SSSSCCCUUUEEEMEEEEEEEEEBUT... I AGREE & I LIKE THIS "aggressive" approach. new-school drumline (corps level) is diverse & very tasty, but they didn't have "drum on a pillow" chops.... old-schoo chops beat new-school every time .. I marched under HANNUM's technique (through the drum & into the ground while not smashing or crushing) (use the rebound like hulk hogan) w/ Troop & we never used stands, & played "8 & forever"... ... ... for a mile. I could break bones in the average human playing the way I was taught. ... food for thought... What think you?

I've wondered whether he's Christian, Harley-rider, skate/surfer, simply engulfed in the culture of DCI, a head-banging metalhead........ this is the most revealing tape of all. I bet there are more tapes out there from the 80s - 90s. I was told stories by 80s snares of weed, coke, hallucinogens, MAI-TAIS for the contra line etc. ... I can only imagine what it'd be like to be high through a summer.... any thoughts/knowledge?

Excellent quality video for 1996 I must say. Excellent quality drumming too by the Blue Devils. I take it they only got better as the season progressed as their second stop was close to my hometown in Clovis California. Dave Glide looks young in this video as well. Dave Glide and a few others helped my high school school marching band’s drumline win Nationals in 1994 I believe.

sorry, these guys are thought of as the "one of the best" & they were tighter than other lines & on other nights they had clout at that level. They were always in contention for drums. BD94-97. But take the 94 Cadets. ... Bachman... they would be slightly off & cause they were all so good, their slightly off could make them sound like shit cause they were all so confident in their timing & attacks... but once they sinked up in the back-lot... Cadets were this clean & cleaner & at much faster tempos & FAST rolls... the most "one-drum" line I ever experienced in person & I saw everyone those years at ALLENTOWN.

Many of the changes that came after this were more because of show design. It was too loud too much so they had to add softer sections for GE.
