This video was extremely helpful. I just did this repair with the Dorman kit. Everything went smoothly, unhooking the cable slowed me down a bit, ended up turning the panel upside down so I could see the cable tabs better and used some needle nosed pliers on it. Also for some reason I don't know why I had trouble getting the top door pull bolt to start ended up opening the window and using a clamp to pull the panel in tighter so the bolt would reach the threads. The Dorman kit doesn't include any glue like some of the kits but I had some on hand so I figured I might as well use some. I like that the Dorman kit replaced that plastic part with metal the plastic broke on mine just like the one in the video. If I knew it would break so easy I would have been more gentle with the handle.
Great video dude! I usually work on garbage trucks had to work on this today you helped me out alot got it done quick with this video body work is a completely foreign language to me lol
I have a 2009 2500 Duramax. I broke the small pin in the inside door latch handle (not the handle itself). I can open the door from the outside, but the inside lever will not open the door. Do I need to replace the entire hand as shown in this video, or can I just replace the pin? Thanks
@@Graybeard_ I don't think you can get the pin by itself. But it all depends how it actually broke (damaged the plastic). You'd have to remove the door panel to take a look.
I have a manual interior door latch. Replaced with a handle with a strengthened handle assembly , screws in the kit would not hold so I drilled through the door and inserted 10x32 bolts using self locking nuts, probably not the best looking but until this handle goes its gonna work for me. The screws and bolts will be reusable for next time. Very poor design by GM made in Taiwan

Why didn't you use the super glue that came with the kit
You can go on line to 1 A auto and get a repair kit for $58.
Cool thanks for the heads up.
Looks like mine exactly
Cabel definitely didn't slide off lol.
Thanks! It's not the best design for sure!
