Die Hard 3 is probably the best Die Hard out of the series. Ranked I think best to lest is; 3, 1, 4, 2, 5. Just my opinion of course. But 3, Stars Bruce Willis, Samuel Jackson, and Jeremy Irons. A wonderful mix of comedy and action.

Fred Dalton Thompson played an Admiral in Hunt For Red October, has been a U.S. Senator, and once ran for President. I knew John Amos as a good father on Good Times.

Director Renny Harlin's _The Long Kiss Goodnight_ 💋 with Geena Davis & Samuel L Jackson, from _Kiss Kiss Bang Bang_ screenwriter Shane Black, is an amazing '90s Action classic worth checking out. Davis plays one of cinema's most badass [albeit, little known] Action heroes. And the great _Die Hard With A Vengeance_ is a first viewing to look forward to.
Die Hard "3" With a Vengeance is very good. Check that one out for sure. 4 and 5 are ok. worth a watch at some point, but they don't have to be a priority.

Nobody considers 3 better than 1 lol....Maybe their favorite sequel. Just because it's probably the most fun since they essentially made it a buddy cop movie. But 2, 3, and 4 are all pretty comparable.

The main badguy terrorist is played by William Sadler. He's also known in my generation as the sheriff on the older Roswell tv show and he also played the Grim Reaper in Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, the sequel to Bil ANd Ted's Excellent Adventure (with Keanu Reeaves). More recently, he played President Ellis in Iron Man 3 and the Marvel's Agents of SHIELD tv show.

Fun Fact: Director Renny Harlin is from Finland and puts always something Finnish in his movies. In this movie at the end when the plane explodes, starts Finnish composer Sibelius' "Finlandia Hymn" to play.
I saw this at a sneak preview before the official opening day. The entire theater was filled with fans of the first movie. As the movie went on, everyone was into it. At the climax, he lights the fire, and says the phrase: "Yippee ki yay..." and the ENTIRE theater yelled "MOTHERF**KER". I'm sure every other theater in the cinema, as well as everyone in the lobby, could clearly hear us.
You know, this I can agree with when it comes to movie villains. The Die Hard movies throw them out there very well. But, man, it's hard for me to say Jeremy Irons is better than Alan Rickman.
I'm not a big fan of 2, didn't really think much of the villians in it. I didn't care much for the villain of 3 either until I heard former Batman writer Chuck Dixon call it a perfect movie for the Riddler.

7:10 it's easy to forget how prevalent smoking used to be, I can remember starting a job in the early 2000s and the office had two break rooms, smoking and non-smoking. Only went in the smoking one once: the walls and windows were yellow from the layers of smoke, very grim.
I loved die hard 3 up until the ending. That bit in Canada felt unrealistic, anticlimactic and tacked on. But fantastic up until those last 7 minutes or so.
I remember when I first watched this and noticed the scene when Carmine was writing down Colonel Stuart's location.. Major Grant took the sheet of paper before he was done writing it down. Dead giveaway that he was working for the terrorists.
That and the terrorists and Major Grant and and his team were firing blanks at each other at one time Grant was just firing his gun into air. They switched their magazines to which was was real ammo to blanks identified by the colors they used with tape.
I love the first 4. 3 adds a fun element with Samuel Jackson and 4 let us see old-man McClane, which was hilarious. I know 4 was divisive, but everyone agrees that the last one is terrible.

To be fair, the edited-for-broadcast TV versions of this movie (or any movie) will also scale back the level of blood/gore/violence in a movie as there's limited to how much of that can be shown on V. So the scene of guy getting shot in the church isn't shown.

Last show l watched on AFN in Germany was Moonlighting waiting for the bus to Frankfort airport. First movie I saw in America was the 1st Die Hard. Bruce Willis has a special place in my heart.

Fun fact, back in the day, that wasn't the policy followed by pilots in hostage situations. Going physical with the hijacker was considered a big mistake if landing the plane to negotiate was an option (so yeah, even if he would kill them after landing, it was considered better to land safely the plane first because a plane out of control could crash and kill innocent people in the ground).
Die Hard 3 aka Die Hard with a Vengeance is much better than Die Hard 2. Not sure what people have been telling you but it's absolutely phenomenal. Absolute must watch. The rest of them after that you can skip for sure.
The one thing (almost) all Die Hard movies have in common is the use of classical or military music. Die Hard had Ode to Joy, Die Hard 3 had Johnny Comes Marching Home (an old march), Die Hard 4 had America The Beautiful... ...and Die Hard 2 had Jean Sibelius' "Finlandia", because Renny Harlin (the director) loves sneaking Finnish things into all his movies. Cuthroat Island has the Finnish flag, Long Kiss Goodnight has FInnish vodka, etcetera.

26:29 those planes which could divert already did…the ones circling were already in holding pattern due to weather or didn’t have enough fuel to divert to alternative airport That’s why the baddies did all that stuff with the radios etc, so that only they could tell the planes what to do. If pilots don’t get told otherwise, they cannot really take initiative themselves without getting into other trouble, and they aren’t aware of the details…
When the villain (William Sadler) showed up in the 2nd Bill and Ted movie as the Grim Reaper, it took a little of his 'menace' in this film away during subsequent watches.
Well mary, one of the best in the series is actually the 3rd one.. Aside from the first one being the best. The 3rd has nonstop action and the great interaction between bruce willis and samuel l. jackson.
Definitely watch Die Hard with A Vengeance. It’s as good as the first film, and the addition of Samuel L Jackson gives the movie such a great buddy comedy action film. Their banter and chemistry is one of the highlights of the series.
Modern times update the airport ILS (Instrument Landing System) is slowly going away. Modern airliners have every airport's specifics in their landing software. If you can play around with the new Microsoft Flight Simulator there is a trainer for landing a 777 which is basically select an airport and runway then engage the landing system. Almost everything is automatic based on internal data so it can land with zero visibility, no ILS, and no runway lights. Pilots just double check what the machine is doing. Pretty amazing.
The view of the aircraft's wheel approaching the metal grate the John climbs out form under is done in one take. I dunno how they pulled it off, if that was a stunt guy, then what a dude!
I know "Die Hard 3: With a Vengeance" is pretty good too and alot of people's favorite since it connects in alot of ways to the first and the setting has a different vibe. I'd definitely recommend that one too.
Its not a christmas movie, although it is mentioned that the movie takes towards the end of the year, and there are multiple lines of dialogue that actually include christmas references.
I live in the coastal area of California, it is like the East Coast of Australia, it doesn't snow in winter. You have to go to the mountains, such as Yosemite National Park, to see that 😃 Well, it did snow this winter in certain places on the coast, but that's very rare! 🙂 I meet a lot of people from Australia here in the San Francisco Bay Area, btw. 🙂
All of the first 3 Die Hard films are great, however, in my opinion the 3rd film is the best one. It has the highest stakes, the smartest villains, and Samuel L. Jackson is hilarious in it.

I love how the United States censors swearing. Yet it is okay to show a priest get murdered in a church or people blown up.
In the german version, he's yelling "Yippee-ki-yay, Schweinebacke" - so it's "Yippee-ki-yay, pork cheek".

@@Prairielander Right? They're the same with nudity, even when it's not sexualised - oh no, we can't show the naked human body, but the back of someone's head exploding all over the lens after they've been shot in the face is fine. It's rather peculiar.
To be fair, the edited-for-broadcast TV versions of this movie (or any movie) will also scale back the level of blood/gore/violence in a movie as there's limited to how much of that can be shown on V. So the scene of guy getting shot in the church isn't shown.

Glad you watching/reacting to the Die Hard trílogy. I wouldn't suggest watching past Die hard with a vengence. The later ones are not very good

You should definitely watch the third Die Hard; there is a very important plot line that connects it to the first one.
Last show l watched on AFN in Germany was Moonlighting waiting for the bus to Frankfort airport. First movie I saw in America was the 1st Die Hard. Bruce Willis has a special place in my heart.
Definitely watch Die Hard With a Vengeance! The director of the first film returns and I enjoyed it way more than Die Hard 2. The rest you can skip. lol

The plane goes up in a raging fire ball but just seconds before they said they were out of fuel and flying on fumes.
That co-pilot was smart he knew he was going to die regardless so he tried to kill the guy first
Fun fact, back in the day, that wasn't the policy followed by pilots in hostage situations. Going physical with the hijacker was considered a big mistake if landing the plane to negotiate was an option (so yeah, even if he would kill them after landing, it was considered better to land safely the plane first because a plane out of control could crash and kill innocent people in the ground).
You are having so much fun watching this. I have watched it 10+ times. Yet, Die Hard 3 is my favourite one. Next week, baby?

Die Hard 3 aka Die Hard with a Vengeance is much better than Die Hard 2. Not sure what people have been telling you but it's absolutely phenomenal. Absolute must watch. The rest of them after that you can skip for sure.
The one thing (almost) all Die Hard movies have in common is the use of classical or military music. Die Hard had Ode to Joy, Die Hard 3 had Johnny Comes Marching Home (an old march), Die Hard 4 had America The Beautiful...
...and Die Hard 2 had Jean Sibelius' "Finlandia", because Renny Harlin (the director) loves sneaking Finnish things into all his movies. Cuthroat Island has the Finnish flag, Long Kiss Goodnight has FInnish vodka, etcetera.

Another action Christmas movie, "The Long Kiss Goodnight" Geena Davis and Samuel L Jackson. Jackson plays a shady to average joe who steps up which I liked.

The others are warm weather. Samuel L Jackson Die Hard III. Back in New York. More marital problems with Holly. Die Hard IV and V are for their kids Lucy and John Jr. Good job sweetie! The bad guy, William Sadler, has done some completely different roles, the bad guy in this movie, "death" in Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey and Heywood in ShawshankRedemption. Impressive!

That’s why the baddies did all that stuff with the radios etc, so that only they could tell the planes what to do.
If pilots don’t get told otherwise, they cannot really take initiative themselves without getting into other trouble, and they aren’t aware of the details…
When the villain (William Sadler) showed up in the 2nd Bill and Ted movie as the Grim Reaper, it took a little of his 'menace' in this film away during subsequent watches.
Well mary, one of the best in the series is actually the 3rd one.. Aside from the first one being the best. The 3rd has nonstop action and the great interaction between bruce willis and samuel l. jackson.
Definitely watch Die Hard with A Vengeance. It’s as good as the first film, and the addition of Samuel L Jackson gives the movie such a great buddy comedy action film. Their banter and chemistry is one of the highlights of the series.

Modern times update the airport ILS (Instrument Landing System) is slowly going away. Modern airliners have every airport's specifics in their landing software. If you can play around with the new Microsoft Flight Simulator there is a trainer for landing a 777 which is basically select an airport and runway then engage the landing system. Almost everything is automatic based on internal data so it can land with zero visibility, no ILS, and no runway lights. Pilots just double check what the machine is doing. Pretty amazing.
The view of the aircraft's wheel approaching the metal grate the John climbs out form under is done in one take. I dunno how they pulled it off, if that was a stunt guy, then what a dude!
I know "Die Hard 3: With a Vengeance" is pretty good too and alot of people's favorite since it connects in alot of ways to the first and the setting has a different vibe. I'd definitely recommend that one too.
Die Hard 3 is really good, but it's not a christmas movie if i remember correctly, it's been a while.
Its not a christmas movie, although it is mentioned that the movie takes towards the end of the year, and there are multiple lines of dialogue that actually include christmas references.
I live in the coastal area of California, it is like the East Coast of Australia, it doesn't snow in winter. You have to go to the mountains, such as Yosemite National Park, to see that 😃 Well, it did snow this winter in certain places on the coast, but that's very rare! 🙂 I meet a lot of people from Australia here in the San Francisco Bay Area, btw. 🙂
FYI, it snowed once in the 30 yrs I lived in the LA area. It was a very local thing and not where I lived. The snow lasted an hour or so.

All of the first 3 Die Hard films are great, however, in my opinion the 3rd film is the best one. It has the highest stakes, the smartest villains, and Samuel L. Jackson is hilarious in it.
I'm glad everyone is yelling for #3. Pretty obvious we're going to get it.
