Here is a Video about a very common repair in my Luthier Workshop a detached and completely torn of Bridge of a acoustic, classical, western Guitar. I have fixed so many of them. At the end of the Video you can see how I do the String Loops when I restring a Classical Guitar. You can follow the whole repair Process in this Video. Great video, as always. I was wondering, when you were cleaning the gluing area: Were you worried at all about the remaining thickness of the soundboard? Could it become too thin?

Thanks a lot for your positive feedback. That’s a good question. Yes that is possible but to avoid this I try just to clean up the old glue and by sanding this area with 80 grid Sandpaper I produce a roughly surface that the new glue get as much grip as possible. This is a old Japan made Classical Guitar they have very thick tops. You have to be careful with handmade Spanish Guitars they are very thin. Best Regards Nik

Why did you cut your sanding block at an angle? Aside from that, that's a nice, sharp chisel. Nice work!

How much this classical guitar has to cost to justify the cost of the repair? This is a couple of houndred euro repair.

clamps are not available like that to a lot of people who do know what to do...and tools like luthiers have are not available to most owners of damaged guitars. A lot of fellows do not have money for tools or a luthier!

Thanks for sharing your experience and opinion. I have this clamps for about 30 years know and there are about 10 € and If your buy them used even more affordable.. These are really useful tools not just for Luthiers. Best Regards Nik

I melt the ends of the nylon strings and then wrap them.... so they will not slip at all ...

Why score the back of the bridge (8:12)?

Thanks for your question. I have learnt that on my Luthier School. Rosewood can be very oily and the cutting or scraping allows the glue to get a better grip. Don't do this on the spruce to it will weaken the Wood and the fibers can get damaged. Best Regards Nik
