A forehand adapted to your dominant eye, with Amina Zeghlouli | ONE HOUR TRANSFORMATION - Episode 2

  • In this episode, I had the chance to work with a 15-years-old Amina Zeghlouli from Morocco.
One technique I like to test on my players before we jump on the court is to see if they are right or left-eye dominant. Determining this is very crucial for each tennis player. It gives them a new perspective on their game and helps them understand what to take advantage of. It also allows me as a coach to understand how I can help the player improve.
Before our session began, Amina explained she was working on finding more space between her and the ball and maintaining the right contact point. After learning Amina’s eye dominance, I knew we could make her forehand a huge weapon.
In this video, you will see the transformation of Amina’s preparation, contact point, and follow-through.

I feel like I should pay for this coaching session. Thank you Patrick for what you're doing. My FH motion has the same issue as this young lady. I will train to relax my right arm waaaay more than what I did these past months.

Correct : totally free and relax. The body always follows the arm in tennis.

Many amateur players do have an issue with too much tension in their body while playing. So sad they got no one to adress that issue..I myself do have the same issue resulting in bad technique or pain.

I'm a left eye dominant righty this will really help me thank you :) I persisted with the OHBH even though its a known problem for left eye like me - after about 3 months of hell I got it working pretty well.

This is exactly my case - left eye dominant and I was allways told that I'm hitting late on forehand...And no one could explain me why and how to fix this. THANK YOU so much for this coaching and positive energy you share. Best regards from SRB

I am still watching your videos 😅 Definietly I have obsession on tennis. I watch you before my training seasions and it's the first thing I do after them. I have my own team and wanna be WTA player one day, but you also help me a lot 😅 Especially right now (I have the next really seriously injury... Probably I need the third surgery 😢 But I will back again! I have to be the best and feel it from the first time I went into a tennis court. Daily I start my tennis seasion at 4 am and even after surgerys I was training on a chair. It doesn't matter how long and hard is the way, but where it leads. I hope... ). Thanks to your videos I can visual my technic and work on it. Thank you coach Patrick 😊

Merci encore

I don't know if she is left eye dominant.
What I've just discovered is that there is dominant eye for tracking the ball tested looking through hole etc. And dominant eye for pointing or making contact to the ball which is tested by pointing at something.
Hers might be the same. But that pointing test is not for ball tracking but contact point

Great video. Interesting that I find myself hitting late sometime as with the young lady by keeping hand on throat. But if preparing as shown later I may be able to solve the lateness issue but I feel disconnected from the racquet and have no real coil. Thus I’m all over the place. Is there a middle ground or could you comment on that? Thanks

I just can't getbe any more amazed? Every time, you advise/show us, something senseble & new. At 1980 Guillermo Villas showed me, to return, not serve, to returnshrt & light bals, as if you move down the raquetuder the ball, & lift it up , just barely over the net. into the dirrection , that fits the position/ circunstances. Obviously, it's easier said than done, but yes, it diddoes work for me. - - Now, is it possible, a serve, a serve can be done, something like this way? - - Thank you for your educational advisements, much appreciated =

I tried this as a cross eye dominant person and now my forehand really launches and dips consistently. Which cross eye dominant ATP pros besides Federer should I look at?

  • @rosshayden1416

If I look through a hole and close my left eye I'm still looking through the hole but if I point at something like in this video and close my right eye I'm still pointing at it?
So I'm confused because through hole I'm right eye dominant and pointing I'm left eye dominant ?
This makes more sense to me in terms of hitting a ball to be able to point at the ball. I thought I was right eye dominant but when pointing I'm clearly left. This makes for my game as inside out and down line forehands have always been stringer for me because I step around on the ball more
