    Every era of Miles has something to offer, as far as I'm concerned. People get so upset when artists they admire don't stay frozen in time. It's a shame, really.

      I agree but I think its also totally acceptable to like a specific era of Miles and not like another one. You dont have to like EVERYTHING Miles did just because you really liked some of it. And that is totally fine, no one will get offended.

    • @EastCoastDave
      @EastCoastDave 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@moistpeanut5986 I agree with you as well. My issue is less that people may not like everything, and more that some people feel that only the stuff they like has any value, or is "good". Should've clarified.

    At the legendary Montreux Festival, a legendary Jazz artist like no other, Mr Miles Davis! His music is so sophisticated, spatial, colorful that infinite sounds are spread, syncopated, sometimes funky, pyschedelic; it's like Picasso painting the sky with improvised random colors!

I had the opportunity to see them together many times. Damn, I confess I haven't much liked the 80s albums I've dipped into from Miles, but this live performance kicks some serious ass. There's always this incredible feeling of space in his horn lines, and relatedly I kinda feel like his greatest talent might have been leaving space for collaborators and the musicians in his band to do creative, cutting edge work - something he was clearly doing right to the end of his life.

      true, but this is 8o% fusion/funk, less jazz imo...but actually, it doesn`t matter at all what we call it, doesn`t it?! it`s simply the music of mr.davis i`d say;-)

    I remember hearing Miles back in the day, i did not appreciate Jazz then like i should have because i was in my 20 's and was fully into R&B and having fun. Now i am totally into Jazz. MR.MILES DAVIS was a genius and is very much missed. One day hopefully God will bring back during the Ressurection and maybe we get to hear him once more. S.HghT.

    I am sure this is a concert for a novice like myself, but I enjoyed it more than anything I had previously heard by Miles. I realise it is time to work on that novice thing.Thank you,you have made a change in my life.

    Je fesais mon service militaire la première fois que j'ai acheté un de ces albums, je l'écoutais à fond dans la caserne pendant les quartiers libre, c'était en 1991, et il es partie cet même année, j'étais même pas au courant 😔.

    i saw them in honolulu hawaii, at the waikiki shell outdoors (primo) around this time, and wow, what a concert!!!!! double header with the stanley clarke band!!! both bands had 2 bass players each, and no guitarists. this bass player is a baaad ass, he's from hawaii, and miles let him rip endless solos, and he was on fiiiire... benny rietveld.... while the instrument that sounds like a guitar is a piccolo bass, by mr foley..... what a day, what a night...............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111111111

Genio!
