Well, in order to fully appreciate Demons & Wizards you have to understand where the band comes from. See it's actually a side project between two best friends in two different bands. Hansi Kurst (vocalist) from the German "Medieval" Power Metal band, Blind Guardian. That's the Wizard. They do what a medieval castle's courtyard band would play if they had electric guitars, drums, and amps. They've been around since the late 80s. And then Jon Schaffer (rhythm guitarist, backing vocals) from the American Power Metal band, Iced Earth. He's the Demon. They've been around since the early 90s. In 1999, Jon and Hansi got together and decided to do a collaboration in the form of a full band instead of doing the "featuring" thing on a bunch of songs on each other's band's albums, right? Well, that album was self-titled "Demons & Wizards" and then in 2005, they did it again and released "Touched by Crimson King." And then there was a long wait. There was talk of another D&W album for several years, but nothing ever happened....until 2019, when they finally put out their 3rd album, simply titled "III" (3). They also decided to remaster the first two albums so when you see remasters on these first two albums, you will know that they are from 2019. They also included brand new artwork. The first one was just slightly modified from its original, but this second one is all new, but in the same vein as the old one. The new art is Sick compared to the original. Much better contrast between the different elements in the image. But anyway, an interesting side note about Jon Scaffer is that gets a huge Patriot, Runs a military artifact museum somewhere in the US. Or at least he did. He was also in DC on Jan 6th. Don't know if he was directly involved with the Riot at the Capitol, but I think he got into some legal trouble about the whole thing. Some fans can't look past this, but I think that just makes him more Metal. If you know what I mean. I've been a fan of both bands since the mid 2000s. Iced Earth is the band that got me back into heavier music back then, so they will always have a soft spot in my heart.
This is a great band. This album is mostly based on The Dark Tower books by Stephen King. Their biggest song is "Fiddler on the Green", (this is an interpretation of some real life events about a boy who was killed riding his bike, then a young girl was killed in the same area a couple weeks later. It's told from the perspective of Death (the fiddler) who made a mistake taking the boy so he went to find the boy's future wife to bring to him in the afterlife) and they have a really dark telling of the Pied Piper called "The Whistler". Great stuff!
So glad I got to see these guys before Schaffer did what he did. Love this album. Massive thanks to whoever requested this. Edit to add, this and a few others from this album are based on a series of books by Stephen King. Where a lot of the references are from
I suggest Myth or Treat made by all of Hololive en gen 1 or Holomyth which includes Calli which supposedly wrote the lyrics in 1 night with a bottle of vodka and the animator was from the community and did this thing in under a week.

WoW I haven’t heard this band in years. I used to have this album on my old hard drive. Now I gotta go listen to Demons & Wizards again hah.
This was a classic jam for me back in High School. I'm happy to listen to this again.

Demons and Wizards were so underrated. Got me through some dark times.
