Being Indian I didnt even know Meghalaya is this much beautiful. INDIA is GREATTTTT.... IT IS SO FUNNY HOW IGNORANT AND BLIND MY INDIANS FELLOW CAN BE OR VIRTUAL TROLLING ID THE TALK OF THE TOWN. PLEASE BE MY GUEST IF MAJORITY OF YOU ARE TRYING TO VENT YOUR FRUSTRATION UPON ME ON MY GEOGRAPHY KNOWLEDGE. DID I EVER SAY THAT MEGHALAYA IS NOT PART OF INDIA??? LIKE MOST NORTH INDIANS I HAVENT EXPLORED NORTH EAST INDIA AND HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO. I HEARD ABOUT IT'S BEAUTY GOT TO SEE THE REAL BEAUTY OF THIS REGION THROUGH THIS CHANNEL ONLY AND SOME FOOLS ARE TRYING TO TEACH ME GEOGRAPHY. MY STATEMENT WAS JUST ABOUT PRAISING THE BEAUTY OF THE REGION I NEVER SAW , NOT THAT I DID NOT KNOW THAT MEGHALAYA IS PART OF INDIA , HUH. HOPE THIS GIVES SOME LOGIC AND SENSE TO ALL YOUR BRAINS.

Btw u entered Meghalaya soon after existing Guwahati but yes like u said whole of rural Assam is as beautiful as what u experienced in North Bengal. You passed some of it at night while cruising towards Guwahati after entering Assam ! On ur way back out of NE, do exit d highway & explore some of it, I specially recommend heading north & explore d pristine countryside of Bodoland in lower Assam. There's so much natural/cultural beauty in that rarely explored region, near d Bhutan border.

    Hi Pierre:
Beautiful drone shots of the lake. You will enjoy Shillong and the surrounding very much. the scenery is absolutely stunning and the weather very pleasant. I have been to Shillong quite a few times, the most recent trip was in May 2019. The 2 lane highway between Guwahati & Shillong is really good. This is a far cry from the road we encountered on my first trip to Shillong (by ASRTC bus) in 1986. That journey used to take almost 4 hours.

Bonjour mon frere, Pierre! Greetings of the day or night, should I say. XD
It's absolutely crazy, the adventure that you have undertaken to travel from all the way to this tiny remote corner of the world, from your comforts in France. I've been following you since your visit to the doctor at Amritsar (or was it Chandigarh, a lil too much of the good greens, dont remember haha).
Anyway, I never thought you would go and visit the North Eastern region in your trip. But what a pleasant surprise. And since, you have already come this way, I would like to request you to please come and visit my hometown of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. It's a 12-13 hr journey from Guwahati, but you can stop on your way there. It will remind you of your Leh days, but with a little NorthEastern flavour on the side, which you have already experience some with your visit in Sikkim.
I really hope you are able to make it happen, and I guarantee you, that you are not gonna regret one moment of it, unless ofcourse, you get stuck on your way there due to some snow troubles. But rest assured, the winter hasn't kicked in yet that much, and I'm sure Frenchie can take it and love the adventure.
And obviously, you can contact me if you need any details about the trip- homestay, routes, places, etc.- but also, you are always welcome to stay at my home as well (even if I wont be there), my folks will take good care of ya.
    Safe travels, my brother!
Hope you are able to see the most wonderful sights, and have the most enriching experiences there in the North-East
    much love!

Welcome to meghalaya Pierre, I lived there for 2 years. And it's beautiful. Greenery everywhere. Visit police Bazar, it has some great eating spots and the elephant falls, I don't know if it's the season for it though, i think they also have Asia's cleanest village there, and a crystal clear lake I think (it's clear seasonly though). Have a good time riding man.

I really hope you explored the outskirts of Meghalaya, the forest, the nature, living root bridges.. double decker living root bridges, numerous waterfalls, laitlum canyon, numerous caves in Cherrapunjee (ex highest rainfall on earth) now the title is held by Mawsynram (it's also in Meghalaya)
Not even sure if you will have time to explore all of it.
I am not a khasi but i called Shillong, home. I might just start crying writting all these 🤣🤣🤣.. i am so emotionally attached to Shillong, Meghalaya.
