Love the relationship between you and your dad! You guys work so great together. This project is really shaping up pretty dang nice. You guys make me feel like I can tackle any project I set my mind to. Can’t wait for part two!
I love how supportive your dad is! You can see how proud of you and your work he is but he lets you know and it just makes me 🥹🥹🥹 I love your videos and the amazing work you do!!
HUGE congratulations on 10K Tiff - fantastic !! - I loved this video so much It was brilliant and hilariously entertaining :) I adore your Dad and his mate together they are so funny. I wish the UK ice cream vans, did Chocolate :( they need to ! I might start a petition lol Finally the deck is looking proper amazing :) so fresh and gawjuss :) xx Great job to Toni on the filming and editing too - it honestly felt like watching a TV show on HGTV :)
What a team. And you're all managing to stay in good spirits despite annoying setbacks of the complex chevron detail. I'm looking forward to seeing it all finished. I bet it will look incredible.
Yay, a Tiffany video! Oh my, quite an undertaking. It's looking really good. Excited to see the final deck. Oh, and nice herringbone/chevron pattern, lol.
Let me just say - I freakin LOVE your Dad! He cracks me up so bad and he is so cute! Great job! I love watching you and your Dad work together and I really enjoy your videos.
don’t know how the algorithm picked this video for me but I’m glad it did. The way you all work together and interact it heartwarming. I have been buying my daughter pro tools one at a time over the years. She recently has been screening in my enclosed deck. I was taught as a young girl to use tools and fix and build things, that knowledge has saved me hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years doing projects around my home. More girls should be familiar with tools and building. I am now a happy subscriber to your channel as is my daughter. Thanks for this awesome girl power content. 🌈 ❤️
I love your channel so much! You and Toni make a great video duo, and it's so nice to see you doing DIY improvement with your Dad. I've been working with my dad on my home, tiling and putting in heated floors, but you're way more comfortable with power tools than I am :) You inspire me!!
Way to go Tiffany! This video was well worth the wait! Can’t wait to see the final reveal. The dynamic between you and your dad remind me of my dad and I. Always teasing each other but the love is clearly there. Also, your filming and editing keeps getting better with each video! 🎉 Keep it up, I am rooting for you girl!
You guys are taking on a big project and it’s moving a bit slower at the start but I have faith that you’re going to get done on time. You all are working really well together and as quickly as you can given what you have in this 8 day time line. It looks great so far and I can’t wait for the next update. Great job so far! 👷🏻♀️🔨🪚🛠️🪛👷🏻♂️Go Tiff & Team!
This was great! Loved the editing and filming, Toni. Also, what in the actual ice-cream-cone-glory is that kind of neighborhood ice-cream truck? We couldn't get so lucky in my city. That was a delightful surprise! Hey, for future tricky measuring, you might like using a contour gauge. They really take the brain bending out of measuring tricky cuts.
At 25:53 I would suggest cutting all the boards 1/2" longer than the long point of that diagonal cut and square at that end. The first and last boards you can put a 45 cut on since the saw will not cut right up to the posts or railings after you get that section done and are making the final single diagonal cut on all the boards at one time. Cut 45 degree cuts on all the next section boards and install them so that they all can be cut to the exact length where the trim is going to fit between those cuts. Heck of a lot easier than trying to fit every stupid board to the trim. JUST LEAVE THE TRIM OFF and make two cuts and THEN put in the trim. Just make sure all your deck board cuts leave the piece long enough to cut some off each end. That makes it way faster and easier my friends. Thanks for the video !
You and your dad make a great team, it was hilarious when you guys got ice cream, and I thought he was knock it out of your hands, and instead, he got wood in it 🤣
For the templates with the nails. Flip the boards upside down( belly up so to speak ) and trace with the nails up. Allows you to trace , and when the board is flipped right side up ( think belly down ) it will have the same pattern. Sometimes it’s the simplest tricks to make life easier
News Flash Narrator Voice: "Icecream, the best treat for a long day of working, and we accidently discover it not only works as a temporary wood glue but provides extra flavoring to the icecream! ah don't you just love the taste of chocolate with a hint of freshly sawed lumber! MmmmmMmmmm good!" 🤣 This Patio! 😍 I love that the original design for the flooring of the patio was not altered with a modern look, just restored with the same design as it was 40 years ago. When it comes to 100 year old places or structures close to a hundred years old, this is what I wish would be done instead of history being torn out and replaced with modern ugly design structures. I wish instead the original design was just maintained and restored with updated longer lasting lumber or other material that it needs, and make it look exactly like the original piece so that history is preserved yet going to last longer with the new material.
Oh yeah that woody taste was interesting 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks we definitely wanted to keep the pattern even though it made everything SO MUCH HARDER! But it’s worth it
Your deck layout is pretty snazzy! We just finished redoing our ancient deck (12 x 20). We talked about doing a diagonal pattern, but went with the traditional vertical layout to make it fast and easy (2 very long days of work). Reinforced some janky areas on the foundation and repainted all the railings. The water is still beading up on the deck, so we're waiting to seal it.
At 27:00 just use a nail gun. By the time they lift up, that deck will need replacement again. And nails are waaaaay cheaper ! Plus you can drive one a second doing decks and that is a lot of time saved if you think about how many screws you don't have to screw in. Screws are easily filled with dirt if they are not protected and so become difficult to remove if that is supposed to be a benefit. Another benefit to nails (get galvinized gun nails and a battery operated gun [3 1/2" nails or 3 1/4"]. Will pay for itself on your first job) is, they are much easier to cut if you ever have to remove the old decking. Oh and a $30 harbor freight grinder will beat the heck out of using a sawzall to cut the nails by the way. Plus a 10 pack of 5" thin metal cutting blades is only $16 so 1.60 a blade. And one grinder blade will outlast one of those $3 sawzall blades. Anyway, just stuff I do. Not the best in all cases of course. Thanks so much for the video friends !
At 4:27 I see you are working on that board. First draw a picture of what you are going to cut. Then put down the measurements of each side or notch or all dimensions in both directions. If you need to, snap a line on the framing somewhere so you know where to measure from since there is no board there to measure up against. Or put a string up on the inside of those posts. That will give you one side of your finished board or some equal distance you can subtract from each of your width dimensions because that board may need to end up in the middle of the posts where you cannot string a line if you know what I mean. That's one way to do it.
When your dad almost knocked your ice cream out of your hands, and wood got in it, it reminded me of that scene from Dennis The Menace when Mr. Wilson was eating his chicken, and it tasted like paint, and wood 😂😂😂
Good, Fast, Cheap = Pick 2. If it is Good and Cheap = it Won't be Fast @15:55. Tiff is Good and Inexpensive, but her words I'm not Fast. LOL. All in good fun Tiff. I have a handyman here and he is Good and Cheap, but he is NOT Fast.
i would have cut all the inner boards on the same angel.45deg so every board that joined each other was the same angle and then allowed the edges to overhang a fraction. then cut the fiddley bit(around the posts) last on top of the new boards, then mark a straight edge where the side pieces meet then cut that with a circular saw or oscillating saw then all the outer 45deg cuts will be perfectly straight. but you done good
Did this same project this year. Don’t pull all those nails. Use a battery operated grinder with a cut off wheel. Cuts them off so fast and less effort.
That is so sweet thank you! But I got a good one back home and my dad gave in and got one while we were still working on the deck so that I would stop complaining about it 🤣
i sew and i build renovate houses and i hate to measure and make things permanent until its final. so i do that same thing. i use paper to do my measurements.😆😆😅😅🤣🤣😂
there was nothing wrong with that deck as it was. maybe 3 planks replaced TOPS. Rest was very solid. A sand and stain and seal was all you had to do. Huge waste of time and effort and money.

What a project!!! Great work by your team!!!
You and your dad make a great team, it was hilarious when you guys got ice cream, and I thought he was knock it out of your hands, and instead, he got wood in it 🤣
Omg I would’ve been so mad if he knocked it out 😂😂😂
I haven't laughed so hard watching a DIY video in a long time!! You guys are great!! That's a crazy huge project to undertake, too!

Thanks! Vertical is definitely simpler. My dad is just waiting for that wood to dry so he can seal it later too 😊
I love your dad!
10:35 he can't see her face but still knew what it looked like! great relationship!
😂
Her dad is having all the fun😂😂😂😂

Great team work. ❤ not easy pattern to work with.
Doing great Tiff! 😊
That's going to be a nice deck, nice design and pretty good sized. You haven't mentioned whose deck it is; assuming it's your dad's?
Yippee Yappee Yahooee You Rock Girl!!!😊🎉❤
Bravo, I was hoping you were going to use a template!!!😊🎉❤
Great job!
Thank you ☺️

That why hard cuts like that mean you always pull the board off and save it as a template since its already cut to fit that spot.
Glad to see you being sponsored! ❤
Thanks 😁
You go with your badself 🤘🤘
When your dad almost knocked your ice cream out of your hands, and wood got in it, it reminded me of that scene from Dennis The Menace when Mr. Wilson was eating his chicken, and it tasted like paint, and wood 😂😂😂
Drats, should have use flashing tape on the top of the joists.
Love you guys. next time hopefully dad wearing a dust mask yaa

Why do westerns love wood so much? Houses, garages, decks. What is wrong with concrete. Super durable super strong and looks good

Dad sounds like George Kistanzas dad on Sinefeild
I learned a new word! 😂
Is this the Bronx or Queens? You did a great job! Your Pop is cool!
Staten Island
Put the tape measure you want on an Amazon list and we'll take care of it!
Actually put two on there so your dad doesn't feel left out 😆
That is so sweet thank you! But I got a good one back home and my dad gave in and got one while we were still working on the deck so that I would stop complaining about it 🤣
@@diytiff Mission accomplished then 😆
That’s the same tool I use to break down pallets.
That deck is ridiculously huge. How about a garden or grass?
Does anyone know what the trees are at 1:16?
My first question would why do you need a deck that large? Better to scale it down and replace and use the money elsewhere
It is all about family
Where are you guys originally from?
Wouldn’t a composite decking be better & last a lifetime?.
Luckily that nail didn't stab your dad @5:30-ish!
Yeah that was close 😅
All those nails and add a crew not useing a magnetic to pick them up. Can some say Technitis in the future.
La Hija de tu Padre ❤

Whose deck is this?
dang imagine using what looks to be a metal blade in the jig saw and saying its slow
Ok I’m new to this channel who’s Toni and why is the deck so rotted?
11:10 is that your mom ? We need to find something for her to do !!!!
there was nothing wrong with that deck as it was. maybe 3 planks replaced TOPS. Rest was very solid. A sand and stain and seal was all you had to do. Huge waste of time and effort and money.
Why is there so much trash and why wasn’t it picked up and thrown out
Your actually using more wood doing hair and bone pattern which is more money
like you baby perfect haha, that was cute
Hey I'm offended y'all put us in the hole then y'all both look in and then say ewww 😂😂😂
😂😂😂 sorry…
@@diytiff 😂😂😂
That knot is going to rot overtime
Don't over think it
🤗👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👍🏿👍🏿🤗🤗🤗
Definitely need eye protection
I just don’t like how big the deck is.
Nobody needs 1,000 sq ft of wood deck. Silly
Your dad sounds just like mine.
❤😂🤭🥴😵🫥 that’s what good friends and family do 🎉
