You should show him Ghost Love Score or The Poet and The Pendulum, or even The Greatest Show On Earth. I think he would be absolutely thrilled about those.
I don't agree. Ghost love score is not for a rocker of his type, but for someone who focuses mainly on Floor's singing. The right choice is Yours Is an Empty Hope (Wembley) or Tribal (live). Let's let him get to know the imagination of Tuomas and the creativity of the band and see what Floor can do with her voice😊
I disagree. GLS is for everyone who appreciates the complex song structure. It's one of the best compositions, even before the Floorgasm. TPATP is one of their best songs (if not the best), even without knowing all the things behind it, and most reactors are never going to get to that level of Nightwish "fanhood", that they would check the full backstory. Heck, most of the "army" thinks that the backstory is that stupid open letter and Tarja's reply. It's not, it's the whole journey before it happened. So do you think they should skip it, because they don't "deserve" it? You are making way too much of an obstacle of it, because it is amazing song. Some of the best reactions to it has been "blind". And I need to say this. Years ago when this reaction scene started, I was among the very first (if not the first one) who were yelling about this backstory thing, but then I realized, that it's very unlikely have the same effect for new fans, that it had on us. They should read everything, watch all those old documentaries, and watch every interview they can find, to even get a bit closer. Even then they can't develop that kind of bond to old Nightwish, which came from years of following their each step. And to know just a tiny bit of how Tuomas felt, you really need to know how they were before things went south. So I think it might actually be very controversial just to read those open letters.
@@NightwishArena I did not mean you have to know the full backstory. I have heard from many reactors that the impact of those two songs (TPaTP and TGSoE) was greater because they had "grown into" the Nightwish music. They were like the crowning glories.
Yes, totally right. Nightwish songs are journeys. They do normally not follow any known pattern. In that respect it is very progressive. That makes them more demanding for the listeners. When you have listened to the song so many times that you know it, then you have learned a new pattern. And, as Nightwish songs are different, it will be many new patterns, that develops your brain. Fans of Nightwish become more complex and brighter one could say 😁.
John is a perfect candidate for the more complex songs by Nightwish, Ghost Love Score should be right up his ally, Greatest Show on Earth would probably blow his mind ;) So you got a job to do Joel, show this man more Nightwish :p
Fascinating. Romanticide is one you might play to someone that isn't ready for the real complex stuff. Its a great choice for someone stuck to American mainstream. I'd love to see what this guy would make of GLS or Poet. He's obviously a thinker.
Ya know what is the super cool thing about Floor? On any given day she is International rock goddess, Netherlands national treasure. To Sabaton she's "just our drummers' wife and two little kids just know her as MOMMA (which in my book is one the best gigs in music.
I really liked how John pointed out Nightwish isn't traditional. They're definitely not that. And if he thought this by watching Romanticide, then I wonder what he'd think about the more complex songs.
Nightwish is not traditional. We've all heard the boring basic pop/rock music and that's why we enjoy them instead. Sadly it's also why US radio/tv don't play Nightwish as it's too complex for the masses. Consider that this is one of their simple songs. At least the next one by The Warning will be pop/rock.
That is a great thing about Nightwish, non-traditional. Same reason I love Twenty One Pilots. Not their radio successes but the songs the fans really love
interesting comment John made about European audiences being more receptive to bands. Everywhere else in the world, Nightwish sells out large festivals and arenas. In America, they play mostly clubs and small stadiums.
So, he likes journeys with unexpected patterns. I think you shall show him BAND-MAID, Hanabie, Lovebites and Ayreon. The day the world breaks down (TDTTWBD) by Ayron would be perfect or even better Everybody Dies, it is very prog. TDTTWBD is more epic though. We Love Sweets by Hanabie is very prog. I think he will like that. But actually, "Pardon me, I have to go now" is a story. From BAND-MAID, maybe Play? It has no structure. They have several. From Lovebites we have a Frozen Serenade, Swan Song, Break the Wall and several other proggy ones. Lastly we have Nemophila, but they are not all that proggy, they stick to more traditional patterns. They are best though 😉.
I have some issues...Why always same songs from NW or just rotating 3 bands with 1-2 singers with the same songs...What about some Fleshgod Apocalypse, Septicflesh, Amorphis, Ensiferum etc...
Different guitars, what's amazing is that Empuu is playing both the rhythm and lead parts and sometimes both at the same time.
"They love music more" that's a great compliment.😀
I feel ya. I have tried to introduce Floor and Nightwish to everyone I encountert, even a nurse tech when I was in the hospital.

@@marty6945 I concur.
IMO TPaTP as well as TGSoE are at the end of the journey. Enough heavy, unexpected material by Nightwish to explore before those.

Nightwish is always at their best playing live😊💜💚

Epicness right there on that stage Joel as always with Nightwish 🙏😊👍❤️

Interesting content. Not many see the song construction first and not the skills of the lead singer or the band.
Oh and in structure arena there is a lot of classical thoughts in the way they build things.
He’s cool!❤
I don't know if there's a version of the episode that are longer? More interview in-between the songs
He might appreciate Ghost love score, greatest show on earth, poet and the pendulum stuff. I'd love to see some of those reacted by him
I known personally the bassist of the band Ataris.. The Duke man.
Man, show him Ghost Love Score, or even Wishmaster for the the great guitar solos. Great analysis!
That is a great thing about Nightwish, non-traditional. Same reason I love Twenty One Pilots. Not their radio successes but the songs the fans really love
Nightwish and Blink 182 on the same bill, I would literally fly anywhere to go to that show.
Please let him react to "Ghost love score"!
Yeah, Nightwish is not your typical traditional band.
🤗🍒🤘🏻
please do som reaction on Ghost River its so hard song!!!!
"being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up"
NW are fans of Pink Floyd. NW has video of "High Hopes" check it out. Tuomas writes in Movements like PF. Marko could be the front man for any band.

Tuomas would do “traditional!”🤘🎸
You really need to play him some Epica. Consign to Oblivion would be a great choice.
interesting comment John made about European audiences being more receptive to bands. Everywhere else in the world, Nightwish sells out large festivals and arenas. In America, they play mostly clubs and small stadiums.
I love his United flag ❤️
By the way why is John listed as writing The Boys of Summer in some places when I thought it was Don Henley ? I know Ataris did a cover.

US audiences historically have seemed to struggle with progressive song structures……..maybe they have to think too hard.
Your funny considering some very big prog rock bands have come out of the us … dream theater and tool just to name two …
@@timlubbers2884 Yes just two.
@@scifimonkey3 wow, and you accuse Americans of being close minded …
If he's facinated in changes he may like Ghost love score. If he wants it similar to the cookie cutter stuff Story time is a bit more paletable
A man utd fan 🤘🤘
have you lived under a rock !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
His description of his music doesn't want me to go look it up. It will be interesting when he watches a couple of rock/metal bands from Asia.
To bad . He's from Pink Floyd ? lol
Now you have to show him "greatest show on earth" or "ghost love score" just for science 🤟🫶
