Tarps nowadays have taken the need for any tent on my wilderness camps no matter the weather. I only say this because the sleep I get with an all night fire keeping me 100% warm and dry far surpass the tent rest I've ever had! Great film Chris, always enjoy the work you put into these adventures!
Base Camp Chris what are the names of the green cargos you wear? It seems like it says wondog? Lol! Sorry, but I just like all the gear you utilize down to what you wear when you’re hiking. They seem comphy
I love winter camping, my favorite time of year to camp. Awesome video, I loved that beautiful weather you are in, didn't get very much snow here in Indiana.
Chris, this spring snow was so beautiful! I love big storms but we have not had much this year. Years ago, my husband & friends would winter camp near Algonquin Peak in the Adirondack mountains in upper NYS. Well, the last time he went it was very cold, a lot of snow which made hiking in very difficult. That year we had bought a home with a wood burning fireplace & it is a very cozy bungalow. When he returned, he told me this was the last trip. He was so miserable because all he could think was “ What the hell am I up here freezing & my wife & pets are cozy around the fireplace! He never went again! However, he knew I would also travel to a Rochester to shop with my sister spending $$ since he left me home alone! Lol!
Tim and I loved the video. We can’t believe you picked that night to camp out. We watched the storm while in front of the fire too....in our living room. You’re a beast!
Hello Chris, it's good to see you again. Thank you for sharing another informative video. You always do a great job of narrating. You picked a great spot for a campsite. I hope to get away on March 26th for a one week outing in El Dorado County. All the best to you for your good health and safety out there on the trail. 🤗
Nice hike chris what a magic spot, winter is just starting for us here down under. never done a snow camp/hike but its on my list. keep hiking mate love your vids.
It was actually mt first time camping in the snow...I had to pick a snowstorm! I snowshoe a lot though. Yes...beginning of winter down under....been a long one up here! Thanks for watching!
Hi Chris. We love all your videos. I am trying to catch up on all your older ones now. We live in the Sierra Nevada foothills in California and love to hike. My husband has camped and hiked all his life both her in California nd the Italian and Austrian Alps, (and technical climbing there). Love all your scary stories. I ask to see a scary story before we go to bed. Ha. He has heard sasquatch below yosemite while camping. Keep up with the great hikes and videos. I look forward to them.
Chris, you’re a sucker for punishment! Awesome camping equipment! PS…I don’t have Togo into the woods to see a herd of deer, I just have to look out into my garden, they like to bed down in the back garden.
Nice video would love to camp there it's been in the 80's here in the south and the mosquitoes are awful. I subscribed after watching this video keep up the great videos.
I wonder if you read comments from videos you post years ago? I just watched this one and enjoyed it so much! It sure looked like you passed a young Sasquatch on your right as you were leaving! Nestled back underneath the bows of the snow ladened tree, relaxing watching you! Right at 16:09 when you said "...while I was packing up..." kind of creepy.
Very welcome! The boots are Western Chief leather uppers ( similar to a Sorel Caribou ) Petzl Actik Core 450 Lumens on the headlight. ( amazingly very bright ) $69 bucks - not cheap but when night falls I'm always happy with it.
Throughly enjoyed this one! Love the snowfall hiking and fire camping. How peaceful, Chris!
Glad you enjoyed it

Reminds me of the Jack London short story : "To Build a Fire". Good show!!
Thanks Art! That was a good story.
You seem so relaxed camping in the snow, whereas most people would panic in this type of scenario.
HI Josh, I did enjoy it...maybe growing up in Minnesota helps! Hope your doing well...it's been quite a week for us!
@@basecampchris you're impervious to the cold.
Nice - looks like that was a great spot. Thanks for sharing 👍🏼

Great video chris, Sue Madre
Thanks Sue Madre...Enjoyable but a snowy/wet trip! "Keep Hiking!"
I’m trying to head up into the sierras in the next couple weeks.. still plenty of snow but they say no fires! Kinda ruining it for me
HELLO.
Hi. LIKE. VIDEO.
That was a great video. The snow was beautiful on all of the trees. That looked like an Osprey Atmos backpack. What size was it?
HI John...Thanks! it is the Atmos 65L...works very well for me!
✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
You gave me a heart attack when you fell
Thanks! Yes surprised me...ground was soft with the snow though.
Did you make it out?!???
Hi Dave, Yes...but, it was very slow going...it was closer to 4 feet! Thank you.
Don't use wet river rock for your fire pit. They can explode.
I'd be worried about cooking ground beef and inviting unwanted guest for dinner
Sure hope no coyotes or bears where you are setting up at
It is bear country...but no problems. Thanks!
Das klein Zelt ist schon
Unter das Tannenbaum ist besser sicher geschützter für das Zelt ne
Es tut mir leid das der Mann gefahlen ist der hat jetzt kein auer oder
GREAT. CAMPING.
