Me, too! My very favorite part is when they estimate my refraction with a retinoscope. It’s not done as much today after the invention of auto-refractors. From the patient’s point of view, the optometrist scans a beam of light across the cornea and pupil as he or she switches lenses. The retinoscopy is performed in dim light (almost dark) with a red and green target. It’s like Christmas!
I don’t know why it makes me so happy that someone I don’t actually know got the professional eye exam props they’ve been wanting, but it really made my day to see that you’ve gotten the machines you’ve been wanting!
👁🗨 Actual eye exam equipment (thank you for the authenticity investment for us) and realistic exams. I sat through most of those tests at my actual eye doctor just yesterday. I was so surprised you included the red/green one the way you did 👌 The POV you used for the lens testing section was cool. And at the end Dr. James said that my vision had actually gotten better. My eye doctor has never said that before. 🤔 Are ASMR eye doctors more effective than real ones 🤷♂️? - I'm not qualified to say. Thank you for this great video, James! (60K this week!!)
Haha thanks Domrac, believe it or not I actually got told my eyesight has improved not one but two prescription strengths recently. Do you wear glasses all the time? I think it’s from being at home more, wearing my glasses more and straining my eyes less 🤷♂️

You may be on to something - wear contacts less often to lessen the strain. ASMR Dr. James provides some good guidance, real life doctor did not even provide tingles 🙄
Hahah I’m not sure it’s that - I think basically it’s because I generally don’t wear my glasses when going out (don’t ask me why🤷♂️) Since rona I’ve obviously been going out much less, wearing my glasses much more therefore they improved slightly haha. I’m still blind as a bat without my glasses 😂
Thanks Christine, so glad you liked it. I always got the strongest ASMR from real eye tests so I’ve been trying to replicate that. I’m thinking of doing a full video of just the lens bits? Or possibly just the dark room/low light bits, would you be interested in that?

You always give instructions well that I'm happy to follow and find relaxing (look left, look up etc.) I like the new slit lamp but couldn't shake off that it looked like Number 5 from Short Circuit until you turned it sideways after using it! 😂 The lens 1 or 2 is great but is there a chance to click/tap the lenses when you're getting them in and out of the case? It was tingly when you put them on the table but that wasn't really a big feature. Overall it was a huge success. 👍 Thank you so much and I'm already looking forward to the next one.

I had a look back. The sci-fi interrogation was the first video I watched. Captured by the soft speaking and the stethoscope and light triggers! Might go back and enjoy it again. Old but gold!
Yess new video and there was live chat and i missed it...sigh. Ok can we just appreciate that James buyed all this equipment just for us it is so realistic. Sometimes i feel we don't deserved it. I always love doctors roleplays especially the mega realistic like this one sometimes we need to remind ourselves that is rp becouse it felt like real exam. An outstanding video! The only way I could think to improve it would be to add the very soft sound of rain outside. Of course, that would make the eye exam a bit more difficult since I’d be asleep. 😉

Hi James its Chris here. Hey we could just do an eye test with your channel rather than go to our own opticians. This was so realistic but I think you've created a sense of relaxation and calmness for viewers, because if they have to see an optician, then your video gives them something to prepare for that they might have to carry out when they have their examination/test. i.e. asking if the camera if the eyes are clearer with one lense rather than the other. Fun fact: my eye doctor literally would put my prescription higher than it actually needed to be on purpose so my eyesight got better. Though he did this, I still will not ever see perfect. I have topped out at 20/40 with an astigmatism. Minus the eyedrops, the most relaxing place for me outside of my house was the optometrist. My childhood optometrist is no longer efficient, time wise, for me anymore because his practice is 45 minutes away from my house
I love it there too, sadly modern eye exams are super short, they get you in, you look at a couple of machines and you’re pretty much done besides a quick perception test. If you could pay for an hour long, old fashioned exam I totally would 😂

An outstanding video! The only way I could think to improve it would be to add the very soft sound of rain outside. Of course, that would make the eye exam a bit more difficult since I’d be asleep. 😉

@@JamesMatthewASMR Sorry for late reply , James. It used to give me a great tingling sensation when I went to the opticians, especially the red & green light box & wearing the spectacles you put the lenses in,liked the sound of them being changed,also layered on top of each other, hope this helps!

Hi James its Chris here. Hey we could just do an eye test with your channel rather than go to our own opticians. This was so realistic but I think you've created a sense of relaxation and calmness for viewers, because if they have to see an optician, then your video gives them something to prepare for that they might have to carry out when they have their examination/test. i.e. asking if the camera if the eyes are clearer with one lense rather than the other. Fun fact: my eye doctor literally would put my prescription higher than it actually needed to be on purpose so my eyesight got better. Though he did this, I still will not ever see perfect. I have topped out at 20/40 with an astigmatism.
Minus the eyedrops, the most relaxing place for me outside of my house was the optometrist. My childhood optometrist is no longer efficient, time wise, for me anymore because his practice is 45 minutes away from my house
I love it there too, sadly modern eye exams are super short, they get you in, you look at a couple of machines and you’re pretty much done besides a quick perception test.
If you could pay for an hour long, old fashioned exam I totally would 😂
