@icebreaker4354 the brutality of it is accurate as well as how gory it is. Its obviously not 100% accurate but there a historian that looks over clips of this game and actually gives an accurate scaling of how accurate this game is can't remember what he gave it though 😵💫

Unapologetically, World at war has, without a doubt, the best campaign in the series! Unlike other cod games that seem to make us enjoy war in a Hollywood way, WaW never glorified it. Everything feels real, mature and respectful. Taking the mechanics of the original 3 games and adding realistic violence made this game one of the best ww2 shooters and put Treyarch on the map as they still go strong today. It's because of the Russians and their heroic sacrifice that countries like mine were freed. Out of the 60 million people that gave their lives in ww2 , 20 million of those are Russians. Hi Jonesy! This is probably my favorite cod game ever! Because it is one of the most realistic war games ever especially as WWII was one of the most brutal times ever in human history! 😭
Hey Jonesy I’m glad you’re going down the black ops rabbit hole, all i can say is you are going to enjoy it and Im glad Im going to be part of it. Have a great rest of your day
I've had the privilege of visiting the Marshall Islands' Majuro atoll on a medical mission. The contrast of the calm inner lagoon vs. the unrestrained Pacific on the outside. It's a gorgeous and unique place, but I can't imagine the misery of fighting in all that heat and humidity. Also made me think of my late grandfather who was with the Filipino guerrillas fighting the Japanese and his brother who survived the infamous Bataan Death March.
I can’t wait to see you play my all time favorite mission in cod history! “Vendetta”. And meet my favorite cod character ever rivaling Captain Price. ❤️😊.
World at War has a special place in my heart as a Call of Duty player, as it was the first game I played in the series, and the one I was recommended to play first. This game is the reason I have the words “TENNO HAIKA BANZAI!” stuck in my head because of the pacific theatre; it does a very good job at showcasing just how bloody crazy, dangerous and frightening the Japanese were in WWII, and are among my favourite missions in the campaign. And that’s just the first course...next time, you’ll be entering the European theatre, which will be where you’ll meet your new best friend. P.S: Get used to dying to grenades; I remember Treyarch campaigns having a lot of grenades lobbed at you. Though, watching you survive bayonet charges just to running a grenade going off is pretty amusing. Mind those pineapples!
"it maybe goes before modern warfare" I've never been so disappointed in somebody ability to analyze box art of a game and find it obvious what era it is depicting
I want to let you know Jonesy that I have two grandpas who served in the army back in World War II. One in the European Theater fighting against Germany and one in the Pacific Theater fighting against Japan. But both of them survived and they are still here in 2024. ❤️😊. And yes, my family is a military veteran family. 🙏
If Black Ops Gulf War comes out before she gets to BO2, It will probably be wiser to play that , depending on the story. They blended Cold War pretty good.
Another great one was Call of Duty 2 and Call Of Duty 3. WW2 classics. But my god World at War was something else, nightmare fuel. Great gaming Jonesy!
The M1 Garand rifle was called the greatest battle implement ever created by General Patton, and it’s not hard to see why. It was the only rifle of its kind that was standard issue for any military during the war. Everyone else had bolt action rifles as standard issue.
Ahhhh I’m ready to watch this shortly when I’ve made my dinner......this lass is a geezer bird and thats a badge of honour to me, I love her and could sup a couple of beers with her anytime !!!
To let you know Jonesy, this cod and the Black Ops series were made by a different company Activision. Not Infinity Ward as they made Modern Warfare. 😊
I remember buying this game at a Sears for $29. Didn't know if I was going to like it like other FPS games. Turned out I did, played last year on my ps3.
Back then? Probably. Today though, you can look up a lot of the footage itself on TH-cam, archivial websites that deal with film roles, or even the National Archives themselves has posted several WWII pieces of media online for anyone to view. I recognize many clips from the game. Several snippets of film actually do show the Battle of Peleliu, which could be reason why they decided to feature it in the game (though I think they were really trying to draw their influence from the book “With the Old Breed” by Eugene Sledge, the same Sledge depicted in the HBO miniseries, the Pacific.) They also sprinkle in footage of the Battle of Tarawa and other battles as well.
Also you want to talk about voice acting? This game has the best voice acting in the series. Just to give you an idea of the talent present, you got Kiefer Sutherland as Roeback and the big one, the legend himself Gary, I can do any accent, freaking Oldman as Viktor Reznov. He is the second best character in the series.
I remember playing this game. It was a fun game. There are some historical inaccuracies. Like the Japanese Type 100 submachine gun, there were only a few thousand built during WW2. U.S. troops didn't even encounter the Japanese Type 100 submachine gun until late in WW2. There are some other historical inaccuracies, but it was a blast to play.
I'm looking forward to this one. While not heavy on story, it's one of the most gruesome WW2 experiences out there. No other WW2 game truly captures the horror and brutality of the war the way this game did.
