Imma be dead honest, none of these generations are "doomed"
We perceive that all these kids are freaking out over taking their iPad and yes that is the case, but if you take a toy from a kid no matter what it is, they'll cry about it.
The only reason we see this is because of the parents who are posting it online. But there are millions upon millions of kids who arent shoved in front of an ipad.
When I go out to eat I rarely see kids on devices, they are always chatting with their parents, siblings, or friends, and having a good time away from screens, just like I did when I was a kid.
Its what the internet wants us to perceive, but its not the full scale reality.
Also about movies, If you're in the UK and like the cinema then get Odeon limitless. You get your money's worth after 2 films, and everything else is just a bonus.

A clay tablet from around 2800 B.C. reads:
"Our Earth is degenerate in these later days; there are signs that the world is speedily coming to an end; bribery and corruption are common; children no longer obey their parents; every man wants to write a book and the end of the world is evidently approaching."
Thoughts like this are not new. Every generation thinks the next is cooked.

brother giving your kids an addictive anything early on is going to ruin their development, fully grown adults get addicted to scrolling how bad do you think it will be if you instill these addictive behaviors in their most formative years?
its a bad idea to generalize life in black and whites, yes every generation trash talks other generations, but some critiques are valid.
Saying the boomers have more issues due to wide spread lead, asbestos, smoking etc, is not an invalid critique simply because youre applying its consequences to an entire generation.
And saying the ipad neglect problem is going to be a widespread issue, is not an invalid critique either.

TH-cam poops were my shit (pun intended I guess) back when I was a kid. When I was reallllly young I would've loved the older Skibidi Toilet videos, but just as much as now, if I saw the later episodes of the series as a kid, I'd be just as big a fan of it's story. Like the main antagonists may have toilets as bodies but that's not really their focus, it's just that they have it, don't question it. If they were little green men who went "Skibidi dop dop dop yes yes" they'd be just as annoying, and like that's fine in itself, there's plenty of annoying sounding little aliens in media I'm sure many people hate, these things are no different. And I guess there was literally poop humor in like episode 4 but now it's very serious other than the toilet bit. It's far better for a kid to consume than the TH-cam Poops I watched as a kid is all I'm saying, so many traumatizing moments of SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs going at it man........... The only problem with the episodes is it's a bass boosted explosion feast for a lot of the runtime. But eh, that's war for you. Really uh, loud.

    • @twisty_BotsDefeated
      @twisty_BotsDefeated 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Replying to myself, the real trend of the series is that people react to it believing it'll be really stupid and they'll not understand anything or hate it. Some people decide to watch the latest episodes first and use that as proof that "hey this really is stupid" but like no duh they didn't understand what was happening, you don't start and stop watching a series at it's middle point. They gotta watch it through like it's frickin cia training (all the early episodes) and they see where it starts picking up into a narrative and guess what? There are so many people who leave from an hour or two binging the series and say it's not what they expected, that they enjoyed it. Cause instead of viewing a minute of it, they actually watch for longer, which is against the whole "shortening the attention span" thing is it not? It really proves itself innocent when people actually take time. It's not like it's some mindfucking disease that instantly shortens your attention in nearly two hours. It's just an SFM series

What happened to hobbies? Im gen z and grew up with an ipad, but my parents restricted it to 1 hour a day. I learnt to draw or play pretend, or write stories. Boredom is so healthy!! There are other means of entertainment than a screen!
Im not completely anti screen, and like everyone else im also addicted to my phone. But restricting the content kids consume is so so important, especially when you can teach them to love reading, or just be able to sit with their own thoughts!

The major problem is that a lot of parents don't enjoy "babysitting", and that is one of the reasons to just drop a screen in front of their kids, doesn't matter wtf their kids are watching... If they are quiet that's good enough.
My cousin has kids and she hates to treat them properly, she "doesn't know" how to raise a child, so pretty much her resolve was to make sure she gave the kids a cellphone for their entertainment. The problem is that she has no idea what their kids are watching, and sometimes i'm hella sure there is some fdup shit n there.

From birth until 3 years old a child shouldnt have more than 3 hours daily of screen time. For some kids it can be less than that. Since even most Gen Z kids like myself (2002) were not toddlers with ipads. I didnt even get my first touchscreen until I was in late elementary. We are still figuring out how tech like this shapes children’s brains.
Often it leads to lower attention soans, more behavior issues, social isolation and social unawareness. Dont cave in and just chuck your kid an ipad because everyone else has them. It will harm them in the long run

On the specific point about the grandparents and their iPad watching grandchild, I think this one is HUGELY overblown.
Every restaurant I ever went to that catered to children had empty colouring pages and crayons for them. Why? Because everyone knows that kids can’t sit still or have grown up conversations, they need something to keep their minds occupied so they don’t get annoyed that they’re waiting for so long without food.
Is this still the case? I’m not sure, mainly because I think the iPad has supplanted the need for it. The restaurant doesn’t need to provide the entertainment for the kids when the parents - or grandparents- bring it with them.
I understand that on an emotional level, people are bothered by grandparents being ignored in favour of a screen but the reality is that 10-20 years ago, those kids would have been colouring instead.
This one actually isn’t that big a deal and is an example of technology adapting to a problem that existed rather than creating new ones.

Mindlessly watching flashy content with no substance has been proven to lower peoples attention span and make them dumber(no surprise here). Kids-- more than anyone else-- NEED stimulation, they NEED to apply themselves so they could learn. Even the most braindead videogame or TV show is 10x more beneficial to a childs brain than Tik Tok.
I personally grew up on Spongebob, the original Teen Titans, Doreamon, Little Einsteins, etc. Despite shows like SpongeBob sort of falling under as an un-educational/braindead TV show, it still had lessons and was so captivating that it actually improved my ability to speak English early on.
Personally if I'm having kids, when we go out to eat I'm bringing coloring pages for them. When we're at home, I'm setting up a console for them so they can play the Lego games and the sort. The modern solution to a kid needing something to do shouldn't be a tablet, it should at least be a videogame that requires thinking and problem solving.

TLDR: I had a similar childhood before the lockdowns, it made me cherish social interaction but i had intense social sensitivity problems.
I was neglected by my parents in a way identical to the lifestyle we all had to live during the Covid lockdowns.
I was never allowed to go outside literally anywhere , and for three years, all I socialized was on games and the Internet. They didn’t make me go to school.
I’m in an adult now, but I can vouch for the ways it affected me as I grew up.
Let me first say that these children will probably be extremely grateful to have real life friends at all , but in my case that led to extreme sensitivity, and not knowing how to set my own boundaries.
These children will probably not know how to end romantic relationships , continue friendships after disagreements, and set boundaries for themselves most importantly.
Also considering how it affected me, it seems to amplify any trauma or mental illnesses that are already present.
In my case i developed mild PTSD and i have anger issues and emotional sensitivity.
but in return, I developed an intense carefulness for the way that I do socialize with people, and I cherish social interaction a lot.
But that was after I dealt with being incredibly estranged and incredibly far behind socially, I have no idea if it could’ve ended up a lot worse for me.
This is just the experience of someone who went through a similar childhood that These kids are having to deal with now.

When it comes to assessing how children will grow up, people have been saying since TVs were first commercially available in the 50s that they would lead to a generation of empty headed zombies who can’t think. For even longer than that, children have been prone to tantrums when their favourite toys are taken away from them.
So there are definitely some things attributed to Gen Alpha in this video which are either universal or have been hugely overblown in their scale and effect.
However, there is absolutely no doubt that the way Gen Alpha is growing up is significantly different to any humans before them because they never knew a day without the constant presence of the internet, they can’t even conceptualise it. There’s just no doubt that they, generally, have lower attention spans, a greater need for gratification and a higher vulnerability to bright colours and loud noises which will inevitably shape their media tastes for decades to come.
It’s not a coincidence that the number of mental illnesses reported in people is skyrocketing with every year. And whether you believe every self-reported case or think it’s all made up, the fact remains that more people think they have ADHD, autism, depression and so forth than ever before, that’s something new which is here to stay.
What’s to be done about it? I have no idea because it is so effortlessly easy to put kids in front of the iPad but we are raising a generation of people who become more and more addicted to screens and the validation that accompanies it.

It's always funny when people talk about ipad kids like a force of nature that nobody has control over when the parents are right there

It pisses me off how channels commenting on this issue make such a point of explaining specifically skibidi toilet as dangerous. It has been shown that widely popular franchises like Cocomelon decrease attention span by having so many scene changes, and are way more directly available to kids since they have a Netflix show and merchandise and books and toys etc etc. You can find merch for skibidi toilet but you will almost always be looking for it because the source material has no studio backing. Skibidi toilet will never be intentionally shown to a kid after being marketed as “kids media” to a parent. It might be in the algorithm but it doesn’t bait with bright colors or popular characters marketed at kids. It’s a fad akin to Nyan Cat or Annoying Orange… mindless and hugely popular, but it’s never getting printed on diapers.
Elsagate has been a more directly destructive and inescapable kids content farm ON TH-cam KIDS. Lots of the jokes about skibidi toilet have been that the little kids watching it have no idea what the models are from/know the G-man as ‘the skibidi toilet guy.’ Targeted TH-cam kids videos with inappropriate content hidden inside intentionally feature kids characters to draw kids in with familiarity and trick an onlooking parent to think the kid is engaging with something safe because it’s full of the same characters that come from monitored animation studios. And elsagate content has never gotten the same consistent attention Skibidi Toilet has from gen z and millennials except from individuals that have researched how depraved it is. I feel like skibidi is easier to talk about because there’s an ironic side to it that us oldheads would be interested in even if it wasn’t “what the kids like now” and as a childless ironypilled doomer I think it’s really ignorant that so many childless ironypilled doomers make content about how the thing they are engaging with more and more is destroying the coming generation.
Videos like this almost never consider a parent perspective- just in general, but specifically with the dilemma parents experience of how the media they allow will impact their children. Not to say non-parents can’t comment on these issues, obviously, but a non-parent needs to recognize that parents have had to directly combat predatory media to ensure their family’s mental stability and safety for decades. It is more serious than yapping about the “deeper” implications of a meme for TH-cam money and then being able to drop the subject to move onto another one. It’s an ongoing fight for parents where the literal human they are responsible for is at stake and i imagine seeing so many videos that just explain what Skibidi toilet is wastes their time more than informs them of what is dangerous. I like to see pyro criticizing these kinds of videos for just saying “too much technology le bad” and “covid was harmful” and trying to act like they’ve analyzed the entire problem just by pointing out the most obvious aspect of it.

34:12 The thing with ADHD is that sometimes you get really good memory (with side effects obviously) and when you are trying to cure it you would have less memories that stand out but after a while it gets better.

Bro. He has to at least offer some commentary of his own. Like, he's not gonna just sit like a corpse and watch the video with little to no difference in added content. If him pausing the video is such a hassle to you, then how about you support the original creator by actually watching the original video lil bro.

I just started working as a hs teacher this year and the bit about sts being several grades below in intelligence/knowledge is sadly true. We have 12th graders who can't spell their names. Kids lack critical thinking skills, 11-12th graders literally unable to engage in theoretical thinking... It's insanity.

These kids are also PROUD of not having read a single page of a book in their lifetimes. They are unironically proud of being stupid, they actually say it themselves. It's so INSANE I feel like I shifted into a parallel universe or something
