"Tremors": A "B movie" that rises to "A movie" status by telling a good story, having interesting characters, dancing between humor and Horror.;) Kevin Bacon was at a low point in his film career, and "did it for the money." He went from "Yeah, I did 'Tremors" to "Hell yeah, I did 'Tremors!" Michael Gross' character, "Burt Gummer" went from Prepper joke to gunslinging Hero and a mainstay of the series.

Absolutely. And I appreciate how they try to smooth over the continuity into the sequils I can't think of any other series that I have been a fan of past the 3rd movie. Maybe that b movie flavor helps it along too.

If it is a B movie, it is the best B movie ever made! I must have watched this a 100 times when I growing up, and I still wont turn it off anytime it pops up!

It's actually an A movie. If it was a B movie, it would have been sucked Alot of money went into this to make sure the tremors looked good. Plus Kevin Bacon was an A lister when this was made, and it was in theaters. B movies don't go to theatres. A movies can suck. A level movies have higher budgets and more well-known actors , and it has absolutely nothing to do with quality. Just saying.

The reason they showed that one graboid the blew up while they were on the rock at the end of the movie is because it had eggs in it that survived the explosion. There's several sequels to this that are all worth watching

There is some really good attention to detail and foreshadowing in this movie!
The cliff the last graboid is stampeded off of is the same cliff that Val was pissing off of at the start of the movie right before he stampedes Earl off the truck. And notice how Earl is wrapped up in his blanket and worms his way out of the truck bed, like the graboid off the cliff!

"Broke into the wrong goddamn rec room, didn't ya you bastard!"
Part of the backlash this movie got (and currently gets), is that people judge the movie on the mislabeled "horror" genre. It's a "creature feature" movie, which is a subgenre of action/adventure.
Fun Fact: Burt and Heather used the following firearms to kill the Graboid that burst into their rec room: Stey-Mannlicher SSG-PII, Winchester model 70, Winchester Model 1200 Defender, HK91A2, Colt AR-15 Sporter II, Remington 870, Sig Sauer P226, Ruger Redhawk, M8 flare gun, and then finally Burt finishes it off with a Belgian William & Co. 8 gauge shotgun (The Elephant Gun).
Bonus Fact: S.S. Wilson said that he got the idea for the film while he was working for the U.S. Navy in the California desert. While resting on a rock, he imagined what it might be like if something underground kept him from getting off the rock.

So I have to tell this story now. My dad has been a service and installation plumber for over 40 years. When I was a kid and into my teens, my dad would take me on his personal side plumbing jobs outside of his Monday through Friday job. On one such occasion, A friend of a friend of my father's who own an apartment complex built into the side of the hills above downtown Los Angeles called my dad as his building was backflowing sewage into the bathtubs, sinks, and toilets of the first and second-floor apartments. So we went out there to find where his central line stoppage was. It was in the "basement" and on the property owner's side of the mainline. Dad gave me the large wrench and told me to loosen the bolts so when he sent in the snake, the pipe wouldn't crack. Welp, I didn't know that you are supposed to loosen bolts in a star pattern, or you increase pressure on the subsequent bolts. I did 2 when I heard this groan and plink sound I'll never forget. I the pip split open at the seam and proceeded to cover my head to toe in at least two floors of human sewage. It went up to my nose and in my mouth. I was puking until my stomach was empty and even then was dry heaving for another ten minutes after. SO yeah, it's fucked to get covered in that manner, lol.

@@EOMReacts I appreciate that friend, I will say though if any good came from that experience it was two fold. 1, I now definitely know how to undue bolts correctly. And 2, I have a strong stomach now, not much interms of anything conventionally gross makes me sick or nauseous, I still don't approve of those things or want them around me, I'm just incredibly tolerant of them now ahahah.

Based JL being a Reba Appreciator & Milk Carton Warning Enthusiast (saving many movie watcher lives). His new address: That Rock Over There Street, Wormy, Nevada.
    (Story for JL below.)
    Story Time:
Let's say I know Reba's extended family, and she used to live way, way down the road from me. She used to go shopping in Wal-Mart in her hair curlers & sign autographs back in the day. Before the plane accident & before she really took off. She still comes thru here from time to time. Dad has met her. She's always nice from what I understood.

I mean, couldn't you just want to meet Blake Shelton? Make it easy on me, man! Dad met him at the Piggly Wiggly by accident in Tishomingo. Super nice guy.
That's a true story, and you better laugh at it. I don't just tell anyone & everyone- "Yeah my dad met Blake Shelton at the Piggly Wiggly and saw Reba at the Wal-mart once." HEHEHE.
      Dad said-
"These kids kept coming up to the guy asking for autographs. I was behind him in line. I have no clue who 'Blake Shelton' is. I think he is a country singer. Go look that up on the internet."
      Me (hour later)-
"Well, you met a super popular country singer dude, dad. You are now famous. How does that make you feel to have met a super famous person?"
      Dad-
"I think he was buying some ham.
They just gave it to him.
I had to buy my ham."

One thing I find the movie does way better than most horror movies is that they make (most of) the characters likeable, which makes it hurt more when they do get eaten. Movies like Scream, I'm just rolling my eyes or feeling mildly nauseous, but in this movie I'm outright rooting for everyone to live.
*Edit:* Also, they have the monsters somewhat obeying the laws of physics - they have soft bodies that can't handle great falls or massive impacts, so they're not supermonsters out of their elements like how most modern creature features do it. It feels better when the in-setting reasoning lets characters kill one with clever thinking than if the monsters just dodge and avoid everything until the plot says they don't.

      @EOMReacts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1
