    Join the DR BOB SQUAD by going to / drbob and become an Honorary Member of the Dr. Bob Research Staff!
    SCP-1575 is a marble statue, standing approx. 2.75m high with an additional base of 0.5m. The statue is a depiction of Venus (Roman goddess of love, beauty, fertility and seduction) clad only in wrappings from the waist downwards.
    SCP 1575 shows no anomalous properties on its own.
    Any otherwise fresh water which is allowed to pour through SCP1575 in its nature as a fountain (henceforth referred to as SCP-1575-1) is shown to have mutagenic properties when consumed or otherwise introduced into a body;
    Non-human mammalian creatures who consume at least 0.5 liters of SCP-1575-1 daily will begin mutating into a human being over the course of roughly one month, with ethnicity roughly in accordance with humans native to the species' natural habitats. For example, a European deer will have primarily Caucasian features post-mutation, while a North American deer will have features like those of Native Americans. Curiously, most modern breeds of dogs and cats will have indistinct or mixed racial features.
    Survivors of this process describe it as extremely painful, and it has an approximate 25% fatality rate for females. Males experience a 95% fatality rate, with most survivors having an androgynous appearance with non-functional or completely missing genitalia. Additionally, there is a 40% chance that the animal will retain one or more pre-mutation features, such as fur, paws instead of hands and/or feet, a tail, non-human ears, etc. The final apparent age of the subject is normally in accordance to the stage of life of the creature involved (prepubescent, adolescent, adult, elderly).

    Now here's a strange thought. If the Zoo Zipper turns people into animals. Would drinking the water from the statue turn them back into humans? Or maybe the Zoo Zipper might turn the mutanted animals back into their normal selves?

    • @doommagic

      ...Actually, that's a really good question. Considering the two SCPs do the opposite of each other, I'd imagine someone must've thought about this before. Whether or not anything has been written about the experimentation of this idea though, I'm not sure.

      I imagine it might, but bare in mind the fountain's transformation process isn't as "perfected" as the zipper's, so there's a chance the subject may not survive the process, and if they do it will likely be very unpleasant, both physically and mentally

    I was kind of hoping that SCP-1575-8, aka 'Tabby', survived and remains at Bio Site-23 as a friendly and demanding permanent resident, a valued member of the site's security detachment due to her far-beyond excellent night vision. The fact that her vocabulary remains limited to: "Feed me, hooman," and "Scritches pleez" is considered a wholly-plausible personal eccentricity.

    An excellent new analysis from Doctor Bob! The intro story was very good, though almost nothing can compare to the story from The Living Room. Keep it up! I'm so glad you were able to get a sponsor. If you are able to, please add a progress bar in the sponsorship section. It's a great quality of life improvement from a viewer's perspective.

    Love Dr. Bob. just had 1 nitpick thing on this story lol at 3:35. 911 operators wouldn't laugh, especially if they thought it was a prank. Unlawful use of emergency services is VERY illegal. No matter what you say, they will respond accordingly. Could be drugs or a psychotic breakdown etc. Also birds and geckos are also vertebrates, hence why they have spines. Unlike crustations and mollusks. I know you're not the writer lol but dang that hurt lol
    Edit: All I wanted to say besides. Love your content and style Bob, no hate.

    With them already being so close to humans in biology, I'm surprised we didn't see a test subject of ape decent. Chimpanzees, Gorillas, and Monkeys are so close to our basic build already I imagine the mutation would be less painful than for bears, cats, and zebras; and also have a lower mortality rate. Great work on the animation Dr. Bob, these cases are always so intriguing. 👍

    One of the few SCP's that actually disturb me. Not that they're not all a bit disturbing to some extent, some more than others (let's be honest, SCP-5094 - Miss J's Whiz Kidz Schoolhouse for example is relatively sweet/lighthearted SCP compared to most others, at least fro what I understand of it), but I'm in the same boat of being relatively desensitized to this kind of stuff (not trying to flex, I actually feel a need to step away for a bit when I feel like I'm being to desensitized to horror). I think a lot of what gets to me is the section with the dog who had parasites - I'd be panicking over my own dog having any form of parasites, let alone this kind of body horror. Things like this remind me why body horror is one of my favorite kinds of horror - can it be exaggerated? Yes, absolutely, this being a prime example. But also body horror is just having a body that experiences change.

      Don't worry, the dramatic metamorphosis will most likely destroy the bodily systems of any animal that drinks the water.
      If they don't die from so many shifting, breaking bones, the shock will kill them, sure enough.

    My theory is that this SCP is the actual Goddess Venus that got transformed into stone by Medusa and it is in this form, it was buried. Until someone found the statue and took it to the barn to hide it. However left it there itself after the person found out its true nature i.e. its reaction on animals.
    This is a theory considering Venus is a goddess of beauty too. So thru her perspective she transforms or beautifies creatures into humans.

  • @imugi-16

    I found it interesting that the female bear was drinking only the statue water and nothing else.
    In Korean mythology, A god once tested a female tiger and female bear by only letting them eat garlic and herbs while living inside a cave for 100 days. The tiger gave up halfway through, and the bear persevered and became a human woman. The god then married the bear-woman, and had a child which then became the first king of ancient Korea.
    I'm not sure if that was purely coincidental, but it matches surprisingly well to one another.

  • @Noahloveless1
    @Noahloveless1 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    What's crazy is the dog had parasites emerge but not the bear. ALL bears have a special species of parasites that live in ALL their fur. Much the same for Pigs.
