Very professionally put together! It truly feels like a trip down memory lane.

After watching again, I thought I’d make a minor correction / addendum to the vid for historical purposes. N64.com was actually the precursor to IGN64.com, while N64HQ.com was a fan site known as the Unofficial Ultra 64 Headquarters, renamed to Unofficial Nintendo 64 Headquarters in 1996. The latter had bounced around from other domains, as my site would later on, which was common in the 1990s.
Nintendo would eventually grab N64.com and N64HQ.com, though I don’t know how much (if any) money the original domain owners would get from the buyout. You might be able to see what these sites looked like if you plug them into the web archive at archive.org by rolling the dates back to the mid-1990s. I also tried to preserve copies I happened to have cached at my own site, though many links are unfortunately broken now.

Thank you for the time you put into beautiful game, a lot of my memories of playing it from ‘99-‘05 were spent learning the tricks you designed.

Wow, now that is some early internet memories for me. That guy was a legend. We'd talk about him on the gamefaqs message boards.

5:59 I remember this page! His N64 page was so comprehensive. Where I discovered a lot of Ocarina of Time and Banjo-Kazooie glitches.

This video actually gets me a bit emotional. David Wonn is the reason I found about the Super Mario Kart Player's Page back in 2005, when I was searching for some Zelda glitches. That page has been a part of my life for the last 15 years, and many of my best friends have come from there. His contributions to the SMK community weren't that vast, but I'm very thankful nonetheless. A true legend.

I had found literally all these skips by myself. Mario Kart 64 is a solid game (in the sense that it doesn't crash or break), but the bugs are extremely easy to find. First, it's a racing game, so you have incentive to find shortcuts, and the races even have some built-in ones so you know there's stuff to discover. Also, since you spend your entire time on the races (whether you're doing simple races, tournaments or time trials), you'll eventually run into several skips naturally.
And then there is the "kids' habit" of trying to break and discover things. For example, with my brother we had realized we could get stuck in the dustbin in the ghosts race of that game. You put Bowser in front of the dustbin, you use a mushroom with a second character to run over him, and you jump with the right timing. The second character bounces over Bowser and gets in the dustbin... stuck there forever, lol. It's a pointless glitch, but it's the kind of thing we discover very easily, by just trying stuff instinctively. In this example it was like : "Hey, do you think we can get inside this dustbin? - Oh yeah, let's try it!"
Also, the way some races are built really encourages you to try barely-possible jumps. The Rainbow Road is a perfect example, as it has a very famous skip. The way the race is built (you start from high and have to go down), of course you'd want to jump off the race to reach the bottom faster. The skip on Yoshi's map, I discovered it by accident while I was trying to reach the egg from the beginning of the race. Because the layout of the map really looks like the jump is possible.
Man, I love this game x).

Why does this culture celebrate laziness, I mean could this guy actually race a complete track and win or is the only way he can win using glitches? I'm sorry but completely and utterly breaking the game playing against the spirit of the game against the design and celebrating somebody who can't potentially play this game any other way, and why don't you put him on a real track on this game on a real race where the errors are fixed and let's see what he does, I'd like to see how this guy holds up to a no glitch run, how his lap times hold up that, you show me something like that and it might be an interesting video to me this is extremely offensive as a gamer to me people like you that celebrate this kind of behavior in a game are what's behind people wanting to cheat to be successful in streaming there's no real difference so play the game the way it was meant to be played and set real lap times and then brag as far as I'm concerned the glitching community as a whole needs to be disavowed by The gaming community it really is no better than cheating and hacking
