I've found a lot more success in actually playing around the different weaknesses. Use a combination of weaponry and companions to focus on either going neutral or hitting them with what they're weak to. Then using abilities that increase DPS windows such as slow time etc. Simply stacking into one element doesn't seem effective and ultimately a design flaw with the game at least on Nightmare difficulty. I made a mage and ran into the same problem using lightning but they're resistant to your chosen specialisation, your build falls apart. The game also doesn't offer viable alternatives. Perhaps a better system would be all skill based damage is neutral/physical and the weapon you equip applies that element. Ain't got the answers man, game is fun enough.

I've heard that in order to "harden" Lucanis, the choice you make will lose you access to certain vendors and potentially put you at odds with said faction, does making this choice lock you out of anything long term that synergizes with the build or remove certain uniques or questlines later in the game that fit this build?
You lose easy access to upgrades for your helmet, which sucks. I believe I used that vendor for more too. I hardened Neve instead and am happy I did so
hey - just updating from here as I finished the game. made some tweaks to your build, including grabbing the chest piece that stacks a multiplicative % buff for every unique advantage you have on (amazing with adrenaline, rally party, deflect, precision, necrotic weapons, armor buff, helm buff etc. and how many of these you can self-trigger thanks to the skill tree),. I even had harding throwing potions on me to give me regen for another buff. this combined with the arrow damage node led to some really really nutty damage, like 1.5k light attack dagger slashes on some enemies when everything was rolling, plus with emmrich's quietus feeding you perma-momentum, and the rune that gives you full resources on use, you can just spam abilities endlessly. once I got it rolling (after picking up Arainai's talon and making a few gear swaps), I zoomed through the rest of the game on custom with everything set to the highest damage and health options.

Got some questions regarding the necrotic weapon from offhand 1. Does it last forever until combat ends? 2. Why the use of Serpent Kiss? It seems to remove necrotic weapons and you will have to repop it yourself 3. Does Lucanis Eviscerate stack?
1. Yes, Necrotic Weapons from the offhand weapon is permanent. However, the Serpent's Kiss ring will remove it and you will have to apply it again using another method. 2. As OP stated in the video, this build is capable of easily reapplying Necrotic Weapons so the uptime isn't an issue at all. Might as well make use of a unique ring, right?
