    PLEASE READ
    There is some complete waste of a life pretending to
    be me and messaging everyone saying they have won
    a prize and they need to telegram. This person has
    managed to get the @snapsbyfox handle on telegram
    and is pretending to be me.
    It is obviously not me because the level of English is
    horrific and he refuses to prove it is me - just gets
    aggressive.
    Please use your common sense and report any
    comment here you see. I'm actively trying to get this
    piece of shit removed but the social platforms are not
    the easiest to deal with. Thank you.

    Upgrading from the X-T1 to the X-T3 really opens up how useful a lot of these settings are. The responsiveness of the X-T3 has changed how I take photos (in terms of how I set up the camera) so this video diving deeper into these settings and their uses is quite helpful. On the X-T1 I was much more of a set all 3 parts manually then take the photo. With the X-T3 its improved responsiveness has made playing around with letting the camera make some of the secondary choices a fun and challenging way to change things up.

    This is well timed. I was just having a discussion on why you needed to know how to set the auto settings & when to override the auto settings. I was told I was being old fashioned because the technology knows more than we do. I typically shoot in aperture but the auto ISO has saved a few hiking pictures with the constant moving from shadow to sunlight.

    I've been using a 17-40mm on a FF lately using a lot of 1/30 - 1/40 shutter speed (landscape bright sunny days), auto ISO in AP underexposed. Some photo's I've been using F/16 or 18 (all handheld) Kind of eerie photos with a painting like look to them, a nice blur. I'll lock the focus on something like a distant tree with the sun so everything else is kind of dark, nice colors/ contrast. I must have lost my mind. .. lol

    This is a nice, succinct compilation of things you've covered in other videos and is quite helpful. I'm wondering how you practiced. Did you pick one scenario at a time and shoot it many times until it was locked into muscle memory? Did you pick a scenario where light was going to change and force yourself to switch between to scenarios? Did you take notes about settings as you experimented in various situations? Thanks again for a helpful video. Have a great week.

  • @tommartin9731
    @tommartin9731 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    One thing I've learned about the Auto ISO settings is that while the camera will not exceed the ISO range, the camera will prioritize exposure in lower light and set SS below whatever you've set as your minimum. I discovered this doing street shooting with my SS minimum set to 1/250. In lower light my XT-3 dropped the SS to below 1/100 in a couple shots. So beware of this.
    I do love your recommended settings, however.

    • @enshongmiranda
      @enshongmiranda 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A workaround is to set the shutter speed manually. Auto-ISO will still work but the shutter speed won't go below what you set.

    • @randallcotten5069
      @randallcotten5069 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@enshongmiranda I agree. You can't really trust the auto ISO shutter speed setting. Another tip: I use the back thumb dial on my X-T3 to fine tune the ISO setting.

    At least on a Fuji it's possible to set AEL as a modified back button focus so once you press it once the focus stays locked until you change the setting, rather than have to keep it held down. Works great for quick focus and recompose.

    Unfortunately Fuji seems to prioritise exposure instead of the minimum shutter speed value with auto iso and auto shutter speed. For example, if you set auto iso from 160 to 3200 and 1/250 but you are in a dark environment, the camera will go below 1/250. This does not make sense to me, when I was shooting with Nikon the camera has always used my settings, I prefer an underexposed photo instead of a blurry one

    Shooting in Manual all the time, I find that the easiest thing to do is first select an iso that is proper to the environment and stick with it. Then I select an aperture for the scene in accordance to the septh of field I end and after that I select a shitter speed that's appropriate for the exposure I need (creatively speaking). If it's too slow, I open up a bit or crank the iso. I never used any manual mode or compensation tools on my camera. I think it's a good guide but it's not as good as YOU to determine the correct exposure for your style.of photography.
