This looks like the Bosch 18v orbital sander. Any chance Ridgid has an arrangement with Bosch similar to their arrangement with Delta for the Cruzer design?
It's identical to the M18 Fuel, which isn't surprising as TTI owns them both, but as I stated on another comment, the Rigid is a bit weaker than the new Milwakee.
I’m curious-does the battery cause it to tip back and put uneven pressure on the sanding pad toward the back? I have the old one and it is a vibration nightmare, but this looks like it might be a little uneasy with a large battery in that spot.
Yes. It’s the same for Bosch’s 18v and Milwaukee’s new 18v. Check out Bosch’s 12v. It doesn’t run as long, but it’s perfectly balanced because of the smaller/lighter batteries, and doesn’t tip backwards.
do you think it's worth the upgrade from previous model? Does having a low profile really make a difference or brands are just looking to make small changes to sell more products?
$140 out of Stock might get one then i Could run my 3 AMP OCTAN Battery small enough to run for a time and LOOKING forward to the new 4 AMP EXP 21700 CELLS that are TABLESS CELLS and should BEAT the 3 amp OCTANE battery
Ridgid continuing to make tools that dont fit all their batteries. Big mistake for a battery platform in todays market. Ryobi put the battery sideways, problem solved
Just bought this, fantastic tool. I made two red oak cutting boards as christmas gifts with it and it worked flawlessly
Just got mine. Did some basic testing for about an hour. Really like it.

first to say...great video!
I have both the new m18 and this Rigid. The Rigid is significantly weaker, although they are both made by TTI.
looks amazing i wanna get one or two 😳
Ridgid has Welders 😳

Ryobi is coming out with a new one as well.
😩 they need to make a buffer already

The previous one was terrible so this one has to be an upgrade!
Low profile will be more like a traditional DA and would be way easier to use, so you could use it one handed.
@@speedbump4 you are so right my friend. Mine shat itself in less than half an hour of use. It's gone back for repairs now.
Hopefully better than their full sized brushed random orbit sander.
The 4 thin washer trick gets that sucker orbiting like the moon.
@@user-sn8wp2ux1y mine seemed to be too orbity

It got stolen by milwaukee I think
And they're out of stock already :(
That irritates me when things run out of stock and I really want it, that pisses me off to, I feel you on that.
1/10th of an inch 😂

why doesnt it fit all their batteries?
Agreed, it is an odd choice, however I'm not sure I want to be moving that sucker around with anything larger than a 4Ah battery...
