As soon as I hired this in Madeira Portugal for five days I wanted to buy it. But I wanted style so went for the Forza 750. Traded in my BMW R1200RT. What I like about the manual mode is the you want in auto you’ve slowed down auto will change so it won’t labour the engine. I did a round trip London to Hinckley and back turn a nice 71 miles to the gallon. Also ordered the central locking top box. I absolutely Love it. Also later fitted the pair of side panniers. Did a trip to France Spain and Gibraltar then home through Madrid to Santander for the sailing to Portsmouth. 2200 miles over ten days minus two day in Reinosa waiting for the ferry. Never faulted me.
This is the first of your reviews I’ve seen: excellent and practical comments for everyone ( is not too technical), clear sound with the right amount of piece to camera v action shots and great photography. I’ll be back for more guys.
Great video! I find your videos relaxing and informative. I love the uniqueness of it of the X-Adv. I have the ADV 150 similar a lot smaller obviously. I love it! It’s a blaster ride I can do 70 which is all I need.

I rode big bikes all my life, but age and injuries have caught up with me so I reluctantly brought a Honda Forza 750 (the road version). Once you get used to it it is so comfortable on long distance riding as you can move your feet to get them comfy. It is well engineered, at 110 mph it is rock solid stable even in a cross wind which surprised me. If your a member of a bikers club you may get some stick but as a person who doesn't give a damn what other people think it suits me.

I have the Forza 300 which is such a joy to ride, the Xadv is a fantastic maxi Scooter may even well be the Daddy, stick some off road tyres on it you can go off road no problem and have fun, stick boxes on you then have a tourer with ample storage, and comfort, go on the B or A Rds the Xads give any sports bike a run for its money, gearbox is incredible, bullet proof engine, great mpg, sounds great,
Wish you guys and others that do these great reviews of this bike could lobby Honda to bring it to Australia. It would tick a lot of boxes for a lot of people.
I do like this bike. I've seen it 3 or 4 times here in London and it looks cool (to me) sounds cool, I think it would be a good buy. Thanks for the review guys 👍🏻
I traded my R1250GS for one of these (I'm getting on a bit and found it difficult to manoeuvre when not riding it). The seat on the X ADV is tall though - I am quite short so I lowered the rear suspension, put the forks up through the yoke to 20mm and fitted a shorter side stand from a Honda 700 Integra which makes it a lot better for me. I love the looks, the comfort and the DTC gearbox and it is quite nippy in sport mode. You definitely need the extra off road pegs if you are going to stand up on it though.
Top marks again guys. I know it's not your normal fodder but it's so different you just can't ignore it. I saw one on camo abroad a couple of years ago and it grabbed my attention. 750 ... So not what yould expect in a scooter, I reckon with luggage you could do miles and miles on it. Not a scooter, not a motorcycle .... Really different and a brave idea from Honda. I'm still not sure but do appreciate you guys picking it out for a review.
That classic looking Honda CB350 Highness you showed in this video is a nice looking motorbike manufactured in India and sold only on the Indian market. I wish it was available in the UK and Thailand where I live as its simplicity, bench seat makes sense to me.
There are so many of these around in Italy. The 2023 model has had few nice updates, especially in the electronics department, rider modes, new TFT screen and so on. Anyway I would consider it for urban riding with a nice SC pro or Akrapovic titanium......
Just part ex'ed a yammy super tenere 1200 for one of these, and i can honestly say im blown away with how it rides, the dct gearbox is just like silk. You have a hard job to tell its changing gear,i dont miss the manual gearshifting. If you can get past what you look like and experience the amazingly comfortable riding position (6ft1"),then your in for a very nice riding experience. Also mine is averaging 70+mpg with a mixture of sport and standard modes. The negatives are too much plastic and poor powdercoating on centre stand and lower chassis, but some painted on gear oil solves this.So please try one if you get chace,i guarantee it will surprise you.🏍👌
When we saw you in the terminator, there your knees did not rest against your chin. After your ride, Honda decided to beef up the frame. And thank you so much for the sheep. There will probably never be such tech-savvy little animals on conals.
interesting concept, not everyone wants a sports bike, perhaps this provides an alternative. With respect Mr Darcy looked a touch ridiculous perched on the pillion seat, lol. Great review guys, Cheers.
I took one of these out for a 45min test ride when I was at ‘Bikefest’ at Goodwood and couldn’t believe how well it performed. It went and handled brilliantly (which I hadn’t expected at all) and once I’d got over the fact of the ‘scooter’ feet forward position it was a great ride and way faster than I expected. The automatic gearbox was always in the right gear at the right time and I couldn’t fault it. Like you my only criticism is that I don’t really like the looks but I think most bikers would be shocked if they took one for a spin. Not sure I’d fancy taking it off road though!
I would love to get one of these. Looks great, though I dont expect we will see them in NZ. We have some great trails around the Top of the South and this would be a hoot. Will stick to the 701 lol. Nice vid.
I love the X adv ever since they came out, this updated version is gorgeous and sounds even better with a nice pipe, can get over 80mpg with it too, its a heavy beast though so try a Tmax to compare, not off roady but great on the twisties.
Weird is good , thankfully we still have companies like Honda that will think outside the box with the likes of this bike and the NM4 Vultus they help make riding more inclusive and allow some people to ride longer into their golden years with their auto gear boxes and innovative designs
@@MrDarcy-OlMan yes they always manage to come up with something that is top draw the distil and refine it over the years like Porsche have done with the 911 to keep it above the competition
@@andrewjohnson4475 I certainly am a Porsche man, I think the Honda gold wing reminds me of a Porsche. Mainly because of the engine and dct. The Ol’Man used to have a Carrera s, fantastic car!
As a maxiscooter owner in the US, in addition to traditional motorcycles, it would be nice to again have the larger cc scooters available. This one is the pinnacle. In the maxiscooter genre, the looks of this one seem to fit just fine to me. Even that small dip in front of the seat could be helpful in kicking the foot through if there’s a duffle strapped to the passenger seat, instead of having to kick it over the driver seat. Looks like a great machine that I will likely never get to try. Thanks for going out on this limb. I wish I had the option of even considering one.
Thanks for sharing/posting this video. I really do like the looks of this scooter. Sadly, there are no plans for it to come across the shores to North America. Cheers!
To me it reminds me of the Honda PCX150, which morphed into the Forza, then leaped to the ADV-150, and now this. The thing about a scooter is, they are light and nimble, great in urban environments. Once you hit 750cc you must add strength aka weight to handle the speed, power, etc. You lose that scooter benefit and it becomes a different tool. I don't see this as a maxi-scooter. A hybrid of a motorcycle and scooter. I think very clever and it does appeal to me. I love my CVT transmission, I did read the set-up on this one and it is ingenious and different. Kudos to Honda for pulling that off. Huh, just noticed they are not selling it in the US. Sadly, the seat height is too high for me. I'm 5'6", 29" inseam. I own a Suzuki DR650, put on a lower seat that is so comfortable, wish I could recall the brand, but after suspension sag, it's still probably around 32"- 31". I have to stand on tip-toes unless I wear heavy riding boots, then it's ball of the foot. It's the only bike I've owned that has frightened me at times - due to the seat height and suspension dive. Get off camber at a stop sign, or sliding in the dirt, oh boy, your butt can pucker if you aren't quick about mitigating. I wish someone would make a lower seat-height vehicle like this. I'm aware of the physic's and that is asking for too much, but maybe if they changed the frame a bit. I believe they could sell more product and attract the female buyers who tend to have smaller inseams like me. Not all, don't get me wrong, but there is something about being able to plant your feet that gives you more confidence. Great review, love your videos.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan I have read reviews, but we don't have a decent dealership network here in the US, none in TN where I live. Keep making these great videos!
The back story to my Honda PCX150 is that I was dying for something different. Went to the Honda dealer with my then 12yr old son, and I sat on a dual purpose Honda 250 and he said the seat is too high, made him nervous. The whole purpose was to find something for him to ride me with me. He looked around and said "Hey, this scooter looks pretty cool". He sat, I sat, hmm...sold. I'd never contemplated a scooter. Fell in love with them. Man, what a machine it is, handles like a Ferrari, I kept up with a Ducati 999 on twisty roads, he couldn't use his horsepower, I could late brake, total confidence that thing gives, catch-up, and off he was gone in an open stretch. He went a few miles down the road, turned around, looked at my scooter, shook his head. "Really? Really? Huh." Never ever underestimate what a light scooter can do in twisty roads. My son and I rode for miles and miles on it, I live in one of the most beautiful places in the US, with roads people travel all over to ride on. Look-up Franklin TN and Liepers Fork. Well worth a visit, and minimal police on the backroads, so you can wail.
Not seen a recent review of the XAdv always fancied giving it a see what it’s like. There’s always the question of is it a bike or a scooter? It sort of falls between but is really a nc 750 in different clothes. It does have a proven off road record winning the 2019 7000km Gibraltar adventure race beating full on adventure bikes in the process.
it DOES have a manual gearbox. You need to select it. On the right bar, there is a grey button to select automatic, manual or neutral. if you select manual, there are paddles on the left handlebar for manual gear change. it really is easy. maybe the reviewers did not notice this. I have one of these by the way. I live in Thailand. Having said that.........maybe the UK spec does not have this function..........but i would be very surprised if that was the case
No … UK spec/all spec have manual/auto select and the reviewer (for some reason) neglected to mention it and it’s a key element of this particular scooter that differentiates itself from other ADV scooters.
Thank you very much for making videos you and your Pa Pa are Awesome-I am thinking probably Honda X adv might be my next scooter bike-At the moment owned 2 Yamaha r1 and 1 Kymco spade 150cc-After watching videos about X adv I kind really like it-Because I am a small short man 150 pounds-3 years every day I watched and find out do some research about motorcycle-I am 52 years old I enjoy riding motorcycle every day and I love motorcycle-Be safe love you all the biker around the world-Excellent and Respect from me love you!!! Thanks
Good reviews. X-ADV is based on an NC750X DCT engine and frame, altered to move the luggage space under the seat. Like the NC750X, the weight is low down, as the engine tilts the cylinders forward and the fuel is held low down too. I owned a 2017 NC750X, which has a hard seat. Both the Forza 750 (road going 'scooter') and the X-ADV, are scooter bodies on top of a regular motorcycle frame. They are more expensive than the NC750 but have better quality suspension, TFT display and twin front disks. The DCT is an automatic gearbox rather than CVT, there's no engine hanging off the swing arm.
Engine seems amazing, it looks decent, and it's probably the most scooter I'd personally go. I do appreciate maxi scooters for what they are - a good form of urban transportation, but they never lure me in. This one, despite being bonkers, has the "so dumb it's actually interesting" thing. It kind of seems like what the classic bagger cruiser would evolve into, given the history turn out just a bit differently (and people not loving the mid XX century styling so much).
Btw guys You father son duo are jus amazing Loved all your reviews since I started watching ur channel Very subtle and the best thing abt u guys would be your ape like sizes and showing us how even a good bike might look funny with a height like urs 😂 Love from India !! And ya the CB350 is a good bike as well… I’ve been riding tat since a year Hope you can review them some day
Another very nice review! I actually have as a my daily bike the previous version of the XADV Honda ! I am very happy with it ! Regarding the looks either you like it or not, it is a bike that you choose with your mind not with you hart ….
My second bike is a kymco ak550. No Eng heat on a hot day. Pretty good wind protection on a cold day. It's very quick and nimble and it will cruise at 80 mph
They should seel these in the U.S. I feel like more people would get into riding because they wouldn't have to shift through gears and you have the storage of a scooter, but the speed of a motorcycle
Fantastic bike, I could easily see myself owning one. Just got to save the pennies as they're not the cheapest, but for good reason! Great video too, learnt a few things about the bike (extending screen and a handbrake) from this video than I have from the other few videos I've seen, great work.
Great job as always guys!!! Wales nature broke my heart!!! New ADV350 it’s excellent, but 750 too much for transmission….and Off road for this bike like a ship on ice))
This definitely wasn´t the bike I expected to find on your channel, as far as Scooters go it doesn´t look bad though. I sat on one at my local Honda dealer and could hardly get my feet on the ground. Regarding the buttons, I am getting my NT 1100 next week (which I am buying because of the comfort), which is actually even worse, I have decided I shall concentrate on riding the bike for the first month, and then fathom out what the buttons do. It´s probably safer that way. Anyway, as usual another good review, have fun and ride safe.
Thanks very much! We fancied stepping out of the box a bit and it’s a very good bike. Good idea to ignore the buttons for a while! I’m really not into all that but lots of people love it
Yes looks like a cross between a big scooter and a bike. I think scooter riders would like it. Personally not my cup of tea looks wise , but it seems to go at a good speed and has a nice sound.
I'm changing my opinion slowly over this one. I first thought "who the hell will want that? It's expensive for a commuter and under-useful for an ADV", but I'm starting to see. Especially when you learn it has customisable performance, so you could presumably set it up exactly for whether you are commuting into a city, touring long-distance, or heading down country lanes (and switch it at the touch of a button). I loved my Fuoco (Gilera's version of the Piaggio MP3 500) because it was very capable and functional, but still fun. I guess this is a similar, but possibly more refined and sophisticated, deal. I'll have to give it a try and see if I can compare to how I remember my scooters riding. I guess if I were still scooter commuting every day I'd be definitely setting up a test ride...
I live Nebraska USA. Nice bike. I average 30 miles one way. Gas and oil is getting crazy. I have a Honda CRV 2021, AND A HONDA RIDGELINE 2022. 25OOO MILES A YEAR! IM GOING TO LOOK AT HONDA SCOOTERS.
*what in most people head about adventure bike are : - must be big and bully - must look heavy - must look strong like a Bull *what i think of adventure bike : - must be comfortable for long ride - must be Light weight - must easy to fix or have easy brand name like have dealership in almost every country . (experience)
Thanks for your review. The X ADV is a very usable package but not really a thing of beauty. I have the more road orientated Forza 750 which I love and in my opinion looks great.
You can get a footpeg kit. The main point of the bike for me after sitting on one was the very comfortable seat which supports more of your rear end. Very important when you have Arthritis. Also now I am 69 I want the auto box for ease of riding. I think the thing I might struggle with is not having a tank between my legs which I find helps with handling, IOW I prefer bikes to sit in, not on a bike. Maybe you get used to it. I will see soon. I like the fact that a lot of the controls and dash are very similar to my Transalp 750. The horn is a bugger to find, though.

You can buy fold-down rider footpegs as an option. Useful if you want to stand-up when off-road. They're the metal grippy ones.
OK we didn’t know about that 👍🏼👍🏼
I took one of these out for a 45min test ride when I was at ‘Bikefest’ at Goodwood and couldn’t believe how well it performed.
Yea it’s much better than it looks. 👍🏼👍🏼
These are fantastic. That engine is just superb. I've hired them several times before (for several months at a time overseas).
Wish Honda fitted a nice swing arm like that onto the NC750X...
So do I. And the handlebars. And the adjustable screen.
Good video guys. I enjoy the relaxed approach! The sound of the engine was spot on as most dealers here in Ireland don't stock the X-ADV.
Thanks buddy 👍🏼👍🏼
I would love to get one of these. Looks great, though I dont expect we will see them in NZ. We have some great trails around the Top of the South and this would be a hoot. Will stick to the 701 lol. Nice vid.
I don’t think this will come close to the 701 in the trails although it’s great on the road
Love to ride over there, but it's too far, i'll stick with old Zeeland, 😜👏🇳🇱 NL, Abel Tasman's great great great grandson😁
I love the X adv ever since they came out, this updated version is gorgeous and sounds even better with a nice pipe, can get over 80mpg with it too, its a heavy beast though so try a Tmax to compare, not off roady but great on the twisties.
That’s great! I can imagine what it sounds like with a different pipe! 👍🏼👍🏼
Nice Bike, beautiful landscape in Wales 👍Thank's for showing.
Thanks! Yes indeed 👍🏼
Seems like a very practical, comfortable and sensible machine. Personally practical and sensible aren't things I look for.
I get that 👍🏼
Weird is good , thankfully we still have companies like Honda that will think outside the box with the likes of this bike and the NM4 Vultus they help make riding more inclusive and allow some people to ride longer into their golden years with their auto gear boxes and innovative designs
Honda are just great at making good bikes!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan keep the reviews coming and keep the humour in them
As a person with a disability that would be perfect for me to tour on
As a maxiscooter owner in the US, in addition to traditional motorcycles, it would be nice to again have the larger cc scooters available.
Thanks very much. Good points that help make sense of the bike
There are additional footpegs that can be mounted for offroad or more motorbike feeling.
Didn't ring my bell but thanks for a good review
Yes I totally get that. Thanks bud
Thanks for sharing/posting this video.
I really do like the looks of this scooter. Sadly, there are no plans for it to come across the shores to North America. Cheers!
Thanks buddy. Ok that’s a shame 👍🏼
I like the looks, the sound is great! I think i ˋd be happy on one of these.
Awesome 👍🏻
Thanks very much ❤️ Have you ever considered a royal Enfield Himalayan?
A tractor on two wheels. I wasn't expecting that deep growl.
And it's fun to look at this review, especially because of the "girls". 😁👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really good review. No faff or bollocks. Personally I like the looks. Loving the sheep guy the way.🫣
This bike is a monster motorcycle a monster, beautiful bike
Nice bike, love the adv approach.
Are they soay sheep? They liked the Honda for sure😂
Thanks! They are Manx Loaghtan sheep; similar to Soay 👍🏼
I actually think it’s a great looking bike, great engine size, would love to give it a ride on some country roads!
Bike looks great, I would consider if brought to the states.
OK that’s good to know! Thanks for the comments 👍🏼
I enjoyed the goats and sheep! Unfortunately we have not gotten the 750 in the U.S..
it DOES have a manual gearbox.
Thanks we did notice 👍🏼👍🏼
No … UK spec/all spec have manual/auto select and the reviewer (for some reason) neglected to mention it and it’s a key element of this particular scooter that differentiates itself from other ADV scooters.
@@ianmcrae8860 All Honda DCT have manual/auto so it’s like mentioning it has handlebars
You mentioned it had an auto gear box though …. Why bother doing that?
@@ianmcrae8860 because that’s very different to a normal manual
Even the sheep wanted to ride the x adv 😆
Thanks buddy 👍🏼👍🏼
Well informed.
That step-through makes more sense when you put a Givi box on the pillion.
Ahh ok 👍🏼👍🏼
Engine seems amazing, it looks decent, and it's probably the most scooter I'd personally go. I do appreciate maxi scooters for what they are - a good form of urban transportation, but they never lure me in. This one, despite being bonkers, has the "so dumb it's actually interesting" thing. It kind of seems like what the classic bagger cruiser would evolve into, given the history turn out just a bit differently (and people not loving the mid XX century styling so much).
Interesting points indeed 👍🏼👍🏼
Btw guys
You father son duo are jus amazing
Loved all your reviews since I started watching ur channel
Very subtle and the best thing abt u guys would be your ape like sizes and showing us how even a good bike might look funny with a height like urs 😂
Love from India !!
And ya the CB350 is a good bike as well… I’ve been riding tat since a year
Hope you can review them some day
Thank you very much haha, really appreciate it 😁😂
Another very nice review! I actually have as a my daily bike the previous version of the XADV Honda ! I am very happy with it ! Regarding the looks either you like it or not, it is a bike that you choose with your mind not with you hart ….
Haha yes good point 👍🏼
Just curious why the speedometer kind of blurred at around 6:00 when the bike went over 60 🤔 really cool scooter 😎
Yes we wondered about that 🤔 It must have been a sudden deceleration.
👍🏼👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan loving your reviews, gentlemen... especially on the Rebel 500, Rebel 1100 and Royal Enfield Classic 350.
Happy subscriber here 😁
My second bike is a kymco ak550.
No Eng heat on a hot day. Pretty good wind protection on a cold day.
It's very quick and nimble and it will cruise at 80 mph
Thanks
Thanks buddy! Much appreciated
Love it , gotta GSXS-1000 & an Aprilia RSV4 , seriously considering swapping the suzuki for this highly practical machine , thanks for the vid
They should seel these in the U.S. I feel like more people would get into riding because they wouldn't have to shift through gears and you have the storage of a scooter, but the speed of a motorcycle
And there is Place for weapons
Fantastic bike, I could easily see myself owning one. Just got to save the pennies as they're not the cheapest, but for good reason! Great video too, learnt a few things about the bike (extending screen and a handbrake) from this video than I have from the other few videos I've seen, great work.
excellent review, excellent humour, had me laughing when the guy grabbed the other guy from behind, also his comment about the girls
Great job as always guys!!! Wales nature broke my heart!!! New ADV350 it’s excellent, but 750 too much for transmission….and Off road for this bike like a ship on ice))
Thanks very much. Yes it’s ok off road in the dry
I’m really not into all that but lots of people love it
Absolutely not my style, I mean scooters, but I really enjoyed the video. Thanks ! ✌
Thank you, yes not our style either
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Yes me either,, but thanks for broad range of coverage
Yes looks like a cross between a big scooter and a bike. I think scooter riders would like it. Personally not my cup of tea looks wise , but it seems to go at a good speed and has a nice sound.
Yes well summarised 💯
those sheep are beautiful
Looks like a fun bike. Best selling Honda In Europe by quite a margin apparently..
Good work👍
Wow that’s interesting!
Honda's most successful motorcycle with 44,000 units sold since it's launch in 2017
I'm changing my opinion slowly over this one.
I think anyone used to scooters will love it!
Great review the bike looks like you could have some real fun on it in town or as a get to work ride , I don’t mind the looks and could live with it 👍
Thanks buddy. OK awesome. And that engine!
I live Nebraska USA. Nice bike. I average 30 miles one way. Gas and oil is getting crazy. I have a Honda CRV 2021, AND A HONDA RIDGELINE 2022. 25OOO MILES A YEAR! IM GOING TO LOOK AT HONDA SCOOTERS.
Sheep clearly dig the bike!
Ur my Favorit Englisch Reviewer. Thanks for your work
*what in most people head about adventure bike are :
- must be big and bully
- must look heavy
- must look strong like a Bull
*what i think of adventure bike :
- must be comfortable for long ride
- must be Light weight
- must easy to fix or have easy brand name like have dealership in almost every country . (experience)
Yes you’re right Abi. 💯
This bike is going to be a HIT! 😁
Thanks for your review. The X ADV is a very usable package but not really a thing of beauty. I have the more road orientated Forza 750 which I love and in my opinion looks great.
Thanks very much. Ok that’s great 💯
you should have tested it with the extra foot rests for a better gravel ride... greets from Dresden
Unfortunately we just get what Honda give us
You can get a footpeg kit.
NC750 might be a better fit with a tradional tank between legs
