How can i set, that the midi events shows for example c2 or b3 in the event.?
i am wondering if you can get Composer assistant for Reaper to work. i installed it all and for some reason in the Preferences - Reascript window things are just not working right for me it shows that python27.dll is installed but when i check off enable python for reascript and try to run something , reaper just doesn't see those scripts. i msg the person who made it on their youtube and they will not reply for some odd reason

I've been using global sampler for a while now and it's great! I have it on my monitoring bus as tbe first plugin and have the script docked and running at all times.

Thank you as always, after some head scratching and troubleshooting due to my lack of knowledge I finally managed to install them all. For newbies like me who are new to customization facing issue with these scripts. sharing my experience,
1. For Gridbox, once you added the script in transport Context from customize toolbar option then simply enable it from options by right-clicking on transport bar.
2. To dock the MX Tuner properly under Media Explorer, make sure to hold Ctrl and then drag it to the place where you want to place it. (learned this hard way)

For gridbox is that really the way to install it? There is no option to add script there? Or I can't find it. Why is this not in the instructions? I got nothing to install and im good at computers. I installed repositories and nothing....I've tried everything!!

You rule dude. Thanks for all the great tips from your channels. 14 year Reaper user. Only software that gets me that "in the bottom of the gut" excitement every single time I open it. I had been using most of these already but that Media Explorer tuner is another piece of GOLD I had no idea about.
Your ReaperTips theme is also the ONLY DAMN THEME that I have liked since the default 5 and 6 "nitpicky" edition. Blessings upon you brother!

For anyone else curious, I just used the SWS start up actions in Extensions, opened "Set GlobalStart-up Action" and pasted the ID of the Global Sampler Script
@@Dhrune Yes awesome job!! and if you want multiple actions to open when REAPER starts, you can make a custom action with all your favorite actions. I currently have one with ReaLauncher and my default screenset~

Aw thank you so so muuch Stephen!! I actually toned down my video production so I could make more videos. I don't have much time these days, but I am happy I was able to find a balance between these not taking too long but still look pretty decent!

Thank you! You can automate the rate by opening the master track in the TCP like I did, there's a "Playrate" envelope you can enable, veeery awesome for sound design!

Awesome tips, but the gridbox never works at startup. It opens but doesn t follow the grid until i right click and select a parameter again. Same for the midi editor. I am on a windows 11 PC. Can you help here ? Thanks.

How did you manage to put the MX Tuner in the small window on the left side? It takes the whole bottom up in my Reaper instance

I installed gridbox and show it on a toolbar, but there are no customisation options, it just shows the text 'adap grid' and the mouse wheel hover does nothing.... Any tips?
How do I attach MX tuner to the media browser in reaper? So it does not disappear every time I reopen reaper.
Thanks for the tips Alejandro, you have been a great resource for Reaper users. I am a vocal producer and use Melodyne in Reaper and have noticed that Melodyne is not saving the tuning changes been made, After Reaper 7 update, Melodyne does not save the VST plugin configurations(Maybe something wrong with ARA extension) and all the work in melodyne resets when the project is closed and opened again. Can you look into it ?

It definitely used to work with portable installs, but I haven't tested it in a long time :)

Yes! Running the script again will close it. So I just have it on my toolbar and press it when I want to use it :D
Super cool tips! The font of Chordbox is blurry, do you have an idea how to sharpen that?
Are you on Windows? IIRC the font looks a bit sketchy on Windows but unfortunately there isn't a way to improve that.
@@iliaspoulakis2931 No on Mac, but same issue. Reaper has many blurry spots, not a real issue.

Do you know of any scripts that adds a small text field popup to type in values for Reaper parameters like pan, stereo width, clip gain, etc? I would really like to have the text field when double-clicking a parameter, but even right-clicking would be sufficient. Thanks!

I've found loads threads asking for it on the Reaper forum spanning many years, so this feature is in high demand. It's a shame it hasn't been implemented natively yet, but if a script exists that would be great. Not being able to type in values is the biggest thing that bugs me about Reaper.

Chordbox's chord track display is incredibly useful, I can't wait to try that, you can essentially translate someone's arrangement into Chord Chart for quick bass/improv recordings - very nice for jazz folks too!

MX Tuner is mindblowing as well!!!
There is functionality for midi in this script - it works amazing, you can set different grid and limits. Just click on icon and scroll down to set it.
Also if you want quick access to the adaptive grid features inside the MIDI editor, you can add "Adaptive grid menu" to your MIDI editor toolbar.
btw how would I tune a sample by rate to the correct pitch? is there a function in reaper to allow this?
Hello!! You would need to double click the item to open the item properties and uncheck the box "Preserve pitch when changing rate". This will allow you to alter the pitch when stretching the item. To stretch the item hold Alt (or Opt) and drag one of the edges. You should see a number of rate changing on top of the item and also pitch next to it~
oh wow i didn't know that reaper calculated the pitch change when rate is changed as well. would be neat if there was an script that allowed one to change pitch based on tweaking the rate.. like +3 semitones and the script will just change the pitch via rate change..

Basically, other daws playback video at 60 fps with no problem. Reaper playback videos at something around 24-30 fps.
I have a very powerful pc, win 11, latest vlc, ffmpeg 4.4.1 (latest one don't work for some reason). I've tried different frame rates in project settings. I've tried different codec priority. Result is the same.
Do you have any ideas or where to search for a solution?

Ahhh right! You can change the splash screen via Preferences > General > Advanced UI tweaks. This splash screen is the one I included in the Reapertips theme :D

Installed gridbox but can't get it to show up.
That last script is so insane I almost don't believe it works.

How do you get the MX Tuner to be underneath the Media Explorer docked tab? I can't seem to figure this out. It's always showing only one docked tab at a time.
EDIT: I figured it out. It's a bug.. you need to first have a dock in the top position before MX Tuner can properly snap in the left column. It's weird.. but it works now and I can delete the top docked item as it was just a placeholder.

For updating Reaper (and pretty much every other application as well, with a few exceptions), I use something even more convenient: winget on Windows and brew on macOS.

I’ve been meaning to move over to Reaper for years as I’m a big fan, but coming from Acid and then Ableton for years.
These scripts are a GAME CHANGER especially Adaptive Grid and the MX tuner Pitch Detection in the Media Explorer!! 😮😮
With the Adaptive Grid, can you also choose Frames? (Couldn’t see this on the drop down?)

I just checked and I couldn't find an option for frame grid. However, if I set my grid value to frame via the right click menu on the grid icon, gridbox does show Frame and it works fine 🤔
So the functionality is there, but doesn't seem to be selectable option. I will let FTC know about this!
The "Frame" menu option isn't visible by default. You can enable it in the left-click menu > Options > Show in menu.
Edit: The script can't adapt grid lines when "Frame" is set (if that's what you meant). You can change the "minimum line spacing" setting in Snap/Grid Settings though, which basically does the same.
@@iliaspoulakis2931 Thanks, and yes I did think this, as I guess Frame Rate Grid is actually 'fixed' which makes sense, so it would be an on/off option I guess?
@@paulchambers3 when you enable it under options you get an off/on toggle for "Frame" in the menu, but it counts as a "Fixed" option so it disables adaptive grid.
Does the update program choose portable or full?

@@Reapertips it may be obvious to some, it would've been obvious to me too if I had installed it as a VST cause I do it often, but for some reason my brain didn't connect the dots when it's a js script 😄
why does the update script ask me to close reaper and doesn't just restart the program? not yet perfect, imho. Global sampler and MX tuner are cool
I think the warning is okay! You may have some unsaved projects. But I agree it could be an option to skip this prompt :)
There's an extra confirmation dialog on MacOS (people were complaining about no confirmation), you can disable it in the menu > Confirmation dialogs. Other than that, if the project doesn't have unsaved changes it shouldn't show a dialog.

i feel like you saw our conversation in the discord lolol. we were talking about adaptive grid and global sampler just the other day. thanks for the scripts, the older adaptive grid script did not work for me. i really needed that new one, thanks for finding it
edit: mx tuner won't dock for me in windows 11, weird. right click on the little keyboard thingy and it kinda glitches and won't open a drop down menu. weird stuff, it also does not close properly. you X out of the media explorer and MX tuner and the script still thinks it's running. it's a bit buggy on windows 11

@@Reapertips i really like how you used global sampler to pull out a sample but then you looped that sample, added another sound to it and then pulled that layerd new sound out of global sampler again. didn't see anyone do this yet. unreal technique for sound design items. thanks for the tips!!!
The script should now stop running when you manually close the window (just uploaded v1.8.1). The part where the menu doesn't open via right-click is really weird. I'll try to check on Win11, but it would be helpful if you can share more details (or even better a GIF) in the forum thread.

@@melodicadencearche2338 Can you right-click inside the window (not the toolbar) and open the menu? You can dock it through that menu like alejandro does in this video. The script tries to avoid having keyboard focus (so shortcuts will still work in the media explorer). Hmmm, I can probably find a more elegant solution...

Nope not working at all for me. Reaper says they are installed, but they don't show up in the action list. Also, ur install seems to be loading a number of files, but when I do this that doesn't occur.
