- The final stop on my game hunting spree with MetalJesusRocks brought us to Game Gurus, a small little game store with tons of modern, retro, and rare games to choose from. Be sure to watch the end to see what I ended up getting from this store!

Thanks again Pete for the shout out! You're a very cool guy...and yes, my wallet hates you :) Actually I was remarkably restrained as we cruised around. However, you were not afraid to dig into the boxed collectable games when it was a good deal, so I was a bit jealous of all the cool stuff you got! Let's plan on doing another Game Hunting day next year at PAX 2012! Rock on, buddy!

@Gamester81 - This store is in the Lake City area, but the owner just opened a second store on Aurora Ave near Greenlake. Both are in the north Seattle area.
Its nothing like spending a day game hunting with a friend. Then coming home & checking out a game that you never heard of but your excited to play & see what its all about! Finding fun games in the wild is awesome "good times" Great video pete!!!
@jerryjoe88 - I took the Game Chasers to Al's Music in the U-District. Any others you would recommend? I'm always looking for new places for games!

Sadly, this place recently closed. The other Game Gurus on Aurora Ave. is still open though.

When it says complete does he mean that it is boxed with the manual? Also, when the box for the game is cardboard (an N64 game for example), will it still be complete without the inner tray?

We have a local mom and pop store like this. I do greatly enjoy going there. It's not sterile like a "corporate" game store, it has a nice down home 80s feeling. The owner plays 80s rock and just loves to talk about retro topics from gaming to tv to music. I could live there.

You and other serious game collectors inspire me. Just the other day I had the urge to fill one of my shelves up so I spent over $100 on video games that were no more then $5.
Deception 3 is the best game you picked up in that collection, you're gonna have a blast with that game :-)
Dark Delusion is amazing,you set the traps not try to escape them....you have people attacking you and you have to setup traps to stop them in a castle.
I agree with you, it is a lot more fun to go digging through a bin than to just see things on the shelf. That is one of the reasons I love to go to flea markets and pick through the boxes there.
On another note, why are all the independant stores painted so dark?

Deception III Dark Delusion is an awesome game! One of my favorite on the PS1. You basically just set traps to kill your enemies. You can create your own traps by combining different elements (fire, ice, impact, poison, etc...). Definitely a blast to play!

Deception III is an awesome game, with lots of possibilities to create traps. They changed the name of the saga for the PS2, with that game called Trapt, which is the fourth installment on the Deception series.

Its hard to imagine there are games you still dont have;))))) God bless America.It is a gamers paradise.Here in Europe finding a shop with such a huge variety of retro titles is virtualy impossible.We are so behind:)
MetalJesusRocks is a really cool guy. I just found out about him thru all the PAX videos...BUT...These videos kill me LOL. I just saw another video from MasonSushi where he went to a sick game store and it was just FULL of games. We have nothing like this around here...And I agree, i LOVE digging thru stuff to try and find what I want instead of having to ask for stuff behind a counter or gladd case...Great video Pete!

i totally remember going there all the time to get my games, but then they had to shut it down.
The Deception Series has 4 installments, but they're named a little oddly, so you may be a little confused if you weren't familiar already. In order, there's:
Tecmo's Deception (PS1)
Kagero: Deception II (PS1)
Deception III (PS1)
Trapt (PS2)
The original is played in first person perspective, the others in third person. The series plays differently from almost anything out there, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. Graphically, the originals are pretty dated, but there's still fun to be had.

If you pass through the Michigan area, try out Disc Replay over at Flint; they got a section for retro games and are VERY reasonable.

sorry to annoy you again but when you say box do you also mean the tray (the white thing that holds the game which is only on games that come in cardboard boxes so n64 games for example). I ask you this because some people (especialy on ebay where I get most of my retro games from) say it does and others say that it doesn't matter.
I've never played Deception 3, but I did at one point own Tecmo's Deception, which was the first game in the series. It was a really cool game where you are the master of a mansion and you have to build traps to either kill intruders or harvest their souls so you can resurrect Lucifer and get revenge on your brother for framing you for murder.
we have a few decent game stores in the uk btw, one in spalding called the gamelink and one in weston super mare called mt games just to name 2

Damn, I wish I lived near a game shop like that! All we have is GAME...we used to have a shop that sold older games such as xbox, Sega Master System, etc, but closed down after a few months since everyone just plays the newest games in my area like FIFA, and COD.

not really sure but there is a really cool import arcade in euston/london called the lesiure casino, you should check it out!
sega cd and saturn had the nicest cases and graphics on them
I really wish these sort of stores existed in my area of the UK. The PS1/PS2 market in Game/Gamestation/GameStop is non-existent. I saw so many games during the v-roll of your time in Gurus that I wish i could find locally. (Grandia being the main one, been looking for that forever).
