Steven doesn’t play video games and doesn’t really understand the importance of his role. Steven definitely loves his role but he just doesn’t like being known as Trevor and rather as Steven ogg. Not only that he doesn’t really like when people always ask for him to swear at them.

Makes sense. Honestly, I'd get it even if the actors behind Micheal or Franklin wanted to veer away from their character. It woulda been fun to ride the wave while the game first dropped, but you wouldn't want to be known for only one thing
I still think Trevor is a poorly written character because the story wants you to sympathize with him despite all the terrible things he's done. I feel like that type of characterization has bled into most media nowadays where there are certain edgy characters that are on the verge on being dis-likeable or evil but just barely scrape by having some tragic backstory or something to make the audience try to gain sympathy towards them.
Tbh, the relationship between Steven and the other two are kinda like how Trevor and Michael fell out in Bury the Hatchet.

The whole thing with Steven Ogg is that he was _so fucking tired_ of Trevor. In a cameo where someone asked if he could give advice as Trevor, he lamented that people only ever saw him for that - not for his other roles, not as an actor who is an actual person, but just as Trevor. Dude must've been so fed up with it, and I can't really blame him.
What I _can_ blame him for is taking the cameo commissions. You can easily deny making a video for someone, celebrities very frequently do, so he could just say "No thanks, I don't wanna be Trevor" and move on.

Clint Eastwood didn't spent his mid years, only endlessly lamenting how he was pigeonholed as some tv star on a fledgling genre, he took the gamble of going to Italy to prove to himself that he could make it from the bottom. Fate, coincidence, or actual industry smarts and foresight; landing and riding on the perfect forming storm that is the rise of spaghetti westerns. And with that, he actually connected and studied filmmakers there to pick up their skills and tricks, which got him the necessary means to get into filmmaking himself.
Robert Pattinson didn't remade and distance himself from his Twilight fame, just by endlessly groaning how people only saw him as Edward. He shut up, got down into the indie-sphere, and spent years reworking himself back up from there. Honing his skills, getting new connections, and rebuilding his career image in the process.
Heck, even someone like Nic Cage or Walton Goggins, just spends years of their careers jumping into so many jobs without skipping a beat, main roles, supporting roles...no ego, just do the work, and your growing portfolio will speak for you.
I can understand his frustration. Before GTAV he had a few roles in Canadian shows like Murdoch Mystery but the moment he played as Trever, that was the character he would type casted for now on like in Better Call Saul and Walking Dead. But he shouldn’t be angry at people who bring up the fact he voiced Trevor since it’s usually out of admiration and respect.

Yeah his frustration is understandable, he doesn't want to be remembered only as Trevor from GTA 5 but as an actor who played multiple roles and it happened that his role in GTA 5 became the most well known for him.
On the other hand being paid money on Cameo to do Trevor impression and instead ranting about how annoying it is it's not very nice, he should just make an announcement to tell everyone that being known only as Trevor became exhausting and doesn't want to be known only for that role.
@@KWAKZ5 The difference between Steven and Leonardo is that Leonardo got other roles that were different from previous works from Wolf of Wall Street, Django, Inception Island so he would not be type casted and be only remembered as “Guy from Titanic.” Steven needs to get different roles, not just be a Sociopath for everything he is in.
To be fair, The Walking Dead featured a character that Steven Ogg played that was virtually IDENTICAL to Trevor in mannerism and behavior.
tbh I wouldn't say he's horrible, he's just tired of people only associating him with Trevor. Think of it like how people only associate you with fat furry slop. I still prefer the attitude Franklin and Michael's actor has towards their character though :p

Shawn Fonteno and Ned Luke, I think it's high time you stopped bashing Steven Ogg for not wanting to be bombarded with Trevor references all the time. It's not about being ungrateful or not appreciating the game; it's about having a life outside of GTA V and wanting to be recognized for his other work.

X, he's himself, willing to be there to discuss any questions a fan has over the videogame he was in. That simple, Steve doesn't owe anyone a little performance, he's sick of it, that's like making Bob Odenkirk do only Better Call Saul impressions over The Bear, or Drunk History, or any other shows or movies, he doesn't like being known as a crooked lawyer, he wants to be known as a man who mocks history or society in a comedic lense.

Its even in the video in the first few minutes too about what he did. You just outright didnt read or watch most of the comment or video and are just firing off defense arguments in the comments. Someone asked him to do something while playing a character. He took their money and berated them and didnt give them the product the customer gave them the money for and the "employee" took. This makes it look like the actor owes someone something. He did the job, he got the check and does not want to bask in the glory and just wants to move on with his career and his life. It's his right. If the other actors feel like being active and develop their connection with the fans - it's their choice.
