it's because it is scripted and written by the writers of the show. Cmon you didn't really think that a comedy late night show determined to make their viewers laugh would play this game fairly did you?
I've watched a few of the episodes now. Two of which had actors and seemed genuine. John Cena is not an actor, so it's natural for him to make acting mistakes. Like the fact that he comes up with funny answers almost cartoonishly quick. If you watch the video again, you can see he already had a noun, adjective or verb already in mind and ready, even before Fallon said which one he needed. You're watching a late night show and actually think a game they're playing isn't scripted. I find that funny.
