I got cancer and was trying to sell my gear a trikebuggy deluxe with a mz34 engine, and a xlarge paratoys wing, extra prop kiting harness 2 cycle oil and a bunch of other stuff with it,flight worthy good condition for 1500.00 for everything, would even fly it to show it was good.
Just had people trying to scam and lowball me,its worth much more than 1500.00 I was asking.Im so glad it didnt sell, cause Im feeling much better.so gonna start flying again, and after losing 70 lbs Ill get so much better performance.Had the wing tested all is good,I start my engine often to keep it in shape.
Ive flown ppg over 10 years now, but from a airfield.Where I live now is just dirt roads
never taken off from a road, but being on wheels will make it easier.

Paramotors aren’t technically that expensive to build. However it’s just such a niche market that the engine manufacturers charge high prices because there isn’t much demand so to speak.

I have a bit of a hard time with the extreme flying and jumping stuff. One of my classmates nosedived his plane into the ground in Grade 12 and has had brain damage ever since. Another very close friend died at the age of 22. He was a flight instructor and was fogged in between the mountain ranges. He tried for the airport in the valley and ended up in the lake in January. They never found his body. I had been ice skating with him two days before. So while my spirit still soars with you as you do your great flying and I sit in the hospital with my wife of in the chemo unit, I do get the jitters.... I would love to paramotor...

You can learn to paramotor at 14 unless your country has laws prohibiting that! (You will likely need new gear in a few years as your weight changes though) Find any paramotor pilot in your area, and ask them where you can find an instructor, preferably one certified by some association. th-cam.com/video/9-Ny_6hMJXo/w-d-xo.html is one example.. also, search for paragliding clubs in major cities near you and ask them.

It all depends on you "handiness". If you are not mechanically minded, if you are not one of those people who buy something and then likes pulling it completely apart to get a sense of it. If you are not a person who enjoys fixing things... Then don't go buying second hand and budget engines.... and that goes for just about anything mechanical and secondhand, from lawnmowers to cars to aviation motors.... For most people, save your pennies and buy new stuff..... otherwise you'll just be in the garage swearing at things you should be enjoying.

OMG! @ 7:36 I could not believe seeing the cheapest electrical crimper being used. When it comes it comes to electrical connections, bare wire crimps are hardly the way to go. I always tin the wires with solder, then crimp using proper connector, then fill connector with solder to inhibit future corrosion/oxidization, then slide the preplanned heat shrink over connection (or apply multiple coats of liquid tape) and you got a connection that you can trust your life with. A quality crimper is often hard to find and the best unit available can be found at harbor freight for $59.99. It is a hydraulic, one handed unit that delivers 10 tons of crimping power. You cannot beat it... makes crimping fun!

During my first year of sobriety, I dreamt of being able to jump long distances, just as I was falling asleep. At first, it was like being tethered on bungie cords and I started with 100 feet, then a block or two, and by the end of my first year, I was flying unassisted. I realized later that this might have had something to do with the use of Jumpers when I was a kid. The fact that we learned to walk in them, might also suggest we can learn to fly by them as well. Good luck to you! Your an inspiration to me! I appreciate the fact that you keep it simple. There's so much nonsense out there. I'm really glad to see someone else who's been able to get so much out of a simple plan that works. It's not fancy, but it's really brave flying, and you're really cool!

If you have an awesome friend like Shane to help train you and a pro pilot to crash test, you can pull this off. Best advice given was to find a good trainer who has used gear because it's likely they know what to look for and how to help you before, during, and after your training. Eliminating sketchiness can go a long way toward enjoying the sport.

Think the hardest part of paramotoring is the ground. I had the same problem with motorcycles. The older you get the longer it takes to heal. Buzzing close to the ground, just like on a bike is the occasional bug in the eye or mouth. Of course you can have them spray in through an air vent on a low and slow chopper too. It's the wires that can kill you though. In a can or on a string the ground is still hard. Wish I was about 40 years younger.

    • @itukuppoo4280

Why would it catch fire (busted fuel line maybe) if you preflight it properly?

  • @TheeFlyingK
    @TheeFlyingK 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I'd make a pre-flight checklist as well as a used motor checklist vs. the down and dirty "off the top of my head" version. Haha.
Also, definitely solder joint connectors only. Crimps on a 2-stroke engine flying in the air is asking for trouble. Vibrations and height don't mix well with crimp style connectors.

Kelly Davis it’s hard to trust anyone when there are interests that will affect what they tell you. Either personal products or sponsorships. I think some get a bad reputation but actually know what they’re talking about. But I can’t do the whole “you’re gonna die!” Crap. Doesn’t make me want to buy what they want me to buy.

Kelly Davis the secret is all of them can kill you, its which one do you think will be less likely to kill you. The secret is buy a reliable motor brand (Air conception, vittorozi, miniplane) and a frame that has decent stability, with netting that will prevent things from flying into your prop. This one for example everything is going into the prop when it flys back.

If you find a decent school, do they also rent motors for you to use once you learn? I know a rental paramotor sounds sketchy af, but I would trust a school. If anything, they don't want to be sued and ruin their reputation and most likely they want you to be safe and spread word of mouth. You can always trust money and how much people want it.

Great start to this video series. Excellent info! Nice KTM your buddy had in the background there. Love those bikes. 👍
My plan is to buy a brand new wing and cart (not going to do foot launching), and a used engine. I've been working on small engines pretty much since I could pick up a wrench, & that's what I do for income today (along with motorcycles and cars). As long as the engine is well designed and historically reliable, I can make or keep it running forever.
