Mark : Dear , should we really go out sailing in this strong wind ?

Well it settled the Cat V Monohull... question for Nadiana..
I must admit im not keen on an open transom if your facing a following sea . Hence the reason for the cockpit floor dam?
That helm wheel is huge.... 😂
Now the work begins again. 🤞🏼👍🏼🇬🇧

Yes, your European parents! (20:36) If your own parents can't make it to your wedding, which MUST happen soon, then Catherine & Pete are the ideal substitutes

You two are such wonderful people! Mark is back with you Nads, and you both look deeply happy, deeply contented. Long may it be so.
Can you imagine yourselves sitting in lumpy chairs, in 50 years time, saying how much you love each other? Odd, but it is a great ambition!

That girl loves you so much and even made a pillow filled jumper to hug and feel comfort, it's the things you do when you love someone and when you are soul mate's, I'm sixty-eight and when my wife works night I often wake up realise she is working that night and I lay on her side of the bed and can smell her and then I go back to sleep, it's called love and something many couples should have when the partner is away. great video

  • @Artiz...

Outstanding dedication Nadiyana... you should definitely be very proud of yourself doing some 'proper' sailing with 2 rock solid 'sea dogs' showing you the way!
Brilliant episode... tenacious and ready for more! You must be extremely proud of your impressive partner Mark... Nadiyana rocks!
Just that 'old banger' all bolted back in now and you guys can 'soldier on' bringing Minke up to shape over the rest of the winter!
For me ('tumbleweed')... reconditioning that old engine will only add to the final resale value of an original 1970's Sailcraft Catamaran reconditioned to 'comfortably' cruise and live aboard... when the right time comes of course! With a proven reconditioned engine the resale value of Minke will begin climbing again now... but also still plenty of work to keep you both occupied for a good while yet! Crack on guys... 2022 awaits you and your gathering success! There is a difference between 'bodge' and 'dodge' Mark... a bodge never lasts long but a dodge simply moves you up a level as part of a progressive process of getting more professional at maintenance and saving your money wisely for those more expensive improvements which actually increase Minke's value into the future! She's a fine 1970's example of a really solid offshore catamaran built to last for many years yet to come... your outstanding, authentic vlog will become testament to that regarding any future or possible buyers! Just since getting Minke into the water she has now become a desirable 'retro' Mediterranean cruiser... with a few engine reliability issues 😕! Amazing work... all whilst being restrained by a realistic budget too. Exceptional project!
P.S. I can't wait for you guys to set sail for China though! The idea of living aboard an affordable catamaran and doing online English teaching to support my cruising around SE Asia and beyond has long been my dream of freedom! You guys are definitely an inspiration!

Nadiyana, you couldn't have been in safer hands than with two windsurfers on a performance yacht. You couldn't have better teachers than two windsurfers on a performance yacht. You have learned so much more than you think now. That was strong wind for you, it was a trout breeze for them. A big thank you to Catherine and Pete for expanding her horizons so much. Every sailor should be taught to windsurf before they're left next nigh nor near a yacht. brilliant episode

2:00 Problem was the high temperature. High temperature had the reason, that the screws were not fixed with the necessary force. Therefore there was a resistance for the current between the plug and the wire. This made the high temperature and destroyed the plug. Not the water! Only the screws were not fixed enough!

Regarding sea sickness. I do a lot of coastal racing and occasional ocean racing. I find the way that I avoid sea sickness is to take a half dose the night before and then a half dose first thing in the morning with breakfast. During the first couple of days I keep on half dose every 6 to 8 hours. Avoids drowsiness and puking. Might be worth a try. I’m talking Dimenhydrinate 50 mg. The usual dose is 100mg every 4 hours max of 400 per day. So you would be taking a lot less in my regimen.

Being in the forward berth hitting against the wells will make you sea sick. Sleeping is always best close to midship or in the pilot berth. But I admire your willingness to sail in that weather. It show your love for sailing specially in a race boat of that quality and with such great skippers. Good job Yunnan Cow Girl.

That yacht looked like a handful to keep under control, definitely more suited to racing than cruising. I always think that the modern design of open transom with just a thin safety wire to stop you looks very dangerous. An awkward manoeuvre or a big wave over the top of the cabin and there isn't a lot to stop you disappearing over the transom. Give me a good old stainless pulpit any day of the week.

I know couples where the woman effectively takes a secondary role to the man for the sailing tasks whereas they are more able and competent then they give themselves credit for. Doing activities separately is a great way to learn this about yourself.
