So painful! Never thought the Mega Dread would let me down (well 1 in 100 games it should on average 😖) The silver lining when things like that happen now is I just think 'at least I can use a funny clip' 😂
The spores seem similar to an old problem Starcraft 2 had when an army had access to "free units" that don't give points, etc., when killed. They can basically block objectives from Melee units for nothing which basically hard counters your list with the -1 to hit aura for shooting. Cool game to see again though.
That was a beautifully painted 'nid army, makes me weep that the lackluster gradients on mine. I haven't had a chance to play 40k yet, so I'm afraid I don't have any useful insights. Only thing I can think of, and I don't know if Orks really have any, is deep strike options to the back end of the 'nid side of the board to split their focus and maybe do something about all those damned mines.
Maybe the dread ahould have deepstruck into the backfield (if possible), as he doesn't really do anything to the big bugs, but would happily mob upmsome gargoyles and biovores, this would make the hive tyrant maybe turn around, too for a turn or two. Throwing him into the meat grinder in the middle is not a winning play for sure. I don't play Orkz, but I have played against Tyranids a few times, and every time I just know, mthat the middle of the board is a huge trap. They can't really be confronted, but if I managed to break them up, I have had success. Big lessons for me where: The Hive tyrant is a distraction. Force the big bugs to go onto objectives, focus on non-monster units. Maybe the scrapjets could have done that in this case, just run em up a flank. Again, the Hive tyrant has to intercept them, or they will take out the objective holders.
Thanks! True I was too fixated on that Maleceptor, and in the end Ghaz got him anyway. I do think the Mega Dread is the most threatening thing to the big bugs as it wounds them on 2+ (except Leviathan) for D3+3 damage, but it definiteky could have tried to pressure the backfield instead. Yeah I got sucked into their fight for the centre and it was a fight I couldn't win. There really is nothing else like a winged tyrant imo, nothing THAT deadly (e.g. kills ghaz from full health) and that mobile that you don't even have to *commit* cos you can move it 17 inches after killing something, for 1 measly CP. Kind of induced panic and decision paralysis in me. I should have focused on taking out the smaller critters, and been more aggressive with the scrapjets
@@priorityordersdiscarded7868 It seemed like the tyranid player used the base codex rules not the ones in the new balance dataslate. The hive tyrant has to be the warlord instead of the neurothrope and can only fly away in the end of the movement phase. The adaptive subfaction traits also have to be chosen when they make the list now instead of right before the battle but I don't know if they followed that. I might be completely wrong but that's what it looked like.
@@weirdyfish oh damn I didn't think of that, I must have misread his roster cos the Hive Tyrant would have been the warlord, just didn't think of it cos I'm not that familiar with nids. He knows his stuff and would have been using the up to date rules The moving away thing with the Tyrant is Overrun, it's at the end of the fight phase
@@priorityordersdiscarded7868 No worries, nids are terrifying wow. I'll tell my friend about that strategem he'll love it. Looking forward to the next report :D
@@weirdyfish thanks, yeah the only caveat is that the unit that wants to move again can't be in engagement range of any enemies at the end of the fight phase, so the Tyrant has to kill whatever it fights. Not hard with that damn Reaper relic though!
First off. Long time fan. TSONS player here. I have a quick question if you would like to share. If not I get it. But me and my friends want to start doing battle reports. We absolutely love your style. We love the photos and narration instead of the live shaky cam stuff you get unless you're a huge production. We have cameras and such at our disposal. But what software would you recommend for the editing. Voice over. Animations and such. Keep the videos rolling. We love the work. Thanks.
Thanks a lot 🙌 Well I use Movavi to edit the videos. It's not free but it's pretty cheap and it's designed for laypeople, nothing complicated at all and you can easily do text, transitions etc. If you want to do your own narration, I think you can record directly into it. If you want to text-to-speech like I do, I use Amazon Polly with a smidge of post-production. For reaction clips, I screen record from TH-cam using freeware called OBS studio. There's a lot of greenscreen stuff on TH-cam too and Movavi has a chroma key feature so you can make use of it for a lot of animated stuff. Any other questions feel free to ask and I'll answer as best as I can 👍
With how chunky nids have gotten I've changed up my list to include 6 Deffkoptas as boomboyz, and hiding my Bonebreaker/fort turn one. Top of T2 koptas come in and kill all the warriors or tyrant guard, then I play attack out of da sun for 2 cp to take them off the table. then if something lives ramming speed the Bonebreaker at it. but that is expensive on the cp front👻👻 I have to build and paint 2 more scrapjets, 2 waazboms and 6 more Deffkoptas because you can't mix tribes anymore😢😢 I'd run the scrapjets in tellyport drop the koptas t2 and try blowing a massive whole in one flank of your opponents army. Then knock anything else close by down with the squig boss or, lock it in combat to give you another turn of rokkit spam.
Thanks! Hmmm probably won't be next time (or soon tbh), I need to fix up a couple of my Knights whose arms broke, and paint up a couple of armigers to make up a list that works with the new codex. It's just a lot of work that I don't have time for atm (I'm working on a lot of models for other game systems at the moment as well as a big backlog for my 40k armies). But I will get round to it eventually!
Sad to see the Orkz take a beating, but yeah, it partly seems like you just had a bout of bad rolls and very little answer to the biovores. I think the deffkoptas should have put some pressure in his backfield to try and eliminate the biovores in the later turns when put up in deepstrike. Other than that, I also think that your stormboyz should have probably been put on the ground since the mission rules really screw with your ability to use their deep strike to its full potential, being able to advance 18" anywhere you want is a lot better, especially during a WAAAGH! Not sure if you're open to changing your list slightly, but dropping a couple of the boyz units for a trukk for the meganobz and making one of them trukkboyz would give you much needed reach and charge threat in your army, especially during a waaagh! It also gives them that protection against early game out of LoS shooting.
Thanks, all good points! The Trukk Boyz Meganobz is a great idea and one I've not actually tried yet for some reason even though I do own a Trukk - I may try this next time 👍
NB: I marked the Neurothrope as the WL on the roster, but it was the Hive Tyrant
Have I ever mentioned that you have such excellent chip tune intro songs? Cause you do.
Thanks! I've been waiting for Tyranids so I could use this one 😁
Ahh man that charges roll!!! Have had those over a whole 5 charge charge phase.

Love the format, love the tone, REALLY love the 8-bit metal intros, especially Cradle of Filth ones.
Thanks Baptiste! Yeah thought the Nids deserved a bit of Cthulhu Dawn 👾
Pretty interesting Nids list. Those venomthropes are NASTY. Nice to finally see a game with no imperium. (Not that I blame the players)
True there's a lot of Imperium opponents on my channel! Yeah 5 attacks each wounding on 2+ wtf
Best battle reports in this formula.
Thanks Andrzej 🙌
Nids just have an INSANE amount of tools. The person who designed the Ork codex must not really have liked them
Yeah unfortunately as much as I love Orks their codex is definitely feeling a bit 'lacklustre'

Oooh, rough match up... Nids are vicious AF. 😬 Still, awesome work as alwaysal! 💪
Thanks, yeah vicious is the word for it. Orks want to have a good scrap but not so much against these ultra-efficient biomass harvesters!
Orks never lose! nice reporrt, thanks
Thanks for the support 🙌

Custards are taking a back seat at the moment but they shall return one day!
Ah unnerfed nids they're still veeeery strong but a lot less now. You did pretty well all things considered.
