    Gabby just articulated my 4 pillars of health. 1. Nutrition-you are what you eat, so eat a healthy diet. 2. Exercise-your body is designed to move, so move it in a significant way each day. 3. Stress management- Stress is a killer, so learn how to manage your stress. 4. Sleep- Sleep is when your body repairs and cleans itself, so get good sleep.

      Totally agree. Start early. Never stop. Eat right, exercise, control stress and get lots of sleep.

    Amazing interview , shes a treasure. {not in a 75 year old creepy way}
    I had 3 children with my wonderful wife and after they left home, I thought I had failed, it wasn't until years later I would be talking to them and they would say, I remember "you always said", and I realized , they were listening and thinking , it was me that didn't understand.
    I do the same thing with my grandchildren and they sometimes try to shock me or see how far they can push it with me. In the back of my mind, I hope that we can share that conversation also.
    I feel like humanity is at a major crossroads, we have a choice to either roll over and let someone else drive , or we can say no, I will drive , you are drunk , stupid and evil and I don't trust you. Pretty simple. Everything else to me is nonsense.

    • @jimferris9447
      @jimferris9447 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      75 year old creepy way? 75 year olds aren’t allowed to have an opinion or pay a compliment? I’m not 75 - just wondering what you meant, exactly.
      Also, interestingly women tend to find men that are up to 10 years older than them most attractive at least up until middle age. Then it flattens out or they even state that younger men are more attractive. It has to do in part to their earning potential.
      Men that use dating apps focus on women in their early to mid-20’s regardless of their age, whether in their teens, 20’s, 40’s, or 70’s. Not that the women that age would have anything to do with them, but it’s the age of women all men are most attracted to physically.
      In both the men and women’s case, it is biology and sociology that can explain the preferences. Men subconsciously want a woman that is fertile and can successfully raise offspring. Women place a very high priority on earning potential and social status to provide for her and her potential offspring. A fit man is a bonus as he can better protect her.
      Creepy? Sure. Thats science for you. haha

      Oh Hell No!
      I have had entirely too much of someone telling me what to think ,say or do.
      I'm pretty sure Mike would agree.
      Advise, recommend, coach, encourage, are all good. Mandatory is under threat of punishment.
      Since we don't really have a say in who or what gets to set up what is mandatory I would rather not have any.

      Reminds me of a female sociology professor I had back in the 80s who told the class that calling a woman a lady was offensive. I instantly knew that we were on the edge of the collapse of humanity.

      I was holding the door open the other day for a women behind me as we were entering a convenience store together. She smiled and stopped and put out her hand in a gesture to grab the same door I was holding. She said, "Oh, it's okay. Go ahead. I've got it."
      I simply answered, "Oh, please. Allow me to be a gentleman. It doesn't happen very often."
      She didn't seem offended and allowed me to hold the door for her.

    I don’t know if Gabby will see this, however my brother Cheston Williams in LV (who passed last year) had great admiration and seems to have had a friendship with you. He frequently talked about you and what a great person you are. I vaguely knew who you were from your Volleyball. Anyway, watching this, I can see why my brother had great admiration for you and watching you chat with Mike reminds me of banter I can image you having with Cheston because it played like conversations we had. Thanks for reminding me of what a great person he was, and letting me get to know you a little. Honestly, I payed attention because Cheston had frequently mentioned you.

    I went to college with Gabby. I was a student trainer with football. We just got back from the Fiesta Bowl with brand new Nike cross trainers, and she and I were in an elevator heading up to FCA in the skybox and she looked at my shoes and said, "Those are the ugliest shoes!" Good times!

      I'm just getting introduced to Gabby here. I am impressed! She is my daughter's age whom has a son, 19, and her own 18 yr old, VERY athletic, daughter. The covid compliancy of schools has left both kids out of the running with ZERO sporting events bringing ZERO scouts to non-existent high-school events! THANK U F*UCKI!! Grandson HAD his sites set on REDBULL Cliff Diving team. He was top notch. Couldn't keep him off the diving board since he was 5. Started pro lessons in middle school AND the highschool diving team, also. Knowing colledge was not for him he started entry level carpentry. But alas the hours were not there for him. He found himself back at the Culver's he had worked at through highschool. He's a hard worker, they were glad to have him back. I can only hope that one day he'll own the place! So she, my other grand, had to enroll in a state school that she IS excited about, much more so than I. She is going to make up for that freshmen year of highschool that THAT F*UCKI robbed her of, via this college experience. Idk... wishing they would keep her home the first year at a local school. Maybe that liv-in, away environment will be safer. It certainly isn't out here, anywhere! Found out, her sophomore that she was a NATURAL hurtler! All speedy 5'1" of her! It was all of that keepin up with her brother that did it. Both kids Topnotch competitive gymnasts throughout gradeschool. Which took granddaughter into cheerleader as the team flyer! So proud of her. She does well. Luvs a good challenge! Great work ethic! When u r the little one, u gotta work harder to keep up! That alone will take her a long, long way in life.
      My grands will question THE WORLD, as do Gabby's kids,
      b4 complying to/with any thing!
      I can so PROUDLY say BOTH are MAGA TRUMPERS!!
      To anyone that asks they will tell them, "MAGA.ALL.THE.WAY!!"
      Musta been cathartic to write all this. I do think it was. I hope u've raised ur kids as well as we cuz someday they will need good ppl to be neighbors and work mates, partners with whom to conduct business with, to befriend and share experiences with as
      We are all in this
      TOGETHER... ❤ 😊
      All luv to the always

    Wow, my first time watching and I've always loved to watch anything to do with Mike, because he's just so down to earth and a great user of common sense or at least what use to be common sense and knowing how to say what many of us need to hear. I certainly remember Gabby from years gone by when she and volleyball were often spoke of in the same sentence on a regular basis. These two together just made my day. Now, I'm a 70 year old retired shipbuilder and I worked both in the trades as well as in Supervision so I was on both sides of the equation, building ships for the US Navy. So much of what you both had to say is so very meaningful for so many of us but especially to those coming behind us who seem to be lost and living in a world of fantasy. NOT ALL, but certainly too many I think this pod cast ought to be mandatory watching for all getting ready to make a huge choice, college or trades, science or sports or entertainment and how the long game is so much more fulfilling than a bunch of short game hits and misses. You certainly have a new sub. Thanks so much.

    I. Love this episode…I’ve been a fan of Laird for years and years and Gabby is the other half of the “Hamilton equation’. I’m referencing the concept of taking care of those who take care of us in the service industry…I always tell everyone who takes care of me how much I appreciate them and I thank them profusely. In my 72 years, I’ve worked those jobs, food/retail. I grew up in a dry cleaning business and served the sick and injured for well over 20 years as a Navy Hospital Corpsman. Oh yeah, and I’ve always been a big tipper! PS: I’ve been a major Mike Rowe fan for decades!

    I always enjoyed Gabby Reece as an athlete and model, after watching this podcast I now know why. She is incredibly intelligent, and even more inportant, she is tuned in and gets how society works. My favorite thing she said is follow all society’s important rules and break all the unimportant rules. She marches to her own drummer. Her relationship to Laird seems so strong even though I sure he is a total handful. Gabby keep rockin it!

    Dude. This is my first exposure to your channel. I'm loving it. As Christopher Walken might say "we need more cow bell"... we need more Mike Rowe and these conversations are the answer. Good work. It's fun to see beloved personalities in their natural habitat. I think this is what long form podcasts and interviews allow. I'll have to come back and watch your back catalogue. In case you are wondering, it's not 3 am and I have you on in the background of my home office while I'm sorting through my tax documents. Wishing you tons of success in this channel.

    Too funny. When Gabby mentioned about the Luis guy at the restaurants mission is to turn snotty people, Luis nailed one of my personal super powers, lol. Learned it from the absolute master of this super power. My father. He was a very influential corporate business guy who traveled to almost every country on the planet and had close personal relationships with heads of state, royalty, and the rich and powerful around the globe. Riding his coattails was an AWESOME way to grow up. In reality, he was genuinely just an extraordinary ordinary guy. But believe me when I tell you, he was quite literally the most interesting person you’d ever meet. I say that with all sincerity. We would encounter some of the most snobby elitist buttholes ever to walk the earth at these corporate gatherings or dinners in establishments like Le Tour d’Jean in Paris, etc.. In a matter of minutes he would somehow shatter their whole one upsmanship game and bring the conversation directly into a place where dad had complete control of the tone and context. The dude was friggin’ brilliant. He was also quite gracious in sharing his methods of pulling the snobs willingly out of their comfort zone to where he owned the circle. God I miss that guy. Mom too. She was always a willing accomplice, lol. 😎😎😎
