Peter Martin is insane. To have that fluidity to randomly switch tunes and styles on a dime and nail it every time. That's next level musicianship
Well he got the song wrong a couple times..
Let's hear your take, bud@@Dudeface167 I'm sure it'll be flawless
@@Dudeface167 there's no wrong notes in jazz 😂
I really like how he lets one song sort of overflow into the next, sometimes even keeping the rhythm from the previous song intact.
@@spikesagal Smooth as butter
Seriously impressive. Now take them all through 12 keys and you’re good to go! 😅
😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
He wouldn’t struggle 😂
Thats GOLD Jerry...GOLD
That’s the requirement in order to receive your Doctorate in Jazz/Commercial Piano studies at Manhattan School of Music plus the additional 14 they did shortly after this video. My brain exploded after the first few songs. 🤯🤯🤯

Some standards I would have added:
-Night And Day
-We'll Be Together Again
-Airegin
-Joyspring
-Autumn in New York
-Star Eyes
-Polka Dots and Moonbeams
-When Sunny Gets Blue
-Blues for Alice
Add on the sunny side of the street and you have all of them I want
I'd say also Afternoon in Paris and mood indigo
stay tuned please...
I would've added Armando's Rhumba and Spain. R.I.P Chick
Are you a guitarist? Hahaha
Someday My Prince Will Come
Please next time let Peter play each tune a little longer. Man those excerpts were just amazing in themselves.
Awe inspiring. Peter's ability to change his touch, dynamics, time feel, and groove to fit every tune. Every tune was so seamless, like they were all movements in the same piece. That's a lesson in it of itself!
I’m blown away, Peter! You are an inspiration! How fortunate are we to have lived in a time with all these beautiful songs!?
than you!!!
i would not have had the discipline to only let peter play a few seconds of eaech standard haha. i would have let him played an extended 10 minute versoin, what a feel!!
Would be amazing to have a video where he plays the full head of 150 standards
@@i_am_lambdathat's a great idea. They should make that a livestream!
Only thing in this video I can do is mix up Dolphin Dance and On Green Dolphin Street. But I'm really good at that
After watching, I don't know whether to go practice or just sell my piano. Amazing!
😂
😂
relatable
This is a superpower! I had to memorize about 50 standards in college and have them at the ready. But that was on saxophone. Having to remember all the voicings too is mind boggling to me.
There are 15 tunes that I've never played here; I know the rest. I made a list of jazz standards that I know and play a couple of months ago; came up with 85. Not too shabby for a guy who has to play pop/rock covers to make a living. I guess you could say jazz is my hobby and pop/rock is my livelihood.
this is insanely magical..love the standards
OMG Peter Martin, you are is terrific.
"Waltz for Debby"
Awesome video. My standards:
1. Spain by Chick Corea
2. Wave by Jobim
3. Waltz for Debbie by Bill Evans
4. How High The Moon
5. There Will Never Be Another You
6. Black Orpheus
This has to go down in history as one of the great live one-take music films of all time (only competition - Steve Allen's "This Could Be the Start of Something Big" with Dinah Shore, Frank Sinatra and all the others, February 1958)
How absolutely crazy and impressive is this??? I’m utterly floored
Take it through all 12 keys and you're good to go!
With such grace!!
So very cool. Such smoothness and transitions.
Black Narcissus, Afro Centric, Little B’s Poem, Totem Pole, Ceora, This is for Albert. So many!
I just added those Joe Hendersons to my playlist 🔥
These guys are so awesome. We love your videos! Happy Holidays guys...
Absolutely incredible
EPIC.
The transitions are just masterful.
This is incredible. Nice work, thank you!
Fun and very impressive for sure! Thanks for sharing!
That was so sick! You two are incredible on the piano, it really inspires me
This whole production and performance is art. And that's not factoring in the piano wizardry!

You two are stoopid!! This is fire 🔥 Much love and respect to you and admiration for your infinite creativity. Dang.
Amazing!
So great 🤯
This was dope. I could watch this forever!
Thank you so much, gentlemen! That was sooooo fun! Some of those transitions you made on the fly were just wonderful and had me shouting, "yeah" at the screen. And your rhythmic sense is just...[chef's kiss]. I stood throughout the entire video and was on the edge of my seat (umm...even though I was standing...LOL). Wonderfully inspirational...and, I think, the sense of joy was heightened by hearing one great song after another. There is a reason those pieces are "standards!" Yes! 😁
Some of those transitions are super smooth! Really impressive... Peter is a beast!
Unbelievable...love it guys!!!
This video of a clear example of mastery 🔥
Absolutely increíble!!!
Sweet! thank you.
Bravo! That gave me some inspiration to practice today, I’ll throw in joy spring.
Superb ❤ Thank you Sir Peter 😊
Awesome 🎉🎉🎉
Fckn' great stuff and very impressing what you're doing, guys. Thanks for that lot of inspirations 😊
Incredible!!!🙏
Wow. You even transpose lots of the tunes on the fly! You are such a master, Peter. Congratulations.
Unlimited thanks and huge respect for y'all, keep move on🙏🏻
Holy moly, next level stuff

Peter you are such a killer pianist sir, a true master! Thanks for this lovely video.
okay I am putting this on repeat and learning them all :)
Now that’s a harmonic mental workout! Awesomeness
Simply impressive
this is incredible
This video made me smile.
There will never be another you
Awesome video! Please upload more like this and maybe playing the two of you together. It was really interesting to see how Peter arrived to the first note of the following tune so smoothly. Also, I'd like to know what are your suggestions in terms of arrangement and voicing to avoid sounding the same when playing similar tunes (bebop, ballads, waltz, modal, etc.)
That is amazing
Amazing.... great pianist
ah man...so good! I want to hear all them in their entirety!
Fantastic❤❤❤
Bravo, Magnifique les gars. Merci excellente idée !
The piano sound is outstanding. Peter on the piano...❤❤❤❤
This is amazing❤️🙏🏾🎶

Blue Bossa, Take Five, Spain, Armando's rumba, All of me and lastly probably not a huge standard but i love it Bill Evens Very Early - All these i was missing
CEORA's my recent favourite. Lee Morgan trio is killer, and Herbie..
Genius! 🎉 How it possible to react in a second and go to other song with other rhythm, tonality. It blew my mind!
Fantastic
thats insane!!!
Dude WHAT. Beyond impressive
Good on you for including Flamenco Sketches
That was so fun! Amazing command of this instrument.
Couple missing tunes:
