Wow...I just stumbled across this. I was there! I recall standing on a milk crate, snapping a photo of Elvis and he looked right at me. I was so shocked that I almost fell! I only wish I'd seen Genesis during the Gabriel years. Blondie came out onstage with a handful of silver balloons, which she release during the first tune.
I was at this show too. What a long day...had to stand through Robert Hazard, Flock of Seagulls, Elvis Costello, and Blondie before Genesis came out. My favorite tour in the post Gabriel era.
A long day at JFK Stadium, locals Robert Hazard & The Heros followed by Flock of Seagulls, Blondie and Elvis Costello and then of course GENESIS. Managed to see Genesis the next two shows at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in NY.
This tour was really a warm-up for the one-off reunion with Gabriel later that year. They performed the complete Supper's Ready, for example, which they hadn't done in a few years. This was the last really good Genesis tour.
what was with the trumpet. I almost forgot about Phil holding it on stage much of the night.Ironically, the Phoenix Horns performed the next two nights at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium concerts in NY.."Paper Late" and "No Reply at All". I wento all three shows including this JFK show.
I wouldn't mind to be twenty years older now, if I had seen them when they were still making good music. I'm jelous of all of you that saw them back then... I wasn't old enough until the Invisible Touch album. When the band actually became invisible on the radar of progressiveness.
omg i was at this consert and the same year i graduated high school way kool i remember that was one awsome concert
