- Part two of three and you voted that I should visit London. I was a bit nervous about this but ended up having a great time. I visited Camden Town, Borough Market, Tate Modern and The Houses of Parliament. I even had a look at The Savoy.

Tips for London you can use your Debit card on the Tube also if your only going one or 2 stops it's usually Quicker to Walk and when your Hungry just go in Aldi and get snacks don't get ripped off
Pity you caught the tube it’s a lovely walk along the Regents Canal to Camden
That short road to the Savoy entrance is the only one in Britain where you drive on the right.
Londons my home town. Live and work here. I drive for a living, so I get to see the sights all day every day. Never get bored of it. It’s mad how it’s full of tourists every day. There’s nothing to be scared of, same as any place. Watch out for nutters and weirdo’s
Same...only 35 years ago.
It really hasn't changed that much.
I miss it so much but can’t afford to move back now sadly. Wish I’d never left it but hey ho.
James I hadn't been to London till 3 years ago Im 63! we have been twice and now I absolutely love it I was scared of going on the underground but it is so easy to get around, The National Gallery was my favourite xxx
Tate Modern when i last went to londinastan reminded me of the paintings 5 year olds would send in the the show of there cat or dog on tony hart or the local news. shit hole full of everyone but Londoners. your very brave walking around with a few bobs worth of camera. hope you get back up north without getting mugged.
I’m a Londoner, born and bred, and I’m originally from Bethnal Green where I was born. Moved out into Essex in 2017. Although, I enjoy visiting Central London from time to time on the Elizabeth line, I feel sometimes I enjoy my visit whereas other times I can’t wait to go back to Essex. The vibe has changed and it feels different. It no longer feels like the same city as before but I still enjoy visiting the touristy areas on a weekend. The sad part is, many of the traditional Londoners I grew up with have either died from old age, or moved out. As a kid I remember back in the 80s with my BMX, me and my friends would cycle from Victoria park canal all the way to Regents canal near Camden lock. It was fun, but I wouldn’t cycle down that way now on my mountain bike to reminisce because I wouldn’t feel safe. I also remember when I was in my 20s, me and my friends would go to Camden Palace on a Saturday night, remembering those times when you’d drink a pint of beer for Dutch courage to chat up the ladies while the DJ was playing Lisa Stansfield - People hold on. It was a different time and a different place. Remembering also, when me and my mates in the mid 90s skived off college during the afternoon and went to Camden market to buy some vinyl from a backstreet record store for our technics 1210s. When all of a sudden, I saw David Frost get out of his blue Rolls Royce. We said Hello David, and he waved back at us and said hello.
People who believe putting a lock on a fence is the path to a long lasting relationship, are doomed to have failed relationships. 🤣 Keep up the good work, loving your videos.
Longboats for Vikings; Narrowboats for thin locks (7 feet wide); Barges for wide locks (14 feet wide). 👍
Guy cutting the padlocks made me laugh 😂
Like others have said ‘it does wear you out mentally and physically’
It’s always been busy up there but there are some really good sights to see especially inner London,
Outer London done bother unfortunately it’s like downtown Pakistani with rubbish to go with it
Keep up the vids 👍
I live in rural Northumberland but adore London. I go down often and there is so much to do and see. Enjoy it James. Xx
Having been to London about 7 or 8 times this year watching the Mighty Blades and visiting my kids one thing I will say is that London has some fantastic old proper pubs. You could easily do a very entertaining series visiting a lot of them with Hellsbells.
James you should take Helen to London at Christmas time, it's magical, and the atmosphere is electric.I've been going for the past 12 years and it gets better every year. Great vlog by the way, I'm hooked ❤
20 years in London and I don't miss it one bit!
I know central London very well, I've been here over 15 years now, you covered quite some distance, any wonder you were knackered! I could have been your guide but I'm a bit camera shy. As you said it's hard to avoid the tourists but at least you stayed away from Oxford Street which is always a nightmare. Camden is my favorite part, it still has many great live music venues where I've spent a lot of time. Thanks for sharing as always James.
Love London but it wears you out, physically and mentally… love my home town of Shropshire 😊
Do u mean county?
@@Wilibear1 I live in Telford Shropshire so it’s a town in the county of Shropshire ☺️
@@clareboylan6741 that’s what I said , you initially said your home town of Shropshire, which is a beautiful country not a town,no offence meant
@@Wilibear1 I know that’s why the smiley face 🙂
i think "the toaster" building is known as the walkie talkie building
I think you nailed it, James... as it looked more like a toaster to me too. At least us Brits still have a sense of humour about our nicknames for buildings. As I'm sure you know, we have the Dalek in Leeds 😛
I've really enjoyed this walkalong, your voice is so calm and relaxing that it can even make London seem laid back. Thank you James, I'm looking forward to the next installment. All the best.
Husband was brought up in London...tells me he wouldn't ever want to live there again.. we're 'up north'..and staying here..❤️
I was brought up in Highbury and I wouldn’t want to live there again either .
@@Ned.1274 I live farther down from Stratford near Ilford. Can't wait to escape.
I live in Essex but cover a contract in Camden twice a week, great show, Camden is what it’s always been, trust fund kids playing edgy hipsters, it’s a toilet of a place , keep up the good work 👌🏼
Lived in Kentish Town for 14 years it went to shit a long time ago.
@@Warp75 agreed, I’m from east London originally, same there aswell , dangerous shit hole of city now. All the best
@@user-whu I looking to get out of London now I’m done with it. Tbf I’m done with England in general. Cheers
You covered some ground in London in such a short period of time. As I said you definitely need more than a day on London. Hope you found another pub before catching your train. Just can’t believe your now going to Edinburgh 🤦♂️
I had a stall in the market in the 80's..was original stuff...now it's fake Gucci and tat from China etc...also heavy crack dealers around the bridge and high st...I go once every 5 years and leave after an hour...it's total crap now...spitalfields is better.
So sad how Camden market has shrunk in size over the decades, used to be huge markets over both sides of the road, but has slowly been sold off at huge profits for luxury flats, its a shadow of its former glory. There used to be sooo many more independent stalls, now its more and more generic tatt for tourists. Bruff market had me roaring , your mate stitched you right up 😂I bet the prices for a pint was a shock for you! As a southerner its nice to see you down here covering somewhere I used to frequent James, great solo vlog cramming alot in bud 👍🏻
Nothing to buy these days. Was good many years ago...30 years.
Us Yorkshire folk well outa our comfort zone in London 😂😂
very well said us Yorkshire folks we'll outa our comfort London we got a lot of south people al over south Yorkshire
Quite right went in 1985 qnd was too busy for me then. Never felt need to go back.
@@antonysandersonfromenglandshefSame here in north east too many come up here we need to send them back to where they come from just like the Rwanda deportation
Thanks James, another brilliant video 💚 America is my homeland, I live in north Wales, but I spent the majority of my life (just over 43 years) living and working in central London, and in my humble opinion, absolutely nowhere else in the UK compares to it. I may not live there now, but it will always be home ❤🧡💛
Not been for a long time and certainly don't miss it.
Well done fella, your efforts are really paying off.Great series of video's so far.
Another great video! 👍🏻👍🏻
Good on ya ,loving these videos
Excellent James!! Well done as always 🍺 ❤
Well done James for doing this, great idea👍😁
Oh yes, i`m going to enjoy these next few blogs as it`s as though we are with you live and experiencing everything as it happens. Brilliant idea by you James to do this and it adds to the excitement. Cannot wait for the next instalment.
Nice to see someone out of there comfort zone and pull it off so smoothly well done really good Dave loved it ❤
Thanks James!
I went on a boat trip with my daughter and brother on the canal a few years ago! Camp den Market was enjoyable! She used to have a flat in Hampstead!
Thanks again for the memories! 🙏
Another good one James, you will soon be at 50k subscribers and well deserved too 👍
Thank you James for taking me to London with you that was a brilliant trip. And your Narrating of all the places was excellent. Cant wait for the next trip 👍
Absolutely brilliant ❤
I'm really enjoying this format James, great idea 👍🏻
the doughnut shop and the argentinian empenadas are a must if you ever go back to borough market.
a great video James good man
I think, maybe you were looking at 20, Fenchurch St as you crossed the Millenium Bridge, aka, The Walkie Talkie,(the one that melted cars when the shone shone on it) but there's a newer one with sharp angles called the Cheesegrater & behind that , the Gherkin ?
You forgot to mention the Shard ;-)
@geoffas no, I didn't, the Shard is on the south side of the river about 200 metres south west from London Bridge
It was 20 Fenchurch Street, he mentioned
@@kathchandler4919 You made a list. As far as I'm aware, the 'Shard' is one of those iconic London modern buildings.
Well done James 😊😊 you did so well in that busy place and on your own! Brilliant job,
Not walked it since the 80s so thanks for sharing your journey ! Top Job 😊😊
Really enjoying this series….great idea for some vids👍
Thanks for this lovely vlog James, enjoyed seeing London ,as not been for many years, parts looked better than I expected 😊
You must be knackered all that walking, anyway enjoy your trip to Edinburgh, look forward to it 😀 ❤❤
You did a great job James...Thanx mate... enjoyed it all.✅👍
Hi.James. Once again we have really enjoyed your video. Was tired out watching you. You did really well for your first time there. We were there few weeks ago and we nearly fell through the floor with some of the prices. For a Pint and a glass of Wine it cost my Husband £19. But that's London and the South prices. Thank goodness we live up North. Once again well done. And you and Helen do come to Sunderland. Hope to bump into you. Will buy you a pint.😊❤
Enjoying these off the cuff adventures , James
The toaster!! Brilliant!😂😂
Loving this adventure!
OMG you covered so many miles .. WELL done great vlog
Another classic James, well interesting 👍
My elder daughter lived in an apartment at Paddington Basin at one time , the lounge and kitchen both had big balconies off them& they overlooked the Grand Canal 🎉
Really enjoyed this vlog.
great vlog james
EDINBURGH!!!!! It's beautiful! Though I am Scottish..
James you went to Camden Lock but didn't go into Spoons! the Ice Wharf overlooks the canal, you wont find a cheaper pint in London
The toaster building is the walkie talkie and it has a great free viewing garden at the top, you need to book a slot in advance but it is free. Great views every bit as good as the stupidly expensive Shard.
Brilliant vlog. Only been to Natural History Museum and Harrods so it was great to look around Camden and your experience on the underground. Can't wait for the next one, Edinburgh is a beautiful city but I think you are going to be more than a bit tired sleeping on a train seat😮
There’s so much to do in London. You can get easily pissed too. I would love you to have gone to Margate then Edinburgh but maybe another time. 😊
Another enjoyable Vlog 👍
You're right, London would be the perfect place to practice vlogging. You were fitting in well with all the other tourists. I'm always checking with people when I get on foreign trains, worried I might be on the wrong one. I did it once in Madrid but quickly got off and then over to the other side with the right one. I love those narrowboats and have watched a few YT channels with them, it would be a fun experience I think. Hope you've been having fun in Edinburgh, I really enjoyed visiting that city. Well wishes to you.
I have walked the route you are on many times. Had a few pints in the Anchor. See the Golden Hinde go across the Millenium Bridge to St Paul.s Cathedral great walk
Good stuff james
Enjoying your current UK travel James, look forward to the Edinburgh, my favourite city. Good job on your tutoring Rebecca with her first vlog. My evenings here in CA are made complete when watching your adventures and aslo with Helen Thank you both.
Enjoyed this vlog James I feel like Im on an adventure too looking forward to Edinburgh some gorgeous architecture there❤
enjoy your trip to edinburgh royal mile high street victoria street grass market holyrood palace mind and have a look down the closes on the royal mile
Used to go in the Old Cheshire Cheese in the 70s, when i worked at King's College Uni, and the building you that you was not quite sure of, is known as the walkie talkie building, and has a roof garden that you can visit for free. As you say to busy now, to cosmopolitan even for my liking being and old Londoner in my 70s, only go to see a show or two now.
I loved Camden when I visited London ❤
Well done James, hopefully all the walking will keep you fit.. Keep the videos coming, youll soon have 50,000 subscribers and move on to 100,000😁
Crikey…that’s a blast from the past, I used to be a regular in The Cheshire Cheese some 27 years ago (it wasn’t over £6 a pint!) I also used to buy clothes and records from Camden Market before it became too trendy, we knew the market from playing Dingwalls (probably gone now) which used to be an excellent venue where I played drums in our awful punk band ‘Bladder Bladder Bladder’… don’t ask!🤷♂️🤣. Good memories I spent 10 years down there before returning to Stockport where I am now happily retired.
Sending love from the potteries in stoke Julie and John ❤
Great vid Jim. How about the Isle of Skye.. 😊
I am in London one weekend every month, your video reminded me when I needed to help a very confused tourist find her way on the underground, it's confusing at first but is incredibly well designed
Loads of good walks in London too, canals are great and the historic graveyards
I lived in Earls Court for a year. This was around 1994. Went there last year and it's a completely different vibe now. Difficult to explain without sounding bigoted so I won't bother.
Great video James although 20 quid for a pint and a sarnie is ridiculous lol
I enjoyed your London trip. I know what you mean hustle in Bussell. It’s not for us but good video. I am busy. London for a long time hasn’t changed.
Me n dragon caught up on most vlogs. Love them all. The London one far to busy for me I used to drive 60 foot long car transporter through London night mare but have driven through Camden loads. Under that bridge as well 😬😬😬😬
That London will be full of Loiners next Sunday, exclaiming how much !! Humphrey Smith has the right idea though charging crazy prices for Taddy's fine beers for soft southerners to relish. Come on LEEDS. Great video. PS I went down to smoke in 1985, never felt the need to return.
The funny shaped building is the Walkie Talkie. There's an amazing indoor garden on the top floor.
Your poor little legs James lol you deffo covered some distance. Enjoyed yr vlog as always. Looking forward to seeing yr train journey 😮 seeeetheee Maxx
Fabulous video, I have only been to the usual spots, saw a show at the Palladium and loved Soho. I posted a short video from there. How are your feet doing, I would have blisters on my blisters 😫 Looking forward to Edinburgh, we are going during the festival in August, fantastic street theatre and atmosphere.
Great James - Visiting Scotland at last. Try and make it up to top of Arthur’s Seat. Great views & a little bit of countryside in the centre of Edinburgh. You’ll love it❤
Brilliant!!! 🕊️
❤ I never read the art blurbs either. You’d be there all day 😂.
Glad you tackled yr fear of the underground. Xxxx
“There’s always some nutter shouting” 😂 Yeah, there is 😂
You surprised me being a bit windy about getting on the tube etc. as you always strike me as a man who’s been there, done that. I do love a trip to London. There are so many amazing free museums and galleries and it has a certain vibe that you just don’t get anywhere else.
You walked bloody miles though. I’d have been hopping on and off the tube for that but I’m old, unfit and lazy 😂 You made it look like it was all within the same area 😮😂
According to my app, I walked over 14 miles!
Well done James you deserve a pint all that walking around.
Your uk tour reminds me of the dice man who would show a dice to see where he went next.
Thank you . Glad you got through it unscathed. I used to go to London with my nan as a child and it was so much quieter then, there were large gaps in between cars can you believe 😅..
Thank you so much Jules :-)
@@bythecurb Very welcome. Stay safe on the trains 😊
My hometown, no longer live there, in sth west now, hi to Helen ❤
James I've loved your last two vlogs, see you in Edinburgh tomorrow.
James really enjoyed that
Hi james cracking video as alwats mate cu on next one 🎉
Hi James your enjoying life traveling all over the place ❤😊
Make sure you go down to the Shore in Leith. You can get the tram or a 25 or 16 bus directly across from Waverley. Bus fares are good value. It’s about 20 mins from the train station. Portrait Gallery in Queen Street (10 mins walk from station). Royal Mile is FULL of history but tourist central (I’m not complaining!). So much to see and do but luckily it’s all city centre so you should get to see loads. Looking forward to this video!
Only travel to and from Heathrow, I mean to fly there and back to places..then on to the north..never actually been around London and I must admit I've never wanted to.great video as always ❤
Why not come to see wonderful Nottingham or Derby enjoying the vlogs keep up the good work cheers 😊😊
That bridge you were on is one of two, nicknamed the Wig Wam bridges, both pedestrian
That sandwich looked right nice 😊
And the pint did 😊
I wanted you to go to Brighton think of all the shops .lol
Enjoy x
You did really well there James.
My home town can be an intimidating place for the newcomer, but you covered a ton of ground in a very short space of time..
I get the feeling you were a bit on edge all the time though?
Just to give some perspective on that...
I would feel EXACTLY the same if I were ever to visit Baaaarnsley! 😂
In fact...
I visited Blackpool about 40 years ago on a coach trip, and felt so self-concious of my Cockney accent...that I didnt want to SPEAK any more, after walking around for a bit.
I couldnt wait to get back on the coach...and head back "home" to the smoke! 😅
Home is where the heart is...
Be that London...or Barnsley.
To be fair, I felt safer in London than I did in Blackpool 😂
😂😂😂@@bythecurb
There’s also a beach in Edinburgh! Portobello. About half an hour/40 mins away on a bus from the city centre.
Well James this is turning out to be a cracking series of vlogs, can't wait for the Edinburgh one it's a beautiful city. What on earth will you come up with next to beat this?
I saw a blog?about someone going from London to Edinburgh and got a coach from Euston to Edinburgh took sbout 11 hours and cost I think was 58 pound
Wow! Great job! You chose a fantastic route with great London highlights.
You can just use your bank card, don't need an oyster card. And, if you were there longer I think you'd find the buses really handy...
