I watched it with the guys from my unit in 2003 on a laptop sitting in the back of a M577 track while in Iraq. Every night, we would gather up around it and watch one single episode, plus the commentaries from the real life soldiers. We made it last as long as we could. Some of the guys I watched that with are no longer with us. Just a memory from 21 years ago seared in my mind. A powerful and challenging passage that speaks to the realities of Christian discipleship. It highlights the potential for suffering and persecution that believers may encounter for their faith, while also offering a message of hope and assurance in God’s ultimate protection. This verse serves as a reminder for Christians to remain steadfast in their faith, even in the face of opposition, and to trust in God’s faithfulness through all circumstances. It encourages believers to persevere in their commitment to Jesus, knowing that their ultimate security lies in their relationship with God.

It’s always such a relief to find out the people you admire are actually admirable. I come from a large Irish Catholic family, so I sympathize with the extra difficulty saying no to alcohol presents. But after it put one brother in a home and another in the ground I decided that was enough. Anyway, absolutely riveting conversation!
