I have watched this video many, many, times... It never ceased to bring me joy and awe -- Stanley Clark facility and his plying like a child with Lenny White, another great player. Chick, obviously, commanding the party and Joe H. effing, abnormal, fantastic flaying!!!
dunno if anyone gives a shit but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times then you can watch all of the new movies on instaflixxer. Have been streaming with my girlfriend for the last months :)
This is the 'Griffith Park ' project -Echoes of an Era the concert- which also featured Nancy Wilson doing some great vocals. The first was a studio album on Electra with Freddie Hubbard and Chaka Khan on vocals. The next two were these live things on Electra/Musician, goo straight-ahead Jazz in the early 80s-Fc
Acoustic RTF rhythm section with the tenor titan, JH. What a treat this is! Fortunate to see JH before he passed. Seen Chick many times in many different settings (including RTF reunion). A true giant.
Great concert footage. Sound, camera work. The band is having fun and the crowd is way into it. And the performances are lit. Some of my favorite musicians, right there at the height of their powers. It doesn't get any better. Thanks for sharing it.
man, and my bros had this on VHS back in the 90s and we'd lay about on hot summer afternoons watching it. Man, it KILLED us every time! -Beautiful to see it again after more than 20 years!
U got DAT right!! This is just another reminder why Stanley Clarke is my favorite, and I believe the BEST bassist of all time. I got to meet and sit in with him at a show in Dallas and that's truly one of the hilites of my career. I've ALWAYS loved RTF. Chick is superb and not only is Lenny a skin MONSTER he's just freakin' cool too! This is a great video. I don't even miss Al, but then again this type of jazz really doesn't fit his style. {B>)
Master Clarke......nobody can match his skills...blues...funk....jazz...This guy is wowsome...no matter..I agree many bass players today are faster..maybe..but speed is s....t!! This guy is a MASTER MUSICIAN!! so to all all you that think that Flea...and company are really good ..well think again!! shit hit the fence!!
People might shit down my neck for this comment but I actually prefer Stanley's stand up bass playing more than his work on electric bass. He's so effortless on the stand up bass.

Reminds me of hey Arnold with a mix of cowboy bepop With a mix of 99 cent store jazz and elevator music It's so beautiful It makes sense but then it doesn't It's like it's about to hit but it doesn't Masterpieces that kept going electronically or piano Charlie Brown finally seeing his last days and he had that last good music before he died A women covered in rain, realizing she's been dumped Returns home and goes to her job Phones ringing the atmosphere in the work place driving her insane Leaves momentarily and finds the man who dumped her and he turns out to be CEO of a huge corporation They make up then sooner they marry Relationships problems go bad she leaves Running crying and it starts drizzling But in a blink of a eye she notices that she's back to the day She was the women covered in rain goes back home takes her sleeping pills and took a a lot she sleeps and never work up A rat and a cockroach once met up Ate cheese together Slept together By months past by and each day their friendship grew stronger But one day the rat comes back seemed like he was poisoned He grew weaker by the days The cockroach felt very bad and didn't know what to do One day the rat stood still and the roach threw him back in to sewer After all this the cockroach was sad and he saw the city skies and just flew away was never seen before A pipe was ready to burst, 2 feet away a child was riding his scooter The pipe couldn't hold on longer and burst with a lot of intensity And then the child got hit by the bursting water and flew about five feet into a street and a passing car hit him the man got out of his car only to find out that child he hit was his son he was looking for. A silent grandma who never spoke because she mute Always had an angry face on her She would always sit in a park bench And would be there day and night One day she dropped out of the bench And turns out she was sitting on sharp object It was defect on the bench that was a metal rod not meant to be there The man who installed the bench went to inspect it and he was getting there and saw the grandmother laying there He saw her face and saw that it was his grand mother He was crying and held her and she spoked saying "son, I'm not really you're grandmother I'm your mother, and your dad was a general officer who raped me, I was miserable in life traumatized and decided to sit on that defected bench and let it stabbed me and sit there and wait till I died, but then I realized how did I convince you to believe your grand mother? You are one stupid idiot, I'm 40 years old and your twenty how in earth can I be your grandmother? No wonder you built a bench so poorly made because your an idiot." After that she slowly closed her eyes and past on The son later asked himself "how in earth was she talking if she's a mute, did she get so aggravated at my stupidity that actually gave her power to speak?" He went back home running for with out a reason but while running he tripped on his untied shoe laces and tripped and hit his head so hard that it was an instant death. Turns out he never knew how to tie shoes. A man passed by one day and was chatting and were talking about the incident of that passed of an old lady dying and a man died tripping over his shoe laces And all he said was that they some stupid muthafuckas!

i've never seen more effortless bass playing in my life.
I really love this concert, everybody should see it at least once in a lifetime
Stanley Clarke...what a BEAST. I mean seriously, it looks like he's playing a cello!

Lenny White is a terrific drummer plus, he seems like such a lovable guy. This is a really cool group here. Deeeep Chemistry.
Great to hear Chick Corea playing in this style. Excellent 👌
Every time I see Stanley play, he always amazes me. Had an opportunity to see him life. Still can't believe how fluently he plays.

Now,THIS is the Stanley I wish I could hear more, don't get it twisted I Love all of his work,(until it became formula!!) Thx for this!
This is why Stanley Clarke is the greatest solo bassists either electric and upright. What a serious improviser!
These guys are having a BLAST playing together! Its fun to watch.
Joe Henderson, rocking the Mr. Rogers look, is a titan.

Reminds me of hey Arnold with a mix of cowboy bepop
With a mix of 99 cent store jazz and elevator music
It's so beautiful
It makes sense but then it doesn't
It's like it's about to hit but it doesn't
Masterpieces that kept going electronically or piano
Charlie Brown finally seeing his last days and he had that last good music before he died
A women covered in rain, realizing she's been dumped
Returns home and goes to her job
Phones ringing the atmosphere in the work place driving her insane
Leaves momentarily and finds the man who dumped her and he turns out to be CEO of a huge corporation
They make up then sooner they marry
Relationships problems go bad she leaves
Running crying and it starts drizzling
But in a blink of a eye she notices that she's back to the day
She was the women covered in rain goes back home takes her sleeping pills and took a a lot she sleeps and never work up
A rat and a cockroach once met up
Ate cheese together
Slept together
By months past by and each day their friendship grew stronger
But one day the rat comes back seemed like he was poisoned
He grew weaker by the days
The cockroach felt very bad and didn't know what to do
One day the rat stood still and the roach threw him back in to sewer
After all this the cockroach was sad and he saw the city skies and just flew away was never seen before
A pipe was ready to burst,
2 feet away a child was riding his scooter
The pipe couldn't hold on longer and burst with a lot of intensity
And then the child got hit by the bursting water and flew about five feet into a street and a passing car hit him the man got out of his car only to find out that child he hit was his son he was looking for.
