scotia box. Then *none* of them will bother you - and obviously the whisky will be fine, the one bottle that doesn't come with superfluous packaging won the flight. 😅

    Hey Guys, great video and nice to see a threeway tie (or was it lol). Next time this should occur just strike the lowest score per whisk(e)y, then the Aberlour would have won it with a first and second place and a three way tie (2-2,1-3,1-3) for second and the bruichladdich last. ORRRRR, when tied the "cheapest" bottle wins ?

      @@jasonmay6565 FFS. That is absolutely NOT how you pronounce it. "ERIN or "AARON" is utterly wrong. The locals pronounce it "Ah-rran". ie Scottish gaelic. Dutch calling Bruichladdich as peated is wrong though.
