    LESSON SUMMARY
As you dive into the world of jazz, it's easy to become overwhelmed with all the hundreds of jazz standards out there. It's unlikely you'll be able to learn all of them. So, how do we know which jazz songs are the best to learn and practice? You could simply start learning jazz tunes without organization, although this will take quite a bit of time and each tune may not help you with the next tune you learn. Instead, if you choose just a few jazz standards with well-laid out criteria, then you can cover many similar songs in far less time! In this lesson, you'll learn:
    - Criteria for choosing the best jazz songs to learn and practice
    - The list of 10 recommended jazz songs
    - Similar songs for each of the top 10 list
-Some insight into the common musical elements of each tune, including chord progression, keys, and styles

    Hi Johnny - Em - Am - D7 - G - C - And F Sharp / B / E etc. Actually I've got this as a cycle of 4ths.
But like your playing as a basic introduction to these popular tunes. Many thanks JC

I know theory says its cycle of 5th..It is 5 to 1s.. It is whole lot easier to teach beginners C to F to Bb..etc.

I call this type of blues Jazzy Blues or Bebop Blues. You can learn a bass line for this in our Jazzy Blues comping courses.

Nice stuff and great list of tunes to learn. But St. Louis Blues is not just a 12 bar blues - you're leaving the middle section with the relative minor and tango beat. But I understand you need to get to the other tunes. Small quibble in an otherwise great video. Jonny's still the master.

Just looking at the chapter list: What is this song called "Criteria for Selecting Tunes"? I've never heard it. Never heard that song called "Conclusion" either. *LOL!!!!!*
(I have actually seen "Intro" used as a song title, though.)

Or practice Giant Steps for the memes
Edit: feed GS in the criteria...
    1. Chord progression: Cycle of fifths and Coltrane Changes
    2. Keys: y e s
    3. Styles: bossa, swing, bebop, ballad, odd time signatures, and maybe others
    4. Fun to play: depends
    5. People will recognize: definitely
