Why do they make it so hard?? My dad's been changing the oil in our cars for yrs and he couldn't figure my new Captiva out. We watched your video to get some tips but he doesn't have the right tools so now we gotta go out and buy the right ones. Thanks for the help tho we will definitely be coming back to this video when we get the right parts!
...accessing this oil filter is a pain......I had to buy the 32 mm socket and use a swivel head , so now it's not too difficult ...and I skip replacing the filter every other oil change.......
Good day from South Africa. Wishing you all a prosperous 2024. We have a Chev Captiva 2014, 2.4 LT model, petrol Hope you can assist or point us in the right direction. Engine didn't overheat, however oil and water mixed. Vehicle not smoking or sluggish when driving, water just seems to disappear. Vehicle stood for 2 weeks before going to the workshop, before starting the engine we checked the water tank, it was empty after filling it up prior. Radiator is not leaking, pipes are in tacked. They have now stripped the engine, top gasket not blown, head fine, water pump fine, pistons fine, no ridges in sleeves, everything is fine. What are we missing? Where should we look. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Regards Reg and Davina Cox
Hey there chief! Love the video man you did a great job explaining and everything. I would like to know what kind of extension you used and socket? I can’t find it anywhere
thanks for dripping oil all over my engine compartment. prob the same guy who forgot to put the gasket back on when he did an oil change on my car. Also, go buy a low profile 32mm socket made for filter caps and you won't struggle.
I would love to see that too. I just paid the dealership just under $500 to replace mine. Major hit to the wallet! Hubby usually does this but when he looked under the hood he wasn't comfortable doing it as he's used to older cars. Wish we could've seen a tutorial!
@@legnalove2147 remove the fuel line that run from the tank to the engine and see if fuel comes out if yes its the front pump if not its the pump in the back
Thank you!!!!!!
You saved me $70.
May your basket never be empty.

My impact 32mm was a hair too long, but I used a big ass crescent wrench and it broke right at least... with a couple busted knuckles
Le acabo de hacer el servicio a una 2013 batalle para quitar el filtro apretaron de más y no tenía el oring yo ya la dejé al 100 saludos desde Tijuana

No dont skip the oil filter that just as important as replacing the oil
no... the filter change is not as important or critical as changing the oil.....
5 quarts of 05w30:check
Oil filter and ring:check
Swivel socket extension:…dang it
Thank you bro.
Please buy the 32 mm socket special for the filter, cost 5 dollar
THIS!!! It's a 32mm socket for the oil filter cap NOT a 1.25 inch socket! No wonder it kept slipping off in the video
You have to use a torquimeter to adjust the drain plug, it also drips oil on the front of the vehicle, a disaster.

i hope its easier on my c100 diesel captiva!
The socket you used for the oil filter cap what brand is it mine is not shallow enough
Polo Torres I had the same problem. You have to loosen the filter cap enough to hand twist it off.
can you please do a video how to change the serpentine belt on this same vehicle please, would really appreciate it ! (:

Actually it takes 6 qt of oil I know I have a captiva
can you make a video how to change or where is the fuel pump located
Under the back seat if there is no cut out to access the pump from there you have to drop the tank
There are 2 fuel pump there is one on the engine and one in the gas tank to get to the one in the gas tank you have to remove the tank from the car
do you think that the reason why the rpm go up and down when is on or when i am at street light
the diagnostic said that i have to replace the fuel pump but you said there’s 2 so how do i know which one it need to be replace it lol

How much pressure are you applying to the drain plug to tighten it? It only has be be firm
(18 lb ft ) for the drain plug and filter cap
Mine 32 socket can't squeeze in...

What year is this? Is this the 3.0?
Chris Joseph its a 2.4 l what year you have
Dullah Goso hard 2015 Chevy captiva
