Thanks for this tutorial, helped me out for sure. I have only worked on commodores up till I brought the captiva. It’s reassuring to see that the brake system is pretty much the same. Saves heaps of money when you can do things like this yourself, especially when your a girl. Here in Australia I have found girls and women get ripped off badly by mechanics. Hand a girl a spanner and TH-cam tutorial lol 😂
I just did my brakes by just looking at this video.. I always thought it's difficult but you showed me how simple it is. I didn't have the pressing tool so I used a screwdriver to press out the pistons before removing the pads.. Soo easy
In other videos I was instructed to loosen the brake fluid nut because compressing the caliper pistons will force the brake fluid to do more than just overflow the master cylender but also damage the antilock brake module. What the take on that issue?

You can bleed the brakes to get rid of spongey condition. Also make sure your brake fluid in the master cylinder is correct. Installing new pads would not in effect put air in the brake lines. Check those and let me know if your problem is still there.

Does the electronic park brake work on all 4 wheels? If so, I guess it has to be off, even when changing the front pads right?
