I am so freaking happy. I'm a 29 year old dude, so the type that typically goes for the "natural" look, but something about Captain and his ship just gives me the giggles. It's perfect. Sometimes it's fun to go back to the flashy/kitschy things that grabbed our attention when we were young and probably helped get us into the hobby in the first place.
And that is one sweet pleco! Perfect choice for the substrate. Hopefully the pleco can stay in there long term, but I have my doubts.

Well, I'm sad for no live bearers. However, Captain James Hook looks amazing on the black substrate, as does Mr. Smee. The name, and ship decoration, seem to be pretty appropriate. Most importantly though is the fact that you seem excited about the tank. As much as you said that you quit and it's up to us, you're the one who will be seeing it everyday and you're the one who will be caring for the tank, so ultimately it has to be you that is happy with it and excited. At the very least this fan is satisfied, even though I wanted something else.
Captain Hook look great! Contrast of colour is awesome, yellows and the dark substrate. Pleco is so cool as well!
Should get a compas for the tank and call the tank "Never-never Land" adventures of Captain Hook and Peter Pleco!
If the pleco and Captain Hook get along and you decide to keep them together long term, you’ll have to name the pleco “Smee.” A Captain needs his first mate.

I'm not particularly fond of oscars, but i have no issue with "the public"'s choice. They can be very interesting fish.
One thing I'd like to see you showcase is a brackish tank though. You say that the gallery is to showcase what _can_ be done, and brackish is something that often gets forgotten.
Archerfish and/or a few mudskippers and you will have your next favourite tank, trust me.

I know every one is suggesting Peter for the pleco, but Captain Hook’s first mate was Mr. Smee! Since they are tank mates I think naming the sunshine pleco Mr. Smee is an idea

You have pretty much only natural looking tanks in the gallery, so one themed tank isn't going to hurt. It's a hobby, it's supposed to be fun, and that tank is really funny, love it!
I have a themed tank in my classroom. I teach Special Education. What do you think gets more attention - the fish or the treasure test? Hint: not the fish. We have to realize tanks aren't always about us. I bet Joey's kids like the Oscar tank best too. I would name the pleco "Crock" keeping to the Peter Pan theme.

The one thing I really wanted to see was a black substrate to change it up and you did that, so I’m good with the rest. Actually, I love the fish, the name, the companion and the silly ship. Great choice!

Love the ship, the sand, and Captain Hook (as well as his name) is beyond adorable. OMG you should name the pleco Mr. Smee to keep up the theme!

Even though I didn't necessarily want you to get an oscar, the tank looks pretty good. You just need to call the pleco Mr. Smee, and get a bubble chest/treasure chest to at least round out the look and feel of the tank. Maybe add in a Peter Pan ^_-

I have to say that I usually prefer natural aquariums, but sometimes a themed tank is really fun. I love Oscars. They are definitely one of my favorites. I think Frank has some competition now! Also, that is a beautiful pleco. Love the whole fun concept!
I love him and his name fits him . And the boat is perfect also , to me it was the right thing to do. And now he even looks happy in this tank , so much better than at the store . You we're spot on getting Mr. Hook

Man, aquariums should be fun. Getting a hook-tailed Oscar, naming him Captain Hook, and giving him a pirate ship is super fun. And any aquarium gallery worth its salt needs a damn silly, themed aquarium. I think this is perfect.

My fish recently lost his right eye from a bully fish. His eye is healing up nicely. We now call him One-eyed Willy and I'll be redecorating the tank in a Goonies/pirate theme. So seeing this video gave me ideas as to what my tank would look like. I already have black substrate so I'm going to get a ship and some skull/treasure chest decorations!!

I am not an Oscar fan, but they are cool fish and super popular in the hobby; good choice. I like Cpt. Hook and I like the diversity that the ship represents. I also think a skull would be a good addition. OH, love the Pleco, even though I don't care for Plecos.

While an oscar wouldn't have been my choice, he's still adorable and I love seeing how excited you were to get him! I personally adore the fact that his tank is less realistic - you have to deviate sometimes!

I love how excited you get when you're in a pet store lol. Plus, I love the ship in there, its different from your other tanks and it looks really nice in there. You should get that other oscar and put him in your pond. He was so beautiful and big :) I have 3 oscars myself. They are such neat fish and that pleco was really cool looking.

I don’t know why you apologize so much. You don’t need to apoligize to anyone. It’s your aquarium and by apologizing you’re sending a wrong message, one that implies that we should behave in the hobby to please others instead of pleasing and enjoying ourselves.

Personally I love the whole pirate theme and I don't think having decorations like that should be deemed as 'childish' just because it isn't all natural. It shows creativity, just keep doing what you enjoy. 👍

As a kid I used to love those treasure chest air bubble ornaments in themed aquariums. I still want to see a Puffer fish in your collection one day Joey! Love the Pleco, The L102 or snowball pleco is my favourite though.

I was rooting for an axolotl, but I do like that Oscar, particularly after you named him Captain Hook and got him a ship. I love the name and decorations and who cares if they're not natural? It's great. You should name the pleco Mr. Smee.

I'm pretty sure it was close to a 50/50 split between Puffers and Oscars.
So you should do this Oscar tank because you obviously miss having Oscars.
However, I think you should do a Puffer tank too.
Of course it is your gallery, so you can do whatever you want.

Did you even read the comments from the last two videos? Seems you didn't because you would have noticed the 50/50 split with a couple other suggestions thrown in.
When he saw the Oscars and talked about having them in the last video, it was pretty obvious he was going to get at least one of them. If you use the context clues and notice how much he was pushing for Oscars, you would have been able to predict that Oscars were going to be the "winner".
I'm not mad that he chose to get Oscars. It's his gallery, so he should do what he wants. I just think it was a bit of a tall-tale saying it was the community's tank.
I do think that he may be hinting at getting the puffers though in his comment about ordering fish. I think one of the quarantine tanks will possibly become a Puffer tank, and the other will be the goldfish tank. I think he does care about the community, but he had already made up his mind on an Oscar when he saw them at his LFS. So he's compromising by getting puffers as well.
I think themed aquariums are fun I do natural tanks as well but it's fun to change it up a little
