Awesome as always Kevin. This was a nice relaxing camping trip. No rain, No mishaps, perfect steaks, and a nice warm tent to crawl into. There were a ton of spiders yikes 😬 😳 which would 😳 have had me running into😬 the tent, but you made it through. Thank 😊 you for sharing and for all the hard work and time you put into your videos. KEEP ADVENTURING GOD BLESS YOU 🤗HUGS🤗
I love your quirky sense of humor! Hopefully you can grow even bigger, and continue doing what you love for a long, long time. Just don't grow so big that you can no longer fit in your Small Plots.
Glad i ran into this channel. I found you through Sam. My sister lives in Rochester and i am a fellow Nyer. Good to see that where ya live ya still make amazing trips for our enjoyment.. Thank you. Been watching for awhile and decided to flap my lips on this one.. Keep up the enjoyable content. Much love from the tri-cities.
If no one answered yet, the plant at 14:50 is Mayapple (podophyllum peltatum). And from my internet search: This flower blooms in late spring, and then is replaced by a small, egg-shaped green fruit. The leaves of the plant, along with the fruit (when it is not ripened) are toxic to dogs, both internally and externally. Although the fruit of the Mayapple is toxic when unripened, it is edible once it ripens.
I was on a trail in Tennessee on Mount Leconte and walked through a patch of Mayapples. I was surprised by by a pair of little bear cubs running through the mayapples and climbing a tree. They were off to my left. As I reacted to them on my left I was startled by their mother thundering downhill from my right. Scared the tar out of me. She went by in front of me to her cubs.
My gmas property in southern Ohio that’s been in the family for gosh at least 5-6 generations plus mayapples all through the woods!❤️my gma always told me the story to never pull out put one with the root cause it’ll scream and the scream will kill you lol. Old southern Ohio folk tale I guess lol. I can say in my later years I did pull one somewhere for my ex girlfriend so she could hopefully get more to grow and I didn’t hear any screaming lol maybe my tinnitus from my army days helped me out lol. Plus I can concur about morel mushrooms too cause when I was a kid in the 80s we would go home with grocery bags full of morels❤
Awesome. I was losing hope that you would find a beautiful place to camp. Such a pretty place. I really enjoy your narration and photography. And your Bicycle!
I had hoped to find Space Kitty while in Tennessee. I didn’t see it. It must be local to NY. You’ve convinced me that I have to try steak cooked directly on the coals.
Nature beckons us to go hiking and fills our thoughts at any time of the year! Once you realize that you can no longer stay at home. You literally rip off your jacket and backpack from the hanger and go into the woods. Where there are no people, where the smells of wet pine needles and smoke mix and silence reigns. The forest accepts us as we are. And we are his guests, not the hosts. I am grateful to you for your interesting video!
Kevin, I feel like we need to go camping sometime. You like local brews. I love local brews. I really need to try that steak cooked ON the coals. It looked so good. Plus I like to camp and would love to try hammock camping.
And the third comment? Would be that I subscribed to your channel bro. Cuz yeah. Love it. And tell Sam I said hi next time you guys do what you do. Because I love what you both do! I'm a bush crafter and I am trying to be a camper as well so thank you very much for inspiring me to get out there and have fun again!
Dude here that appears out of nowhere is a gift from God or a brewery somewhere it is not to be taken lightly you have magic beer and you have a free Ridgeline now I will shut up and continue to watch the video 10 minutes in this video is filled with Wonder
Looking at it you can add o modify your tent by adding bug net in front of the tent or on the roof front part around. And by doing that you set your chair seat outside your with the bug net. :)
14:48 they are May Apples, there would be 2 leaves to the root and between them 1 apple on a stem. What I know of them is, eat a few only if you can, not everyone can eat them, too much will make you uff. I've not had them in 40+ years, the patch across the road from me has failed for the last 10 to set fruit. (some random web site states) Use Food: Ripe (yellow and soft) fruit is edible raw, but in limited quantity. Collect in August or September The fruit has a lemon-like flavor and can be used to make jams, jellies and marmalade.
Watched again. The gospel music is epic. I get a kick out of the fire making segment. It’s not rocket science. Ha. I once had a person comment that I was wrong not to have rocks around my fires. Louisiana is built out of silt. The rock is thousands of feet beneath my feet.
I left that spot raining and the biggest concern I had was driving out that dirt road in my Civic. Had to get out a couple times and poke some puddles with a trecking pole to make sure it was a giant hole to eat my car. Can only imagine what it was like after your torrential rain adventure!
Yeah, it gets incredibly rainy there! This might have been my first time there without rain. I even cut out like 3 rain stories from when I was telling rain stories because nobody needs like 25 minutes of rain stories haha
Great as always, my friend! The camp and nature are truly amazing. Enjoy watching how you cook this delicious meals. And the surrounding nature is amazing. Cheers, bro, and welcome to my channel about Russian bushcraft tips! Regards, Yuriy!

One of the few things I miss about living in Southern Commiefornia is the Mexican meat markets. I used to hit El Metate and buy a couple pounds of their thin cut el cheapo flank steak for camping. I would also buy some of their hardwood mesquite and white oak. I would marinate the steaks in a gallon zip lock baggie with salt, pepper, garlic, rosemary sprigs, soy and Worcestershire sauce and toss them in the cooler. At camp I would shovel out a long bed of the hardwood coals then lay a pound at a time of the steaks on the coals as fast as possible then flip them in sequence after about a minute, give them another minute on the other side then take them up, stack them on foil, wrap in the foil and wrap them up in a towel then repeat for the rest. After letting them rest and carry over cook in the foil and towel just unwrap and me and my buddy's would scarf them down with our fingers. The potassium hydroxide in the ash just becomes a sauce and helps break down the connective tissue making them tender while resting in the wrap and converts to potassium carbonate and potassium glutamate which if you are like me while camping I tend to drink more beer than water and sometimes end up with severe calf cramps in the morning due to low potassium. That trick gives me a potassium boost as well as tasting awesome.
I'm sorry for commenting so much but there is something that Steve Wallace did that I went out and purchased and it works great and it is a little thermacell it really does keep things away from you it's got like a 10-foot radius and I never heard of it and I watched one of his videos for he used it and I went out and got one and I don't know your budget I don't know the prices in New York but at least look into it therma cells are awesome they work better than citronella's

Is this the Allegheny forest by any chance? I'm in the UK but I've seen in my books how beautiful it can be.
It's not, but it's not too far away... about a 2 hour drive. Definitely some beautiful ancient glacier-carved geology around!
Do you know what the music is you used near beginning? It reminds me of Paul Hardcastle, who I like a lot. Or is it actually him? Thanks.
The "Small Plots" theme is "Hold on You" by Kevin Macleod, the song I used right after that during the walk in is "Cycles" by Destiny and Time.
