Just that short snip of the snare feature?!? That’s a bummer! Rest of the vid is pretty sick though! This is the first true 21st century DRUMLINE in my opinion. Dudes set the tone going forward.
This year for me will be the blue devils I remember. Its the first show I heard from them. Also the OG ditty and other crazy exercises. Just such a memorable season.
First live show I ever went to. Fell in love with the activity and I told myself I don't care where I march I will march. This is the show where every corps had someone fall. That poor BD tenor player fell twice and the second time looked like he totally broke his drums in half.
Replaced by hacking sessions where members take scripted breaks to stretch, fix their hair, adjust their drum height, play patty cakes with each other... Modern lines are playing great stuff, but the extra loose culture, colourguard costumes, and bobble head aesthetic has really ruined it for me. I’m a dinosaur. Aged out in 2003. Haven’t been to a show since 2014. Can’t do it anymore.
This was a great line. The whole activity has changed so much. I don't like what DCI has become. Too much emphasis on costumes, dancing, and weirdness.
0:17-1:24 I'm sincerely asking Jesus Christ to help me learn this on Snare and quint drums so I can do my part and teach it to my upcoming students amen.
Those opening features hold up extremely well over time. To this day I’d be blown away if I saw these live!
God the tuning on the snares is amazing. I really wanna get ahold of a dynasty Dfx. Classic
I was a rookie snare player in DCI that year and I was watching that lot. Fun memories.
Shoutout to the Odello brothers on 1st-3rd bass

Yeah I was super bummed that he didn't get a full run of the snare break. Included what I could though!
Ah, the Alamodome. Lots of memories in that very lot.

The phenomenon of cool! Part of the reason I ever started drumming. Excellent content as usual.
Those buzz rolls are freaking beautiful.
Such a great drumline year. Ditty is absolutely timeless! Thanks for the upload
They played ditty fast as fuck here hahaha
The style back then is so staccato it looks sped up.
Casey Brohard was the reason I wanted to play a snare drum ...

What? Wow that's sucks man.

@@alexlopez515 The cavaliers won and it was like super close and I think it was the first time both corps met in competition that year.
