    Good tips, but one part is missing - on drops with uneven edges it is best to unweight the whole bike otherwise rear wheel will bounce and you will go otb. Jeff Lenosky had a video about that

      @a2bbiking  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Great point man, I will incorporate that into another video about more technical drops soon! 🙌👌

      How can you unweighted the whole bike?

      I broke my collarbone last year because of that exact problem. I won’t be trying any drops again 😒

      You have to preload your body and suspension, so it's a lot about timing of when you do it👍

    Otb is exactly what give me the shivers with mountain bikes. I ride Dirtbikes and it’s just not the same but recently I have been wanting to get into mtb

    • @a2bbiking
      @a2bbiking  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah the OTB is a very scary thought, but you can also lock in some solid practice to avoid it👌 Knowing when you could be at risk of going over the bars is important too, then you can avoid those situations if possible

    The thing is, dropping is easier than both a bunny hop and a manual. It's likely that one learns to drop first.

    • @a2bbiking
      @a2bbiking  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely, fully agree, it's easier because you can just commit and try. But as you progress and ride more technical drops, I think having these skills in the bag for safety is a good idea, as they will help when you need them most🙌

  • @Ghostshadow714
    @Ghostshadow714 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I will say that for beginners the most important skills to learn are the bunny hop and being able to pick up your front wheel AKA manual, Master these skills. they will serve you well.

    • @a2bbiking
      @a2bbiking  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fully agree man, these skills will take you very far, Being able to weight and un-weight your bike too is very important!😎

  • @wolfaxcilco
    @wolfaxcilco ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Yeah, i took effort to take the bike upwards to late so i pushed the front wheel downwards and i broke my collarbone ( 2021 )

    Start with BMX street. Once you learn drops on a 20" with 110PSI tires, this will be child's play.
    Good instructions though. I would also add to learn how to suck up landings with your legs, it smooths things out more.

  • @jaad7562
    @jaad7562 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Wrong again. Don't ever "sink your hips over the back of the bike". It's a WRONG technique! For the most of the drops at a normal speed, be center over the bottom bracket, go low with your chest over your stem just before the edge and push the bike through the edge with the right speed and the angle to match the landing. Rebalance in the air and land your front wheel first rather to regain control as soon as possible.

    miss the days trial and error was the way, scars are just part of the process.

    • @a2bbiking
      @a2bbiking  ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely, that was mostly how I learned as well. The process definitely takes time and a lot of effort in the background, and some scars to show for it👌💥

  • @Velo1010
    @Velo1010 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Seeing as how many riders crash on drops it shocks me that those who do want to drop the front wheel off the edge. Then they roll over the bars. If you’re going to freak out may as well let the bike roll off landing on both wheels. This way the bike absorbs the drop.
