- So.. this Metal Slug 5 REMAKE was what supposed to be the final build of the game if SNK hadn't rushed the development and scrapping tons of materials. Thanks to Mr Beacon00 ( / @mrbeacon00 ) and his team for re-writing the game codes and adding in the scrapped materials into the place where they were intended to be! Notably mini-bosses Stone Turtle, Black Hound (2nd Round) and Ptolemaios! Please do note that the codes are not officially written by SNK, but the game itself is official.
PS: I died once due to Time Out, but that doesn't count lol since I had to defeat Ptolemaios first before Avatar of Evil.
Once again a huge thanks to Mr. Beacon00 and his team! Good job guys!

The enemies finally realized how OP the Metal Slug was, so they started mass producing it.

I always like it when enemies adapt, like in Metal Slug 3 when the Martians realize how powerful the main characters are so they bait one and captured one to make an clone army of him/her
@@the_bane_of_all_anti_furry I mean that kinda goes for any tank in any of the Metal Slug games, all of them can be taken down by a handgun.
But the Metal Slug itself is literally more mobile than any of the standard tank despite how fragile it is.

This makes the finall boss so much better, I never liked how the mission 4 goes from full water to full desert in the blink of a second.
I don't think that mission 4 is changed... Anyway it's a beach, not a desert.

@@kumibro81 I think it's because in the original game, the final boss appears already as the giant demon, we shoot him and he just fly away, in this version we first "make" him appears and then he fly away, sorry for some mistakes, my primary language isn't english

Because there's like absolutely no build-up towards the final boss, he's just there, suddenly we got to fight him. He is one of the more famous entry of "Giant space flea from nowhere" trope.
The remake at least made the events more connected
Finally, a full version of MS5 although it's a remake. If only SNK can redo this entire game, it would be fun.

Hubiera sido un mejor juego si SNK hubiera tenido mas tiempo para la creación de este Juegazo sin duda, y gracias a los codigos por Mr. Beacon00 por reescribir a los Sub-jefes como Tolemaios, Black Hound, Big Turtle una verdadera joya si no fuera por la falta de tiempo :'3
Metal slug 5 lo tenia todo para ser el mejor metal slug igual o incluso mejor que metal slug 3 pero lastima snk lo lanzo de forma muy temprana

Es interesante el concepto por donde lo estaban llevando pero se siente inconcluso ojalá hubieran tenido tiempo de pulir la idea, ya después Metal Slug 6 es como un plagio del 3 y el 7 es aburrido.
De lo poco rescatable de MS7 son uno que otro jefe y el ost de final attack (jefe final) aunque prefiero la versión de MS5 por la guitarra.

Nice, they only focus in specific changes instead move all the game like anothers hacked rooms.
I saw some things:
3:00 That SV001 doesn't have a real porpuse there, and breaks level continuity
For Stone turtle, it would be good to have a reason to move around it, i mean, to have a more dynamic battle.
About Ptolemaios, i think he has much HP, his battle was a bit larger than i thought. also his stones falls too fast, maybe give a larger time bewteen each stone would be better, and definitely it will be good to reset the timer when you change to the Final Boss.
Anyway, i know most of these come for game limitations, but guess something can be made.

Still, nice to see it with all the bosses... cutscenes (like at the end of mission 1) are lacking, because when you see Ptole just floating to the sky out of nowhere is... weird.
Reminds me of Aacglucas MS7 Mission 7 video, where he times out at the Kraken, even tho it's possible and I've done it myself on my DS. :^P

Wow, this is different than Metal Slug 5 Elite, despite being a ROM Hack remake.
MS5 Elite has been in development hell since forever. It's unlikely they'll ever finish it.
Honestly speaking Metal Slug 5 had so much potential to be on par with 3 sadly it was rushed
MS5E just felt bloated with unnecessary part lol...
Too overdone, 15-30 minutes per stage is just too much lol

No me sorprenderia si es un detalle intencional. Las balas rebotan cuando estan girando los Venusianos en Metal Slug 6
Update: From the footage i saw on the playthough of this by Topeng, not only the Turtle and the leader are added, but also unused areas and enemy rearragements in some missions. Though it needs some work (specially the transition to the Mission 4 boss, a bug when you defeat one of the elephants in the last mission, more attacks for the leader and the time reset when you approach the final boss), i can safetly say that they are doing the best they could to restore it to its original intent.
Oh, and Archilles also shows up during the second fight with the Black Hound.

Las prisas no son buenas consejeras... Es bueno saber que se pudo sacar más del contenido real del juego oficial. Realmente cobra más sentido el jefe final. Y, al menos, con un vehículo de soporte al enfrentarte a él, que simplemente con la pistola y la granadas.

En mi opinion se necesita mucho mas para arreglar este juego carente de vehículos, mira que poner al slug gunner en el logo del juego para que solo te lo den en 2 misiones y te lo quiten antes de entrar al jefe es un chiste bastante malo, c necesitan mas misiones, vehiculos, enemigos y darte un puto vehículo para luchar con los jefes tal como se hacia en los metal slug del 1 al X
La verdad, si bien el slug ayuda a evadir ataques contra el jefe final, también te resta el margen de daño que puedes causar.
Es más sencillo jugarle sin usarlo, ya que evadir las esferas de energía no es tan complicado cuando entiendes como funcionan

Btw, the time should reset when defeating first phase of the last boss, because starting the last boss with only like bit more than 20 seconds left is kinda unfair and impossible.
To be fair, even in 7/XX that was a problem, in the last boss as well
@@Marcelelias11 7/XX is possibly the worst metal slug to me it was more a contra hardcorps game but without none of the improvements necessary on the controls to face such challenge, the game is full of situations where u need an stationary aim but the game lacks of it so u often end in impossible situations where ur only option is die yes or yes

I didn't know that Metal Slug 5 was rushed, with this ROM hack, the scrapped content is now in this game! Now it looks more challenging and fun at the same time! Ptolemaios transforming into The Avatar of Evil makes more sense than just summoning it from the Cultist's worshipping. Now I wish that SNK would remake all the Metal Slug games again with the scrapped content they hidden from us for so many years.
Dang, watched this after your playthrough of MS3. Difficulty, enemy themeing, level progression and quality of spritework really took a nosedive. Has the series peaked or does it get any better from here?
I know I'm late but most of the metal slug community agrees that metal slug peaked at 3 and went downhill from there.
@@iamthehype3684 I don't know about the MS community, but 4 is my favorite. I also feel like the final mission of 3 could've been split into two separate missions. It's a pain with limited lives on the Xbox port.
In my opinion. Metal slug peaked at 3. Went downhill hard, on 4. But went back up in metal slug 5 and 6. 7, and onwards...Went downhill again.

Really wish 5 would have gotten the official X treatment, it deserved to be "Double X" more then 7 ever did. Two additions/changes I would still like to see, wasnt there suppose to be a fight against that slug you use in the final mission in the subway? Like I know you pilot it, but I also recall there was suppose to be a fight against one also. Another change I would make, which idk if this was the intent originally, or was something added in the Metal Slug Attack phone game, but I think the elephant boss was suppose to be on top of the back of the turtle mech, which this one kinda does if the implication is that the entire segment after the turtle is in the tower on top of it, but I think then the turtle boss should be sized a bit more up to account for this.

I'm happy with the MS Anthology, but as a Metal Slug fan, I now know it is an incomplete anthology :P I'll have to pick this up next time I get on my laptop.

Yeah I liked the idea of what metal slug 5 was going for since our heroes had to deal with a cult that somehow stole blue prints for their metal slug tech and it was interesting having to fight metal slugs for once. Shame a lot of the extra content got cut

I can see why the stone turtle wasn't use lol, there's literally no attacks it could have done other than the ones it does in MSA, maybe that's why it got scrapped? But other than that this is amazingly done.

yo hubiera dividido la mision final en 2 partes como en metal slug 3 para que la primera parte desde el autoslug hasta la tortuga de piedra y el resto se va a la segunda parte
