    Sir Dr Skinner knows what a real magician needs. A book that stays open.

    This may or may not be helpful: I made a spreadsheet with all the correspondences from the various sources I use (books, pamphelets, notes) that I can search alphabetically on my computer. It has the page listing in Skinner and the various other texts that I use (Under the Witching Tree, The Black Toad, etc). I highly recommend the practitioner make their own personal, easily searchable correspondence charts with the book name and page number they are found on. It makes working more efficient

      so you seem pretty knowledgeable, can i ask you something....Is all magick essentially planetary magick? Even tho you might be calling a certain diety or casting a spell of some kind, isn't it still summoning a certain planetary energy??

    • @kirstenwelcome4520
      @kirstenwelcome4520 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SteveMe21685 no. Because there is elemental forces, zodiacal forces, the fixed stars, etc too. Not to mention, a lot of the “old gods” of the ancients do not so easily fit in one category. For instance, Hekate is usually depicted as ruling over the dark side of the moon, but, also if you know your Greek myths, it says Zeus gave Hekate a portion of all three worlds (earth, heaven, underworld) and many ancient hymns correspond her to Isis whom is usually associated with Saturn. So, books such as this and 777 tend to over simplify some much more complex deities, but understandably, it makes a magicians’ life much easier. If you are unsure about a deities office, reach out to them, and when you “get in touch” with them ask them yourself what exactly do they rule over.

    Your book reviews are so
    comprehensive, thorough, and helpful. Everything I want to know you always mention. I then purchase the book knowing what the trickier parts of using the book will be so I can plan ahead for my own indexing system (stickies) instead of feeling frustrated and annoyed when first experiencing the book.

    This book is useless... it's not comprehensive... it's like a history book that is describing what happened and takes out random stuff from many other books... I have no clue how is this of any use... the introduction has like 5 pages and tells you that magic is about "correspondences"... and next page are these tables :D ... like... list of archangel names? yeah, okay, I can find that on Google... but how do I use that? ... 1 star

    I have all the same "complaints" about this book's organizational structure, but after a little over a year with this book it has become profoundly endearing. It gives it a very interpersonal feel when tackling harder queries, more like gaining knowledge through a winding conversation than through searching indexed information. Certainly not for everyone, but I honestly don't think I would get as much out of this book if I didn't have to coax the information out of it from time to time, and it has more than once given me insight into a work from what would have otherwise been a bit of a blind spot. Don't let this quirk put you off it, though, if this isn't your style. The information alone still makes it worth it.
