I’ve not seen people hate it but I think it’s because most of the comedy relies on tgwdlm more so than just making it’s own jokes (obv there are some of its own jokes ) just that the main jokes were from tgwdlm ya know :/ I DO LOVE IT BTW DONT GET ME WRONG😂

on the actual day of black friday last year i had tickets to see it (bc how fun is that) but lauren, dylan and kim were all really sick so they had to cancel the show and instead they had a little cabaret performance for us where they just performed songs from the show out of context and then they tried to recreate tgwdlm from memory in 30 minutes and it was just the greatest thing ever. they refunded everyone’s tickets but i genuinely would have been totally okay having paid to see it. (it was definitely the work of some kind of black friday curse though.)

Jeff accidentally spit on me my second time and I have a pinch of fluff from the wiggly he shot because it flew under my seat 😂 I bought a wiggly the first time and am glad I did! Angela made me cry every night with Black Friday. She was such a sweetheart at the stage door. They were all so incredibly sweet! But ummmmmmmmmm I do have to gripe a bit about you not liking Take Me Back 😭 I love that song so much.

I'm glad you like Black Friday. The fandom seems to have pretty split opinions about it, but personally I'd rank it second only to Twisted. I think they took a huge leap forward in terms of the maturity of their writing, and proved to me that they can really nail original works (as opposed to parodies, which they've always been great at).
I really love how you can see how much Starkid has improved over the years. Like, iirc, they started as a college group? And I feel like each show they get better and better. Better equipment, better writing, better acting. It's really cool to be able to see that change. I also think that's why so many people consider TGWDLM and Black Friday to be their favorite shows. Personally, I think it would be really neat to see Starkid revisit some of their older shows and rework them in their current style.
I would love to see them redo me and my dick. At first, it was my least favorite show because I really disliked the music, but I have realized that it is actually one of my favorite soundtracks. The problem was that at the time some of the actors were not at their best vocally, but I think if they redid it would be amazing.
That's called °•○► funding ◄○•° This was their highest budget show, and it broke a record on Kickstarter as the biggest funding in some category that I don't remember (the last one to do that was TGWDLM). But they also have improved tremendously over the years, and the funding wouldn't be possible without the fans, so really it's not just money.

They rereleased Wiggly a few weeks ago and I preordered two. One for me and one for my mom. Just keep checking their socials and because occasionally they restock. I do love this show so much! And Beckys “I killed my husband” monologue was my first drama assignment monologue. Also the singing is a little off because Lauren Lopez got the cast sick and for the first time in Starkid history they had to cancel a show (and I believe it was on the Black Friday)

As I'm an Australian Starkid fan, my actual Wiggly I bought myself for Christmas, ended up costing almost 90 Australian dollars, with all the shipping and currency conversion... And I would pay more without a blink for my fluffy demon. My cat gives him a "bath" every night and it's adorable. Also willing to pay more for a Pokey Doll, who is my favourite of the brothers (He's the one who caused The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals/ Yellow Jacket, my two favourite Hatchetfield stories).
While this isn’t my favorite starkid show, it’s definitely in my top 3 and I think it’s definitely the best one overall (acting, singing, cinematography, etc). After being a fan since AVPM in 2009 seeing how far they’ve progressed really makes my soul happy. It’s so refreshing to see smaller creators having fun with theater 🥰🥰
One of my FAVORITE SK shows and I was SHOCKED to find out a lot of the younger parts of the fandom disliked it. It’s SO SMART and a phenomenal commentary with creative humor and just as great characters and SUCH GOOD music and even better writing
I can understand younger fan's feelings - Black Friday is getting far away from SK's original brand of light upbeat satires on popular movies. But I love the direction SK is taking into darker, more serious, character driven shows and Black Friday is my favorite

I’m not sure if you know, but StarKid have another series set in the Hatchetfield universe called ‘Nightmare Time’. They created most of this throughout lockdowns in 2020 and 2021 and are super cool to watch. They revisit heaps of cool characters and the songs are absolute bops (thanks to Jeff Blim). The second ‘season’ so ‘Nightmare Time 2’ hasn’t been released on TH-cam yet but they should be posted later this year. I would love to see you react to them, especially Nightmare Time 2 since the videography, songs and just whole vibe is absolutely amazing, and it definitely helped me get through last year. Definitely happy to explain this further as well if needed! Love your videos and keep being you ❤️
The way Black Friday was shot is handsdown why I was underimpressed when they finally released the proshot of Hamilton, tbh (and yeah, Starkid hadn't figured out filming like this in 2016 when Hamilton was filmed either, I know but Black Friday got released first).
This is my favorite starkid show! I also agree that the pacing is the best in this one. I personally subscribe to the theory that the timeline just keeps getting reset and that they are the same characters as TGWDLM.
it was lovely to see such a positive reaction to this!! when it first came out i adored it but my friends didn’t seem to have the same reaction. i think it was a mix of unfulfilled expectations and the shock of how different it is to the rest of their musicals. but you can see how hard they worked on it, how wonderful all the music, filming and all else turned out. it’s so great to see familiar faces return, have curt finally join and to see so many new faces who’ve been wonderful additions to the starkid world and have been just as kind and interactive with us fans as the other starkids. i can’t wait for the next musical, whenever that may be, and for all that they’re releasing in between.
I agree with every word! I think Black Friday grows on you; at least it did with me. The ensemble cast has more backstory than previous shows;there is more at stake. The musical numbers are more complex and benefit from repeated hearing. I initially didn’t like the songs as much as TGWDLM but now it is by far my fave SK show. I can’t wait to see what Nick and Matt do next

Yes, you definitely should make some videos about the new Starkid and Tin Can Bros. content! Starkid has just finished releasing season one of Nightmare Time, their three-episode Halloween series. Episode one of the series is out on TH-cam, but you have to purchase tickets to watch the zoom videos off of their website if you want to see the next two episodes. Tin Can Bros. is also currently working on a series called Wayward Guide, and those episodes are coming out weekly on TH-cam and on Spotify.
Starship & Twisted have been my faves for YEARS & then I didn't watch StarKid from about 2015 onwards: Black Friday was the musical that brought me back into loving them. The songs, storyline, cast are all incredible. For me, having Dylan back brought it to another level too. It's just incredible!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! If you don't mind spending money on StarKid I'd recommend downloading the tours (there's clips on TH-cam of these for free!!) espec Apocalyptour which has more of a storyline to the show. Also Homecoming was the ten year anniversary show & I sob every time I watch so highly recommend!!!

One thing I didn't notice until I had rewatched it is at the end when they sing What if Tomorrow Comes, like half the characters are from TGWDLM. Paul's Boss, Emma, Paul, Charlotte, Ted, Bill, and Hot Chocolate Boy are all there which isn't a coincidence. They had to switch costumes just for that scene. Watching the episodes they had live streamed recently (first one free on their channel) really intertwines everything even more. My mom and I were literally screaming about the things they made happen. Gahh. I want you to see them so we can talk about them.

"Wiggle" is, in my personal opinion, the best song in the entire musical besides "What If Tomorrow Comes?" I believe the reason why I love this song so much is that it has big Disney Villain vibes. "Wiggle" combines comedy, tension, and drama all in one song, and our queen Lauren Lopez just KILLS it.
It's the same universe, but a different dimension, or that's what we're led to believe. Not a lot of info is actually out on this, but I believe that this is the biggest theory. (It's also kinda gay, and nothing convinces me more to watch something that a little queer representation, so there's that.)
I personally really love when Starkid have long scenes, I enjoy them a lot haha. I think that's because I am primarily an actor, so it makes me feel like I can see myself in those shows because there is something for me. Of course I get that it's a musical and the songs are super important and are the hook of what makes them fun, but it kinda feels bad and like I don't have a place sometimes knowing that not many people appreciate the scenes as much as they do the songs. But oh well haha, really enjoyed the video and I am glad you liked Black Friday! It's one of my favourites too!

I really enjoyed this show! The music is so good and the story is interesting while still being a criticism of extreme consumerism (what better setting than black friday) and the filming style was the best they’ve ever had and I loved it! I recommend Spies Are Forever by TinCanBros, most of the actors r from starkid and I really love the music and storyline.

I'm glad you like Black Friday. The fandom seems to have pretty split opinions about it, but personally I'd rank it second only to Twisted. I think they took a huge leap forward in terms of the maturity of their writing, and proved to me that they can really nail original works (as opposed to parodies, which they've always been great at).

I really love how you can see how much Starkid has improved over the years. Like, iirc, they started as a college group? And I feel like each show they get better and better. Better equipment, better writing, better acting. It's really cool to be able to see that change. I also think that's why so many people consider TGWDLM and Black Friday to be their favorite shows. Personally, I think it would be really neat to see Starkid revisit some of their older shows and rework them in their current style.
I would love to see them redo me and my dick. At first, it was my least favorite show because I really disliked the music, but I have realized that it is actually one of my favorite soundtracks. The problem was that at the time some of the actors were not at their best vocally, but I think if they redid it would be amazing.

This was their highest budget show, and it broke a record on Kickstarter as the biggest funding in some category that I don't remember (the last one to do that was TGWDLM). But they also have improved tremendously over the years, and the funding wouldn't be possible without the fans, so really it's not just money.

Black Friday's honestly one of my favorites due to it feeling the most like a true "musical" and not a silly spoof (my other faves are TGWDLM, Twisted, and MAMD)
I do love this show so much! And Beckys “I killed my husband” monologue was my first drama assignment monologue. Also the singing is a little off because Lauren Lopez got the cast sick and for the first time in Starkid history they had to cancel a show (and I believe it was on the Black Friday)

As I'm an Australian Starkid fan, my actual Wiggly I bought myself for Christmas, ended up costing almost 90 Australian dollars, with all the shipping and currency conversion... And I would pay more without a blink for my fluffy demon. My cat gives him a "bath" every night and it's adorable. Also willing to pay more for a Pokey Doll, who is my favourite of the brothers (He's the one who caused The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals/ Yellow Jacket, my two favourite Hatchetfield stories).

While this isn’t my favorite starkid show, it’s definitely in my top 3 and I think it’s definitely the best one overall (acting, singing, cinematography, etc). After being a fan since AVPM in 2009 seeing how far they’ve progressed really makes my soul happy. It’s so refreshing to see smaller creators having fun with theater 🥰🥰
One of my FAVORITE SK shows and I was SHOCKED to find out a lot of the younger parts of the fandom disliked it. It’s SO SMART and a phenomenal commentary with creative humor and just as great characters and SUCH GOOD music and even better writing

I can understand younger fan's feelings - Black Friday is getting far away from SK's original brand of light upbeat satires on popular movies. But I love the direction SK is taking into darker, more serious, character driven shows and Black Friday is my favorite

I’m not sure if you know, but StarKid have another series set in the Hatchetfield universe called ‘Nightmare Time’.
They created most of this throughout lockdowns in 2020 and 2021 and are super cool to watch. They revisit heaps of cool characters and the songs are absolute bops (thanks to Jeff Blim).
The second ‘season’ so ‘Nightmare Time 2’ hasn’t been released on TH-cam yet but they should be posted later this year.
I would love to see you react to them, especially Nightmare Time 2 since the videography, songs and just whole vibe is absolutely amazing, and it definitely helped me get through last year.

The way Black Friday was shot is handsdown why I was underimpressed when they finally released the proshot of Hamilton, tbh (and yeah, Starkid hadn't figured out filming like this in 2016 when Hamilton was filmed either, I know but Black Friday got released first).

This is my favorite starkid show! I also agree that the pacing is the best in this one. I personally subscribe to the theory that the timeline just keeps getting reset and that they are the same characters as TGWDLM.
it was lovely to see such a positive reaction to this!! when it first came out i adored it but my friends didn’t seem to have the same reaction. i think it was a mix of unfulfilled expectations and the shock of how different it is to the rest of their musicals. but you can see how hard they worked on it, how wonderful all the music, filming and all else turned out. it’s so great to see familiar faces return, have curt finally join and to see so many new faces who’ve been wonderful additions to the starkid world and have been just as kind and interactive with us fans as the other starkids. i can’t wait for the next musical, whenever that may be, and for all that they’re releasing in between.
I agree with every word! I think Black Friday grows on you; at least it did with me. The ensemble cast has more backstory than previous shows;there is more at stake. The musical numbers are more complex and benefit from repeated hearing. I initially didn’t like the songs as much as TGWDLM but now it is by far my fave SK show. I can’t wait to see what Nick and Matt do next

Yes, you definitely should make some videos about the new Starkid and Tin Can Bros. content! Starkid has just finished releasing season one of Nightmare Time, their three-episode Halloween series. Episode one of the series is out on TH-cam, but you have to purchase tickets to watch the zoom videos off of their website if you want to see the next two episodes. Tin Can Bros. is also currently working on a series called Wayward Guide, and those episodes are coming out weekly on TH-cam and on Spotify.

Starship & Twisted have been my faves for YEARS & then I didn't watch StarKid from about 2015 onwards: Black Friday was the musical that brought me back into loving them. The songs, storyline, cast are all incredible. For me, having Dylan back brought it to another level too. It's just incredible!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! If you don't mind spending money on StarKid I'd recommend downloading the tours (there's clips on TH-cam of these for free!!) espec Apocalyptour which has more of a storyline to the show. Also Homecoming was the ten year anniversary show & I sob every time I watch so highly recommend!!!

One thing I didn't notice until I had rewatched it is at the end when they sing What if Tomorrow Comes, like half the characters are from TGWDLM. Paul's Boss, Emma, Paul, Charlotte, Ted, Bill, and Hot Chocolate Boy are all there which isn't a coincidence. They had to switch costumes just for that scene. Watching the episodes they had live streamed recently (first one free on their channel) really intertwines everything even more. My mom and I were literally screaming about the things they made happen. Gahh. I want you to see them so we can talk about them.

I'm glad to see someone else who really enjoyed this part of Black Friday as much as I did! "Wiggle" is, in my personal opinion, the best song in the entire musical besides "What If Tomorrow Comes?"
I believe the reason why I love this song so much is that it has big Disney Villain vibes. "Wiggle" combines comedy, tension, and drama all in one song, and our queen Lauren Lopez just KILLS it.

Ok, so Black Friday exists in a separate continuity to TGWDLM, but they both exist in the same canon. Most people I believe theorize that they exist in separate universes in a larger Hatchetfield multiverse.

Amy, you will LOVE Spies Are Forever! the music is a fukin bop, the plot is honestly such a deep dive (kinda based on stuff that was actually happening) and the whole thing is just really professional. (It's also kinda gay, and nothing convinces me more to watch something that a little queer representation, so there's that.)

I personally really love when Starkid have long scenes, I enjoy them a lot haha. I think that's because I am primarily an actor, so it makes me feel like I can see myself in those shows because there is something for me. Of course I get that it's a musical and the songs are super important and are the hook of what makes them fun, but it kinda feels bad and like I don't have a place sometimes knowing that not many people appreciate the scenes as much as they do the songs. But oh well haha, really enjoyed the video and I am glad you liked Black Friday! It's one of my favourites too!

oh, you have such fun ideas. id love to see you build a wiggly! that sounds so cool! i love the tin can bros shows (spies are forever is a fav of mine, honestly) and since the halloween stuff is the most recent, maybe do tin can first? since the nightmare time stuff is SO new, literally out this month. and some of its for paid watchers only right now so that makes its more difficult. (we try as a fandom not to post videos from starkid’s pay only stuff bc its SO rare that they do it, its rarely a permanent “pay only” for the big story shows, and the team need the funds to continue making their great content!)

I really enjoyed this show! The music is so good and the story is interesting while still being a criticism of extreme consumerism (what better setting than black friday) and the filming style was the best they’ve ever had and I loved it! Also, I think it’s hilarious that you fell headfirst into the Wiggly appeal, if only because of your face when you realized where they were going with it.
