Hey man, these videos with your dad are awesome! My dad and I don't have a relationship like this so watching your videos makes me happy to see what a loving father and son relationship looks like!
You should upload more videos so TH-cam will pay you more, Tyler. So love watching and following your adventures does not matter in America or in Viet Nam
Hello Tyler and your Dad, pho in US are more health conscious whereas Saigon Pho are all about flavor .Also slurping in Vietnam is considered a compliment for the chef that the food was that good. Your dad looks very comfortable at that restaurant as a frequent customers.
Dear Mr TYLER, The reason I Like this video A Lot because I watch this good video with my wife. I as weLL as my wife watch your video TWiCE because my wife is a Vietnamese LADY, and my wife REALLY REALLY enjoy watching your video, because my wife tells me that your Vietnamese pronunciation is VERY Good. My wife is Vietnamese, my parents are from SiNGAPORE, and I Love Vietnamese people and Vietnamese foods. Speaking of Vietnamese food (pho), in this video, you (Mr) TyLer are generous to give that BowL of Pho 6.1. The reason is: my Wife and I have been eating Pho throughout California, [more than one hundred Pho restaurant from the Southern California to Northern California ]. My Vietnamese wife tells me that Pho in California wiLL never be as AUTHENTIC as Pho in Saigon and Hanoi in Vietnam. My Vietnamese wife gives Pho in California a 4 on the scale from 1 to 10. one more thing, the waiter (who takes your order) is not as friendly as true Vietnamese that you met in Sài Gòn Vietnam. My wife enjoys watching your videos because my Vietnamese wife thinks that you (Mr.) TYLER are very smart man, because it is very difficult for an American man to speak and pronounce Vietnamese WORDs as correctLY as you do. My wife and i reaLLy appreciate your polite and respectful ATTITUDE toward Vietnamese people, therefore, my wife and i wiLL continue to watch every single video that you make and upload on your TH-cam channeL. Thank you TyLer for another GREAT video, you and your father have a nice day.
Good to see you back with your videos where you mention PhoHolic. You will absolutely love the pho there as it is my favorite especially Stanton location
Nice to see your dad enjoying Vietnamese foods with you. Memories to last a lifetime, for sure. You are fortunate to have that wonderful relationship, too. I also like the sidewalk cafe's in Vietnam, sort of like you are doing here in Cali. Here in the Philly area(s), outside Vietnamese eating is a rarity. Pho tai chin with Cafe Sua Da is my favorite. Now I'm hungry....enjoy!
Watching you and your dad meet after so long makes me want go back to Canada to see my dad faster after I now live 5 years in the Philippines being an expat.
I think you gotta travel a bit southeast from there to the actual "Little Saigon" area where the food is more diverse, abundant, and of course more authentic.
If you prefer rare beef in the Phở, you should ask to put the raw beef on a separate plate. Then you put the raw beef in the bowl by yourself. Also some VNese restaurants in US that let you choose between minced or sliced beef. Hope it helps and enjoy!
It always makes me happy seeing people outside of our ethnicity love our Vietnamese food. You have embraced our culture beautifully and with respect. I’ve only watched a few videos and recently subscribed. A lil disappointed in the hospitality of the first waiter. We are normally much more gracious to those who have learned our language and embraced out culture. I’m glad the second uncle made up for it. I hope your show grows in subscription!! It’s wonderful content. But perhaps it’s because you make me nostalgic for the South Bay as well as hopeful I’ll get to go back to Vietnam one day to experience the sights. On that note - you should try this whole in the wall in Rosemead called Banh Xeo Quan. Hands down best Banh Xeo. Anthony Gold (RIP) from the LA Times rated it highly. I’ll even meet you up for Banh Xeo if you go. 😊
Also, if you want Pho Tai Bo Vien - next time ask them to leave the beef on the side rare. But make sure the broth is boiling hot when they deliver it so you can dip the rare beef into the soup. Another tip - ask for green onion stalks in the oil…take a perfect bite of the pho, then follow up with a bite of the green onion stalk. Delicious. Also, ask for sliced white onions and squeeze lime all over it. Add it to your bowl of pho!! Yummy!!
Hi Tyler and your dad, I haven’t watched your videos since you left Vietnam. I am happy to see both of you back again. To answer your question about the broth, I think Pho in America in general contains less beef bone than pho in Vietnam because it is costing more these days.
Hello,Mr.Tyler. After finished watching your video. You are absolutely right about Pho 🍲 soup at pho dreams restaurant. You’re right about the soup water and the beef and the bowls sizes. I went to a lots of pho restaurants in Little Saigon in California. In my opinion that I think pho in Vietnam taste a lots better. It’s has a natural taste to it and the price is much cheaper. Oh by the way, you speaking Vietnamese language. You’re great 😊
You should ask for a "chén béo" or fat bowl to add to your pho for a richer/fattier flavor. In the state, we don't want more fat. Thus, the chef usually scoops the broth under the surface. The pho noodle in Vietnam is fresh. If you like a rarer sliced beef, ask for it on the side or "tái để riêng".
I was told that in San Francisco, there is a breakfast place which serves a fantastic pho in the morning. There is a long queue outside the restaurant every morning. It's not a Vietnamese restaurant, it's near the Embarcadero.
Hey Bentley , your viet is excellent 👍. You should take your young dad to (Pho Vy) in Westminster, and try their Pho duoi bo (ox tail). It’s one of the best pho I ever had.
I always thought that Phở and other dishes that were made in Vietnam tasted so much better than the ones made from the Vietnamese people that have migrated to the US, Australia etc
Tell your dad to try Thai Lai restaurant on Prairie if you don’t want to drive to OC.. more decent VN food. Try Mì Quảng and Mì khô đặc biệt..of course cơm tấm thịt đặc biệt
The vegetable you are referring to is Thai basil. I have noticed often in the States jalapeno is served with the herbs. In Canada they serve birds eye chili, mint, and cilantro also is included.
I find that the Pho in Australia is exactly as you danked yours..although if you can find a Vietnamese area it does improve and more authentic. I’m looking forward to a Saigon pho next month..I’m still up to buying you a beer or coffee if your around 👍
Your review is really sharp!! Most Vietnamese restaurants in America outside of Vietnamese communities are not authentic, they're catered to people who are not familiar like you.
Being half Vietnamese and born in Long Beach; if I slurped my noodles, I’d definitely get a smack on the back of the head with a pair of chopsticks for eating rudely from my mom.
It depends where you go back in LA. Some of the pho restaurants in Orange County have a bit more flavors (cooked longer and more fatty). But nothing compares to the motherland of Vietnam tho.
Pho in the US costs 10 times more than in Vietnam. However, the number of pho each restaurant sells daily in Saigon, Hanoi and other cities in Vietnam can be 10 times higher than in the US. Therefore, the revenue from selling pho for each business household in Vietnam and the US is equal.
That's a big contrast from Vietnam to California. Especially the prices and weather 😂. There's only rare places that make the broth a long time with good bone broth in the US.
Actually Phở in Ameria is the best to many vietnamese living abroad. Many Pho restaurants are not the same though. Some good, some not good. You should try Phoholic in OC. Good to see back in America.
Hey if u Eat Pho in USA it will be Hit or Miss never the same as Vietnam Pho. I don’t go random pho place only go where the Best pho place. Good Tip for Knowing good Pho place is Alway Crowded of Peoples inside or Waiting outside 👏👏👍👍
Phoholic is good. But hands down Phở 79 is the best. Very flavorful and clear broth. Phơ 101 in Westminster has the same taste because they are of the same family. They are recipients of both Zagat and James Beard Awards. Been around for over 40 years!
You and your dad should go to Little Saigon, Westminster in Orange County drive about 35 minutes from El Segundo they have all kind of Vietnamese foods the best in California itself. i live in Orange County . Have a good foods
I know this video was filmed back in April 20th, but I wanted to update you that PhoHolic in OC, the quality of it has gone down quite a bit. I would no longer go there or recommend anyone to go there. Hope you enjoyed your time back in LA with family 👍
Flat noodle is pho tươi vs dry noodles.. restaurants in Orange County, they will ask if you prefer the flat or dry. It’s def not authentic phở .. I walked by many times and often told my American husband I rather American food over phở dream 😂
The broth is supposed to be clean. Unwashed and unstrained has oils in it. The Libs complained about raw beef, that’s why it’s cooked not raw as it should be.
Hey man, these videos with your dad are awesome! My dad and I don't have a relationship like this so watching your videos makes me happy to see what a loving father and son relationship looks like!
Invite your dad come travel Việt Nam!

Tyler, your extensive experience living in Vietnam has given you a deep understanding of what authentic Pho should taste like.👍
Hi Taylor, you should try Pho Holic in Little Saigon. It’s very delicious !!😋
The bushard location

Wow… you speak Vietnamese very well! This is my first time watching your video. 👍
the green vegetable is called basil leave or húng quế in Vietnamese.
I'm so impressed, my son barely speaks and read Vietnamese. Thanks for your video

If you prefer rare beef in the Phở, you should ask to put the raw beef on a separate plate. Then you put the raw beef in the bowl by yourself. Also some VNese restaurants in US that let you choose between minced or sliced beef. Hope it helps and enjoy!
Basil is the green leaf with stem
Húng quế
Great video. I'll see you when you come back.
You should try Pho Tasty in Cerritos- it might be more to your liking

PhoHolic, PhoHolic2, PhoHolic in the costa mesa mall are super good! ( Little Saigon - OC)
Dad needs another ice tea and his bowl surely didn’t look any larger than Tyler’s.
Indeed, I was thinking the same, the small bowl was the same as the large one.
its a trick, they just add more soup base and some place more noodles.
@@tylertran93nsx😂 Khôn nhà dại chợ 😂🤷♂️🤷♂️

The vegetable you are referring to is Thai basil. I have noticed often in the States jalapeno is served with the herbs. In Canada they serve birds eye chili, mint, and cilantro also is included.
yeah jalapenos seemed like the go-to "ot xanh"
That herbs called Thai basil. But where is the Culantro? In Vietnam pho also serve with rice patty herbs.
I find that the Pho in Australia is exactly as you danked yours..although if you can find a Vietnamese area it does improve and more authentic. I’m looking forward to a Saigon pho next month..I’m still up to buying you a beer or coffee if your around 👍

They defat the stock in the US but you can ask for a bowl nuoc beo at no extra charge to add as you please.
It depends where you go back in LA. Some of the pho restaurants in Orange County have a bit more flavors (cooked longer and more fatty). But nothing compares to the motherland of Vietnam tho.
those are the signature american fresh pho noodles, they are supposed to be al dente like that
The herb is basil. If you smell it you will know immediately
Hi Taylor! You are more Vietnamese than me lol… cause I want my soup more lean that is more healthy 😂

Your father uses chopsticks very well.
Add sriracha into hoisin sauce it gives more taste Tyler.
