What a marvelous show the ABC morning show was- We listened every morning for the full four hours of the show, Bernie was so well read and so his opinions had a foundation that both my husband and I respected with utmost confidence. We shall miss his commentary and passionate opinions more than can be expressed. Our sincerest condolences to his wife and children. In the world of a compromised media, we have lost a true journalist who stood solid to his beliefs. Eternal be your memory Mr. Bernard McGuirk.
I briefly met Bernard McGuirk when he came to Boston to represent the Imus show for a sold-out “96.9 FM Talk”/WTKK (Greater Media) event for all of the big shows. Bill O’Reilly and Jay Severin were THE guys who everyone wanted to meet, so when the event was wrapping up, they were mobbed with people wanting to talk with them. Bernie was just standing there…no mob…and we chatted about being chopped liver or the like. 🙂 I’m thankful for even those few minutes I got to share with him. He was funny, nice, and humble. My thoughts are with everyone who loved him, especially his family. RIP, Bernie.
I remember that station. It was pretty entertaining..it had a slightly conservative bent but issues and callers were for most part treated with respect. I became a fan of Jim and Margery’s show back then. They were fair minded back then and open to all sorts of ideas and discussion.

Bernard you was such an influence on my life . I enjoyed listening to you and learning amazing ways to have better perspectives on how to analyze the world around me . I can't imagine the profound pain everyone who worked alongside your incredible mind and voice must feel. My condolences to his wife and family . I will forever be in debt to him and his knowledge. The sad and tragic loss of Bernard McGurk is going to reverberate throughout the halls of WABC for years to come. They only come around once. I don't think you all truly appreciate the talent you had. Spending all your time assuaging Rosenberg's massive hi you disregarded what Bernie brought to the table. With the ability to make us laugh consistently and then in the same breath explain and put into laymans terms the intricate world of geopolitics and global economic woes that face the country is a talent afforded to very few. It's sad when you say we should have a show of Bernie -isms when all this time of airing the best ofs on Saturday mornings it was always Rosenberg solo. I guess he got what he's always wanted. He could have learned a few things from Bernie like humility, humbleness, quiet toughness laconic. Happy at home with a smoke and a brew instead of prowling all over NYC begging to be noticed and a free meal. I abandoned the show months ago because without Bernie's political punditry and historical input its just another failed Stern/ morning zoo attempt. So Mr McGurk you will be missed by the people who really count....your fans. May flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest and may you be in Heaven a full half hour before the devil knows your dead. I love your depth of feeling for Bernard. I listened to him since the late 80's and am sad to think there won't be a replacement for him. Certainly not Sid. At least we had him for around 36 years----we were lucky
Bernie was part of my life and he could have lived anywhere But decided to live amongst the regular people like myself in the Long Beach area because he never forgot who he was love you Bernie
